Devils played like shit, but still had a chance to tie it up late in the game. I can't even remember who it was now I was screaming at my TV so fucking loud, but it was a cross pass right in front of the goal and his stick missed the puck by about a cunthair. Net was for the taking, and they just botched it.

I can only assume that picture will end up jinxing the hawks tonight.

Pretty rough being a Sharks fan atm. 7 wins followed by 6 losses. At least we got some loser points but jesus christ. Would be nice if the Marleau, Thornton, pavs line would get back to scoring. Oh, and our bottom 6 getting anything in the net would be real dandy.

Are you really already throwing that line under the bus? That was quick.

No, but a lot of it was incredibly lucky bounces. When we rely on a single line to score then they are going to get more heat. I would say that Havlat and our bottom six are really the ones that need to put it to the back of the net.

Thorntons turnovers have been attrocious this entire time. We have no one who can skate the godamn puck past the blue-line. Our power play was a huge part of why that line ever scored, and couture gained his goals largely off the lucky ass PP too. Numbers don't say it all.

Thornton and Marleau are legends imo. I was just pointing out that it really hurts us when those guys go 5 games without a single point.

Matt Cooke taking people out again.

Goes to slew foot Karlsson into the boards and probably slices Karlsson's achilles in two. Scumbag.

That wasn't a fuckin slewfoot attempt, it was an off balance check and a shitty accident. Who slewfoots a guy pinned to the board with nowhere to slew his actual foot TO? He cleaned up his game last year after being such a shitheel the previous season. If it was another player you wouldn't even blink.

You're right, he's definitely not trying to lift his leg here... He's hardly cleaned up just because he finally made it a season without almost killing someone.

Word is Karlsson has a cut to his lower leg and will not return. Sens management doesn't like the play by Cooke.

Heard the same defense used of Ovechkin's "slewfoot" on Peverly couple years back. Reckless play is a reckless play, although I'd like to see a regular speed video first. Feel bad for Karlsson, even if it's bullshit he got a Norris for putting up O numbers at a slightly worse clip than Green did 2 years in a row but was passed over because of the narrative about his defensive play (which didn't stop Karlsson from getting it).

Do you understand what a slew foot is? I mean, obviously you don't I just want to make sure you understand that you don't. It's an intentional trip from behind, not when 1 leg is up during a check(pretty common thing) and an accident happens.

Great insight there with the twitter update though, I guess you're right after all. I mean, if the Sens brass doesn't like the play I guess I don't have a leg to stand on. Much like Karlsson...

edit: Oh God damn it, I'm doing what I hate and arguing about NHL penalties! Damn you guys!

Think everyone knows what it technically is, but so many other borderline plays get labeled that. Haven't seen video of it yet, I just remember the Ovechkin incident was a similar scenario, going towards the boards into a check with Peverly with one leg off the ice and when they overbalanced his leg swept out Peverly's. Saw a bit about the thing tonight on a Caps board, but I'm not going to trust them as being unbiased when it comes to Cooke.

One I found quickly.

Doesn't look like much of a slew, although I'm sure fans everywhere will decide whether or not they think it's an "intentional stomp" or whatever. Not something I think anyone has any real way of proving. Sucks for the Sens.

You tried to sell Matt Cooke as completely reformed too. While he's definitely not running around every other game anymore he's still had one or two incidents even since "cleaning up" his game. A Lady Byng will not be in his future.

He'll never be clean, he fills that agitator/asshole role that every team has. But 2 seasons ago he was just fucking filthy. Me and most every other fan wanted him off the GD team. Even he felt bad after that year apparently. Management called him in and they all agreed he needed to cut the flat out filthy shit. And he did. He's still scummy, but he's normal hockey scummy. Not open ice attempt to injure scummy. Not that the rep will ever go away, he earned it and he gets to live with it.

Actually, I might be off. I've been a Pens fan forever and they have a long history of having these agitator types, from Ulf Samuelsson to Jarkko Ruutu. Seeing guys like Sean Avery around the league I just kind of assumed most teams had one guy like that on the roster. But other than a few examples I'm not familiar with every team enough to say if this is really the norm.

Yeah, I can buy all of this. I wasn't happy when we got him at the deadline the year we went 7 with you guys. He's definitely not as bad as he used to be. Like you said though, he's always going to have that rep, and I think a lot of fans are jaded by him and are going to see this and assume the worst.
