Absolutely everything about this game points to it being Spore 2: More planets, less content.
yep.
What I am looking at now, is less of the planet gen... and more the star control aspects. like that last vid talking up species relations, etc. ok. great... so, how deep is THAT? is it star control?

In the Information Repository of the subreddit, under Multiplayer it says:

You will be able to see other players

Only a few people can be seen at one time. If lots of people converge on an area, then you will only see a few of them.

Well, OK. That doesn't clear up a damned thing. How many is a few? I don't need to see thousands, but if I can see ~10 or so than I can form a "group" and do shit. If I can only see one other person, then what's the point of seeing anyone at all?

It's almost as if they're afraid of what multiplayer could do to the game.

It's more likely they are not creating a multiplayer infrastructure to support any real kind of MP, but being intentionally vague so as not to turn away those who are explicitly interested in MP. I would assume there is no MP in this game, if that's a key feature you want.

That is something that should at least be added at some point. If the only point to the game is endless exploration to a bunch of worlds that you'll more than likely never even revisit, then what's the fucking point?

My gaming time is something I do to get away from people. I'm very well aware that multiplayer is huge and there are a few games I play strictly for it, but I'm thankful for the games out there that are still awesome for single player(or use multiplayer in a manner such as Bloodborne/Dark Souls, where it's not the main or required feature). I have no clue if this game will be any good, but I'm interested in the exploration and tech behind the game. I likely won't buy on release, but will if the feedback here is good.
I feel this way a lot and I play a lot of single player games. But some of my RL friends and I were thinking that this would be a step up from our Minecraft servers, and that we'd try finding each other if someone found some neat/interesting planets. Earlier our discussions revolved more around"Will we even be able to build shit permanent on a planet? Will you just harvest resources from the surface of planets straight to space and build ships there?"and some of our group were already starting to lose interest. Other friends have been following this more closely than I have been, and seeing their interest slowly die off over time as they tried finding concrete information pretty much killed my own hope for the game.

Now this multiplayer stuff...I mean, I dunno. I don't even know what to really say, to be honest.

I think they're losing out on a golden opportunity to make everyone happy. Want MP? Cool, here are my coordinates, come meet me. Don't want to see anyone else in the game? Cool, the game is 20 quadrillion miles across, have at it.

Yeah, the problem is there is nothing to say because they are being annoyingly vague about it all, which has to be a bad thing(as far as multiplayer is concerned). My main problem is that with them being so vague about it and them talking about how big the universe is in the game, how long before we even know exactly how multiplayer works?!

They're being vague because this isn't a game at all. It was a cool idea someone kicked around they labelled it as a game. There's going to be nothing to do in this. At all.

I think the implication is this isn't Minecraft and clearly there's a lot of interest in a Minecraft-like game. They probably aren't saying anything because the hype is leading to sales.

I'm gonna cancel my pre-order... something doesn't smell right with this one.

Fuck man. Now I have nothing to look forward to on ps4 until FF15 in September.

There are probably like 3 developers who I trust enough to preorder something from. This ain't one of 'em. Amazon is really temping me with that 20% discount on preorders, though.

I preorder because I like having physical copies mailed to my door because fuck the mall.

Haven't been disappointed with a pre-order decision yet, but I'm usually pretty smart/informed about my purchases. Don't pre-order multiplayer only games, don't preorder anything from EA, etc

CDPR is one for me at least. Bethesda is a weird one. I love their games but you really do have to take the good with the bad with them.

Need the space bits of this built into a more persistent game like EverQuest Landmark.

I'm a bit surprised that Starmade hasn't caught on that well with the people looking for Minecraft-in-Space. It's not a bad little game really.
