Glad it is done well and all that- while I am a huge Castlevania and Dracula fan- I never liked the /horror/ complete focus of the lore- and that is / was what nosfuratu usually is. I am more into the fantasy adventure gothic stylization etc

Hope it does do well and wins awards etc.

Saw this yesterday for part of our yearly ritual, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was the first movie I've seen in a long time that really leaned into atmosphere and building dread and all that. Fortunately Hoult is a big part of the movie, as Ms. Depp is a terrible actress. I rarely notice "bad" acting, but I noticed this time. And, as I commented after the movie, she isn't anywhere near hot enough for that level of crazy and drama. If someone that looks and acts like her and her fivehead tells me an ancient terror is coming for her...well, he can have her. We get to see her naked, but put some ice on your own nipples and then look in the mirror, and chances are your tits are bigger than hers.

There was a LOT of stuff like really dark sets where you felt the dread along with the character (Hoult usually), and some stuff was hard to understand, so I can see where people might not like it for those reasons, but they were clearly done to make you feel uncomfortable and tense, and it worked great. I really liked all of that stuff, even while sort of complaining about how hard it was to see shit.

Dafoe was fine, but not a big role really. Biggest thing I noticed from him was the vast height differential between him, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and then Hoult. If I had to guess, Dafoe is just slightly taller than Lily Depp, maybe 5-4, then Johnson at maybe 5-10, and then Hoult at 6-2 or so. I'm sure I'm off, but some scenes were almost comical with how small Dafoe really is.

It was a bit long, they probably could have easily shaved 15-30 mins from it. And I will likely never watch it again, but I'm still happy that I saw it and was pleased overall.

As an aside, the much better looking blonde friend of Depp was bugging me throughout the entire movie. I knew I had seen her somewhere recently, but I couldn't place her at all, and I didn't whip out my phone mid-movie to check. Once I did, I realized why I couldn't get it: last time I saw her she was bald in Deadpool vs. Wolverine.

I've always enjoyed the old black and white film and really wished they would remake it but also weary about it given how Hollywood is today. After reading Void Void review... I'm definitely going to go see it.

Dr.Retarded Dr.Retarded A review from your favorite youtuber.

Haha, I love vampire movies with being one myself he says.

Peter Steele would laugh at him, and then slap them with his massive wang repeatedly. I don't know I just can't watch his videos. I know it his schtick is just being super edgy, but I just find him really annoying, probably the same thing that a lot of people find with Major Mutoid. I need to come up with a good nickname for him, maybe Emperor Edgelord. I don't know, I'll have to kick it around a bit. This is actually a pretty tolerable video though.

I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie though...😉

Speaking of this movie, does anybody remember Shadow of the Vampire with Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich. Had a few other decent actors in it. Remember going and seen it in the movie theater and it's really good. I might rewatch it before I go and see this. And walk that weird line between dark comedy and something horrific.

It's not that I don't disagree with the stuff that they say, and at least drunk retard is somewhat watchable, despite his constant clips he always uses of people laughing or screaming, which at this point is pretty damn old, but I completely and wholeheartedly agree.

I guess that's why I enjoy stuff like Oliver Harper produces. Just clean, professional, and you normally get to learn something interesting about whatever film and how it was produced, which I just find interesting.

We're probably just too old to enjoy that stuff and aren't their Target demographic, which is fine by me.

Yeah I saw that one several years ago. Had to do an inter-library loan to get it. I enjoyed it.

I'm going to see this one tomorrow night. I hope the nipples don't ruin it.

Saw this afternoon. It's not my favorite Eggers but it's prob his best film if that makes sense.

The scenes with Thomas in the old castle with Nosferatu were so well done.

I kinda agree about Depp's acting but I'm fine with it. Some parts she was great other parts I was like "is that what the director wanted?"

I kept picturing a Florence Pugh in her place.

Did Bill S do the voice too? He was unrecognizable in this. So good.
Also the scenes where Ellen was deeply possess by Nosferatu were amazing.

I loved it. Very good vampire movie. I appreciate that Eggers stayed faithful to the story and didn't add any stupid twists to "subvert expectations." He has a really good sense of folklore and symbolism. All four of his movies have been great and I'm excited to see what he does next.

Cant wait to see this. I will say Dafoe already had his Nosferatu masterpiece, it was called Shadow of the Vampire. It was amazing.

Apparently he might be doing a Labyrinth reboot. If it's true that's pretty fucking out of left field. I guess I at least trust him enough to make something entertaining, and probably a hell of a lot darker. He'll probably have Willem Dafoe play whatever Bowie's character was. And probably have the VVitch chick play the protagonist. That or maybe Robert Pattinson will be David Bowie's character.
