Those Vezina noms were stupid

Bobrosvky, Lundquist and Niemi?

But Craig Anderson gets snubbed?

And Niemi actually gets nominated for the Vezina. Did not see that coming. If we somehow beat the Hawks, I imagine that he will get it. SJ beating the Hawks is pretty unlikely, though. The Glass Man(Havlat) being injured still doesn't help our cause. At least we have a week off.

Radio1040(Canucks radio) has been a comic goldmine.
The awards are already decided. They are voted for before the playoffs start so that playoff performance doesn't affect it.

Also Craig Andersson only played 24 games. If he pulled out 12 shutouts in them and won just about all he might have been considered. The other goalies put in 40+ games, some guy with half the games will pretty much never be considered for the trophy.

Damn, I owe my brother a beer. I mean, if he didn't end up killing himself last night...

BTW even ignoring Fleury the Isles are just flat outplaying the Pens aside from game 1. It's obnoxious watching players dog it or make terrible passes IN THE PLAYOFFS. Fuck's sake...

Refs had it in for Vancouver the entire time.

I don't agree at all. They took stupid penalties. Even if you were right, Vancouver complaining about diving and bad calls is beyond retarded. Weise was a dickbag all series. Bieksa is a complete tool, and tweeting about his complaints was a real bitch move. The Sedins having what are typically the kind of antics they take part in used against them was...glorious.

I will say that Desi putting his hand on the puck in the paint was bad although Nemo would have had it anyway. Even our color commentators were laughing about that and showing slow-mo's of Desi looking up awkwardly after he put his hand on the puck.

Vancouver was outplayed for the majority of the series.

24 games played is a pretty good indicator of a quality of a goalie in a 48 game season.

The only thing games played proved is that Bobrovsky is consistently worse than Anderson.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. Vancouver played like total shite, there's no question about it. They deserved to lose, they were outclassed in every game of the playoffs (all four haha). But I do think the officiating was very inconsistent.

Bobrovsky has worse GAA and SV% by far. And having played 14 games more than Anderson, he notched only 1 more shutout. I understand the need to keep players with little ice time off the nominations because it can skew the stats badly by just having 1-2 really good games, but having started and played half a season should be good enough for anyone.

I definitely wouldn't bet on Nemo winning, but god damn did that guy carry SJ through the bad months. Huge amount of wins, given the season. Best shorthanded goalie in the league. Beast. I don't expect him to play like that every season but I am really glad that he got this one, and it's nice to see him get some recognition for it.

Vancouver deserved to lose that series but the reffing was pretty horrible, enough to make me wary of the rest of the playoffs.
The team is getting older and the core has become stale. The attitude towards them in Vancouver is changing too, it's just too much of the same shit. They had their chance and with the new divisions next year it's not going go get any easier. They need to do some major retooling in the next few seasons or they're going to end up in a similar position Calgary has been in.

Tonight's game could be make or break for the Caps. Pretty sure this stat is right, but of all the times the Caps have led a series 2-0, they've never won Game 3, and if they have lost Game 4 to leave the series tied at 2-2, they have always lost the series.

Maybe i'm weird but I never buy into stats like those. Specifically prior series' from previous years. Seems to be all coincidental superstition. Dont mean to state the obvious but there's just too many factors at play.

Heres to hoping we add a lot more defensive pressure tonight instead of just turtling up in front of Lundqvist like abused housewives. We cant keep giving you fucks free reign to pass the puck around and create scoring lanes.

Average vezina winner in the last 10 seasons played 83% of the 82 game season, Tim Thomas being the lowest # of gp with 54. Also if you think anyone should be out and anderson should be in, the odd man out isn't Bob.

Well when going up 2-0 in a series we have never won Game 3, and that held true. But I hear you, it does sort of make sense in a way that if you go up 2-0 and get a split in next 2 to go up 3-1, you should win (although the Caps have blown 3-1 series leads in the past that weren't from a 2-0 start). But it's pretty sad to know if we lost the following 2 games for the series to get evened up we've never won it.

John Erskine continues to be terrible at getting the puck out of our end or moving it with any speed whatsoever. Rags pinning us in our own end far too much this period.
