And Carey Price went 3-0 with 2 shutouts last week and a 0.66 GAA.
The East is going to be such a fucking logjam this season. There's 8 points between 1st and 8th. And the way the Pens are playing they could end up being the odd man out. Thankfully there is some separation between the top 8 and the rest. Though Philly and NJ have shown signs that they could make a strong late push to eke in.
edit: And Fleury has, predictably, come back to Earth somewhat. 916 SV% in January is his lowest for the season, and you can't really blame much of it on injuries in front of him.

Yeah the East is nuts right now. I know you're just freaking out Grimm, but honestly I don't see anyone outside the top 8 right now making up enough ground to overtake anyone. Race for Atlantic crown has been more consistently close all year, and you still have 3 teams all within two points (Tampa, Montreal, and Detroit)...but the Metro has 4 teams separated by only 3 points. Really I think it's just going to be jockeying for home ice down the stretch...with potential for some great series come playoff time. Hell if the Caps play any of the other 3 in the Metro there's going to be history there. Could be an outside chance of Boston/Montreal (always fun), Isles/Rags, even Tampa/Detroit would be interesting because of the Stevie Y factor.

Wild 6-1-1 since trading for Dubs. That dude saved Mike Yeo's job for sure. Probably will end up being too little too late, but it's a good sign overall because it shows Fletcher that the team will rally behind a new goalie and actually give effort and the problem with the team doesn't really extend beyond that one position.

Philly sucks, 3 point game and Isles end up winning it? Only positive is not a ROW. At least we held up our end tonight. Was great watching Norris Trophy winning Karlsson get beat by Ovechkin for the game winner. Still annoyed he won a Norris for basically being the exact same type of defenseman as Mike Green, with not as good numbers as Green's Norris candidate years.

Looks like the king is back on his mortal coil and I need to learn to shut my filthy jinxing whore mouth. Out Three weeks MINIMUM.... Good thing Talbot has been known to rise to the occasion. I'm more worried about who they grab/move up as his backup.

Wow if that's really how that happened...what a shame. Meanwhile everyone keeps winning in top 4 of the Metro. Finally called up Grubauer to spell Holtby instead of marching Peters out there (and letting in 3+ goals), beat Anaheim in a shootout. Pens up 2-0 right now in complete control in Calgary.

MAF with his league leading 8th shutout, noice. And even HUGE disappointment Brandon Sutter scored a goal. No idea what happened to him but holy fuck has he been bad.
Defense has allowed 43 SOG the last 2 games total, back to back shutouts. And I know most folks don't notice, but Kris Letang has turned in to an actual good defenseman over the last year or so. Instead of a mediocre one with great offense.
Oh and 2 goals for Sid. Hopefully a sign of things to come, but it wasn't last time he did it really=/ Still though, for a guy having what is empirically a bad year, he's 2 points off the scoring lead(with 4 fewer games played). I remain cautiously optimistic about him.

Have been on the other side of ref/linesman taking out our D man. It sucks when it happens...surprised it doesn't more often. That said was a weird game, lot of strange momentum shifts. Lightning in a bottle for you guys to start the 2nd period, we get the lead right after the linesman goal only to give it away a couple minutes later. I'll take the 2 points and escape given how we usually fair on these west coast trips.
