How far the team goes is one of the biggest factors. Look at how much Stafford carried that team of losers from Detroit. Since they went nowhere in the post season he's completely fallen out of the conversation.

He ended up number 6 for the season and he played the last what 2-3 weeks with a broken thumb on his throwing arm? All on a team with who for recievers? Until he got hurt and they sputtered at the end you had voters talking about him as a candidate. Deservedly so until the end.

Marvin Jones was pretty fucking good for the Bengals.

Tom Brady does a lot of things outside of statistical valuation. His leadership and ability to read and decipher defensive packages is peerless. Only Peyton Manning was on the same level in that regard.

He also provides his team with a wealth of experience and is the hardest working guy in the organization nevermind the locker room. No one ever hated on Brady for not honing his craft or putting in work.

Then you look at the fact that his stats ARE good at this stage of his career, so he isnt even being defined by the intangables. He lead the league for a good part of the season in yards per attempt, and was the most accurate on those throws. Not only that but he isnt turning the ball over, something he should be doing at 39 years old.

Bradys value is actually discounted if anything. He is the best QB ever, and its not really an argument.
If the 2016 NFL MVP award was a contest for "GOAT" then sure, brady wins.

But it's not, it's who was the greatest player (really, just QB) for this year only, and Ryan was way better than brady this year. Stop acting like this is the lifetime achievement award. nobody doubts brady will be a first year walk in to the hall of fame.

Do we really have to go through the definition argument every year?

If it was Most Important (compared to replacement), it was Carr in a landslide.
If it is Best 16 Games, it is Ryan.
If it is Best 16 Plays, it is Rodgers.
If it is Best Average Game, it is Brady.

But since they usually vote Best 16 Games, it should be Ryan by a mile. The Falcons mighty as well get something out of this loss, after all.

Come on man...Both had great stats. Brady played less games and still more wins in Brady's favor. Not a run away by any stretch. Not saying Ryan wasn't better, just that talk midway through the season Brady was leading the MVP talk.

They also won 75% of their games without Brady. There's no way you can say Brady's carrying the same kind of load Ryan is.

The not AJ Green reciever? The one not good enough for the team to keep? Oh that one.

The Bengals absolutely tried to keep Jones but he wanted to go to a team where he could be #1. He was easily the Bengals' second best receiver while he was here. Sucks he didn't want to stay.

I don't think Carr will get it this year. I think Matt Ryan will get the MVP.

Just like they won 72% of their games the year he was out. I know, the QB is the only guy that makes a team good, that's why this thread is full of retards and guys that pay $200 to feel consequential.

Heavy load when you have a running back putting up 200 yards and 3 tds every game... Did Freeman even have a single week where he put up less than 50 fantasy points?

I assume you're kind of joking (I hope) but Blount did have more yards and TDs on the ground. And you might say, well combine him and Coleman, and factor in passing yards, which would be valid. But then compare NE TEs to Falcon TEs.
