How do twilight missions work anyway? I woke up early this morning and the twilight versions of the first two main missions were up. Had enough time to do the first one, which was surprisingly not that difficult (one dumb death to trash I blame on being half-asleep, boss only had one minor change so was easy) but then I had to go. No idea if the second one will still be up when I get home tonight or if I have to wait for some long rotation to cycle back to it.

My impression of twilight missions after doing that one was that you're better off just running straight to the boss. The loot I got from the trash and the various chests and bodies was all junk, including the mimic squirrel things and the loot goblins turtles.

If you do them at the appropriate level, I think the loot there far better than normal. Certainly was in the last trial demo (in the demo I think I was level 17 when it opened up at level 29?).
I saw the first two missions now too at level 10 and 15. Since I am level 37 I doubt there is much to gain from doing them. They're good for farming player summons though.

Remember to equip + to yokai loot drops and not human for Twilight missions since there are far more yokai than human enemies in those levels.

That said, I think there is merit to running to the boss since one of the Titles you can get is tied to only killing the boss in a level. Most likely only doable in the early levels since that wouldn't be doable in any mission that requires a key drop to progress.

From what I am reading on Reddit it sounds like twilight missions are based on the server time and everyone gets the same choices?

The twilight missions were level 145 or close to it yesterday, now they are level 15...
Yeah it sounds like an old school Destiny nightfall system. Some are easy and some are like, "LOL fuck you." While all of them are the same options for everyone.

Just finished the first island at level 55. That warrior of the west dude was such a pita.

In my records it shows that he killed me 45 times before my win. I was trying to use kusa against him but ended up winning using raikiri in high stance because it staggered him so much easier.

I wiped on him probably 20 times last night. Only got close three times, twice with a Katana that I'm not even specced for and once with a spear using high stance strong attacks to poke him.

I'm becoming less and less enamored of Kusigamas and more keen on Katanas.

I'm going to keep clipping out boss fight videos for future reference. I don't think anyone would appreciate me linking them individually in this thread, so instead here's a link to my videos page.

Game is super good if you're still on the fence. If you don't have a PS4 yet, now is a great time to get a pro with the upcoming boost patch. If you only like action RPGs, you have hundreds of hours of gameplay if you stick to Nioh and Bloodborne. If you haven't played Dark Souls 2 or 3 yet, get those as well.

I'm actually glad that the ninja set forces you to use those two weapons. In the situations where you can really let loose with combos, kusarigama is unmatched in damage dealt. Versus enemies that force you to hit and run, or ones that are especially susceptible to ki breaks katanas really shine.

And before you're able to farm the set, the fact that missions give you free elemental katanas that are considerably higher level than anything else you're likely to have at that stage of the game doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, that level 25 Katana got me interested, but it's more the moveset than anything. I find myself using all three stances equally. With the gama, I almost always end up just spamming low stance light attack to stunlock because it's ludicrously effective. I like the high stance well enough, but I never use medium at all - I just don't like it. There's no disputing the fact that gamas are hella powerful, though.

I don't use medium too often anymore, but it's great when you've got several things chasing after you. Katana is the opposite, I use medium far more than the other stances.

Is it too early to call GOTY? Because this is going to be GOTY. Fucking loving this...

I think I'm broken though.... The Samurai boss guy with the rock and the bat chick hardly troubled me at all, yet the fucking electric lion/dog/whatever the fuck absolutely bossed me this afternoon... Haha. Great game.

I get summoned to help with lightning dog a ton, which sucks because he isn't the actual boss and I have to slog through the entire level showing newbs where to go.

Edit - I found the poison cavern boss very annoying as a solo player. Also, fuck that entire level.

I don't know why Souls and this insist on forcing at least one annoying poison level on their players, and this one was the worst of all by far.

I rather liked the water level afterwards, though, but holy fuck the boss is raping me.
