I went to get my hdd's at the local shop today and there was a dude in front of me. Must have been in his late 20's. He picked up a Zotac (eeeeeew) 3090. And as the clerk put it on the counter I could see his eyes light up. Next thing he's acting like a kid in a candy store. He couldn't stay still like a normal person and he kept touching the box at least 7 times as he was waiting to pay. I didn't start counting the touches until I noticed him doing it. And when he left he bolted out of there like he had stolen something. Hit me on the shoulder on the way out. I bet he didn't even notice that. Oh, he also bought a ryzen cpu (couldn't tell which number), MSI motherboard and some other crap. It was great to see someone so happy.

Absolutely gets them for free. Sending him a $1500 video card for an IG post is ludicrous in amount of return for the dollar in advertising. 15 million people follow him, plus the links and news articles that will link it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave it to him and paid 10s of thousands for him to post it.
I’m friends with a music producer with a fraction of a fraction of Cavills followers and companies send him high end free shit all the time. His entire house is Sonos speakers and he didn’t have to do shit for it, they contacted him.

Went to Microcenter this morning to get my new CPU. About a dozen people all standing around asking about the 5 3080s they had in stock, apparently all sold out within 30 minutes of store opening (I got there just a little bit past an hour after they opened).
One guy did buy the liquid cooled 3090 they had in stock for $1800 though.
