They've got nukes. They've got multi-stage ballistic missiles. They've threatened to nuke us. Are we just going to wait for one of our cities to become a fireball? Please, our country could barely tolerate the Iraq and Afghan wars. A war like that... I can't even imagine the public reaction.
Its obviously not millions, but plenty of NKs I would imagine have lots of interaction with foreigners or are able to leave the country somehow or come close to it(vice did a short video on NK laborers in russia). Its definitely interesting and just plain unworldly. I mean how do they reconcile what they see with what they are told? Just cant understand how they do that.Is it really that many people though? Those that you listed are what, a few thousand people? And what do they really see? And what is Grorious Reader telling them about this shit? I really don't know, I find the whole thing fascinating but I just haven't read about it or anything yet.
That more or less. I would think that if the majority were just acting and didnt drink the koolaid there would be a revolt or insurgency by now.You have to think, how much of it can really be fake if they have literally NEVER known anything else?
Well, I'm talking more about the people who have some level of knowledge/interaction about the outside world. For example, their "journalists" and broadcasters who edit foreign news coverage and get to see a lot more than what the average North Korean Joe is allowed to see. Some of the more priviligedged people and actual party members who are allowed to live in Pyonyang and read books that are otherwise banned/unavailable to normal folk. Athletes, too, who travel abroad, would have some knowledge that things aren't necessarily exactly as they've been told. You have to think, how much of it can really be fake if they have literally NEVER known anything else?
Read 1984 again, I'll bet it's a lot like that. Their Ministry of Truth is what I imagine NK journalists to be like. I'll bet it's not too far from the truth. I'll bet a lot of the less intelligent people believe that shit so hard that they just don't know any other way, and the more intelligent are either up the ranks, in a concentration camp, or in perpetual fear of the camps/death/whatever.Well, I'm talking more about the people who have some level of knowledge/interaction about the outside world. It's been a while since I read "Nothing to Envy", but I believe a few of the people which it focuses on start to question what they've been told throughout their lives, but of course they have to keep up appearances until they're able to escape.
Air superiority, show of force, DoD contracts, etc. Tons of reasons. It is far more likely any nuclear attack from the US would go via submarine. There is literally no reason to even fly over NK
I'm sure you can find NK TV streaming some where on the web. It might be hard to find a translation though.Read 1984 again, I'll bet it's a lot like that. I had the pleasure of a low altitude B2 overflight at Travis AFB during an air show; they are amazingly impressive machines.I've never seen a B2 from the ground level like that. What a terrifying death angel of destruction it is.
also, who thinks NK will shell some useless SK position in the next two weeks?
I saw them numerous times while at Nellis, and got to see one during a live fire demonstration w/ pretty much at least one of everything the AF had back in the mid 2000's. If you search for "nellis capstone" there are a handful of videos and some info out there.I had the pleasure of a low altitude B2 overflight at Travis AFB during an air show; they are amazingly impressive machines. I could barely even hear the thing to make it even more ominous.
If you believe in something long enough it will become real. It doesn't make it real, it just becomes of method of acceptance where you know nothing else, and you become it, with every last part of you. It will become all you know, and the thought of what is truly real is alien and foreign, and will never cross your mind again. You have to think, how much of it can really be fake if they have literally NEVER known anything else?
That's actually an accurate statement. North Korea and South Korea have been in a state of war since 1950. No peace treaty was ever signed, only an armistice agreement.North Korea is now claiming it's in a state of war with the south. Fun times!
