It's been a little while since they've been an actual threat to the Pats. One playoff run in the past 5 years. Losing to the inept Bengals late while the season is on the line. They are where they belong...on the couch.

Yeah, but they have one of a couple coaches who doesn't give a shit who BB is. That's huge coming to NE. Zero intimidation.

5 coaches have met the sharp axe as of 9AM est (including Mcadoo which was earlier this year). None are terribly surprising.

Del Rio
Caldwerll
Fox
Pagano

Del Rio firing was kinda unfair. And with ESPN reporting Gruden back to the Raiders, (with ownership stake? Can that happen?) it seems they were looking to get a huge name before the move to Vegas. Heck, can Gruden still coach after all this time?

Yeah...not really. I can guarantee Tomlin doesn't give a shit who BB is but what has that done? Harbaugh is a really good coach and plans against NE better than just about anyone. That zero intimidation crap...is just that. He has a shit QB and they have to work around that every year. It hasn't worked well for a while but they weren't scaring anyone this year.

Tom Brady also has a really rich wife lol

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he had a couple contracts under his belt before he started doing that as well. Once you have 50 million in your bank account, that kind of shit gets easier to do.

We should start looking for a supermodel for Jimmy to marry though. Think of the beautiful athletic babies he could make.

I'm a little confused about your post.

Tomlin chokes every time. So either he can't live up to the moment, or he gets out-coached. Zoidberg?
Harbaugh IMO is the 2nd best coach in the league. He can X and O with anyone, and he REALLY doesn't care who BB is. If he had anything resembling a top 5 QB, they would be in there with NE year after year.

I'm not so sure about that. If Belichick is in anyone's heads it's the Steelers.

Tomlin gets out coached. It has nothing to do with intimidation and everything to do with the quality of coach's plan. I agree about Harbaugh and that's why I also mentioned their shitty QB holding him back. Imagine Harbaugh with Rapist. Ravens would probably have been in 3 SBs the past 9 years instead of one.

But those what if conversations can go on forever.

What if Tom Brady was the starter in Baltimore? Would the Ravens be an elite AFC Championship every year team if the defense was healthy? What if Belichick was the coach in Pittsburgh? Would the Steelers have won 9 Super Bowls by now?

What if the Saints never get caught up in Bounty Gate and Greg Williams got a few more players on defense through the draft and Marquise Colston didnt fall off a cliff? Would the Saints have won 3 Super Bowls?

I mean it is what it is. Baltimore has always been one of those middling teams on the verge of greatness and I fucking hate them because Flacco turned into Montana and the team went on a dominant run when the Niners made it to the big dance and crushed my soul.

So, my point is, fuck the Ravens.

Yes.

To go beyond shit-posting, we were discussing intimidation and mentioned 3 coaches, Belichick, Harbaugh, and Tomlin. Personally, I don't think a HC can be intimidated by another or they are a shit coach. You have to believe you are a top notch coach and that you(your system, etc) will win. It's a competition and you have to think you are the best.

Since we mentioned Harbaugh and Tomlin, QB was an appropriate comparison. Since we both think Harbaugh is held back by his QB, Ben is an obvious comparison point where we can compare which coach is better. It's just one comparison to reinforce what we both believe. Harbaugh is better than Tomlin.

Dak had a pretty mediocre year, pretty Joe Flacco-ish.

Man, Weddle losing a trip to the playoffs and a million bucks off his penalty and that final play. Going to be a long off season for that man.

Flacco didn't really turn into Montana. He had some good fortune along the way, and played really well against the Patriots in the AFC championship game (mainly 2nd half) and looked very good in the 1st half of the Super Bowl. A lot of good fortune against Denver, couple dropped picks in the win over the Colts in the wild card round...and he got semi hot at the right time.

He still threw like 12 Tds with zero picks and was totally the main factor in the Ravens winning games Yeah the defense was very good but the guy was...just making plays I mean perhaps he got lucky here and there but you need luck to go on a run like that.

If Keapernick gets to run a couple bootlegs in the final minute the whole Flacco and Ravens thing never happens and he probably doesnt get the huge contract and the entire league would be different.

Whats crazy is I was just looking up some stats on Garopollo and how he has won his first 7 starts in his career and was wondering where that stood record wise, he is now second behind Big Ben who had 15! straight as a rookie and in his second year (regular season). I doubt he goes 9-0 to start next year so that record will probably never be broken. Its still impressive though, as his YPA is near the top of the league. I think he would of finished 1st in yards per attempt if he had enough passes to qualify.

He has thrown for 300 yards and then 2 games with almost 300 and one with 240, he ended up with 1,500+ yards on the year in 6 appearances and 5 starts. During Big Bens streak he was throwing for 178 yards and was depending on the defense most of the time. Whats crazy is Ben used to be criticized for not doing much during the first Super Bowl win etc, but over the course of his career he has turned into the epitome of a volume passer, having reached 500+ yards 3! times and has went for 300+ 42 times in his career.

So maybe Jimmy G is just a flash in the pan and the league will figure him out and he will end up just being average. But he does a HELL of an impression of being a great quarterback.

Del Rio firing was kinda unfair.

Del Rio keeps a horrible DC in Norton and fires our OC Musgrave who had the top 6th ranked offense last year. Musgrave isn't the greatest but to then replace him with a brand new OC in Downing who has never done the job before was crazy talk. If anything the Raiders should have fired Norton after last season and kept Musgrave.

Just look what Pagano did with the defense as soon as Norton was fired. In half the games we had more sacks, more interceptions, the list goes on and on. I'm sure Del Rio was probably calling the majority of the defense when Norton was around anyhow and had no problem making him the scapegoat. Which also says a lot considering hes billed as a defensive minded coach with a shit defense for 3 years straight. Look how Downing in one season helped to dismantle an offense that acquired new weapons to help out this year. Yeah it wasn't all Downing but he sure did help a bunch.

Del Rio has made plenty of dumb decisions and that window to win wont be there forever. I could go on but I aint crying none for Del Rio. Hes going to be paid plenty to relax at home. He did what we needed him to do. Hopefully Gruden can come in and take us all the way going forward.

Belichik definitely out coaches Tomlin pretty much every time. In my opinion this Steelers team is factually the best team in the AFC in terms of the players on the field, but I would never favor them against the current Pats due to coaching. They play down to every opponent, and Tomlin challenges the dumbest shit constantly.
