Was nice to see the Caps play a complete game for once. Holtby actually looked like he did last year in the playoffs again...picked up a primary assist on a great lead pass to catch Florida in a bad change. Liked the way our lines are starting to roll a little more too. We'd have a looooong road to climb back into any kind of discussion, but last night was a win to build on. Oates wasn't too high or too low about it too, which I liked, just more "yeah, this is how we should be playing". Hopefully the guys get the message.

Going off of last year stats of eighth place teams: 187 points/164 games X 48 games this year = 55 points needed to get in playoffs this year.

I wonder how the fact you only play in conference games in this shortened season will affect that number. Any OT game instantly means 3 point games in your conference, etc.

The only thing I don't like about the article is the comparison of Brodeur in his early years versus the prime of Roy and Hassek. Once the career numbers came into play, you see Brodeur holds up just as well as the other two, if not better.

And sure, New Jersey has been known as a defensive team, but that's no fault of Brodeur's. Remember, Brodeur forced a rule change because he gave the Devils such an advantage with his puck handling. Do we blame Jerry Rice for having two hall of fame QBs throwing him the ball his entire career in an offense that promoted the pass? No, we still consider him the greatest to ever put on an NFL jersey, and I think Brodeur needs to be held in that same company.

His #s will probably be considered "untouchable" once he hangs them up.

I only predict that the Leafs have a chance at playoffs this year, but we just lost Reimer again, and Scrivens kinda scares me.I swear it looks like he's going to fall over just standing there alone, with no one even around him.

Is this possibly the best Hawks team in franchise history? Or does everyone else simply suck so hard?

It's pretty nuts how stacked they were 3 years ago when they won the Cup, then had to have a bit of a sell off b/c how far over the cap they would have been. Have to give a lot of credit to them for being back at this level so soon after that.

Wow, you don't see that every day. Kovy scored from the blueline on a PP, but no on ice official saw it. Play continued for 3:12 (period almost ended) before the next whistle and video review to count the goal.

Versteeg is such a pussy. Turns his back to Ovechkin at last minute to try and draw a charge and fakes like he's hurt. Doesn't miss a shift and comes right back out and cross checks Ovechkin going after him for the hit, linesman breaks it up before Versteeg gets killed. They both get minors for roughing with Versteeg getting an extra deuce. Riberio buries it on the PP.

And we managed to lose. Ugh.
