No Man's Sky isn't an MMO
ficksed4eweNo Man's Sky isn't an MMO until you get to the centre of the galaxy and then yea it's definitely gonna be an MMO. We won't have any control over that whatsoever.
This isn't the impression I've gotten at all. In every interview they have said the chances of running across another player are 'slim' not impossible. From reading it, there is no game server. It's all processed and loaded on your PS4/PC, then you upload the seeds to the server through in-game terminals, so others can access those seeds that are then generated on their system. It sounds like not only are the chances of you discovering the same planets as other people slim, but there is not a server infrastructure to even see other players.
I guess if you're in 'online mode', it can connect you to other players on the same seed. I dunno, they've been very vague. If the universe is as big as they keep saying, getting the center of the universe may not even be feasible in your lifetime. The universe isn't stored on your hard disk or on server somewhere
The world around you is generated by your PS4 at the point you visit it. Leave and it's all thrown away, but if you return it is generated again exactly as it was. This also means the game will be completely playable offline.
What they mean is that the universe does not persist. Stormwind is always there even if a player isn't in it. In NMS only a spherical area around the player is loaded. In space, this distance is much further than on planets.I'm talking about the information from the link I posted, which is the most recent info I've seen.

I think that quote is just trying to illustrate that everything is generated on the fly. They have stated that you can meet other players in very clear terms (though it will be unlikely unless you are close to the center).I'm talking about the information from the link I posted, which is the most recent info I've seen.

That... actually sounds really cool. Not only will players meet up, they will form galactic empires. Developers really need to learn from histoy before speaking. Every single time they underestimate gamers they get surprised. I don't think seeing players will be rare at all. There will be an entire fansite dedicated to tracking everything and everyone to help people meet up.
