Which is absurd because AMD "driver problems" have been a myth for at least a decade now. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to roll back a driver update, and Geforce driver rollbacks are certainly no less common from what I see in threads here and on reddit about AAA/bleeding edge graphics games.

The 5700xt series had major driver problems on release and it was a shitshow for AMD. They've added more people to the driver team recently so that bodes well for them.

You need to lay off the drugs. AMD's driver problems are known far and wide.

I can't remember the last time I had a problem with Nvidia's drivers.

Nvidia has gotten a lot better with drivers over the years, remember having to boot into safe mode to fully remove the old drivers? I also finally installed GeForce Experience recently and it's actually lightweight and somewhat useful.

Eh is all I can say when people champion intel. How long do those sockets last again? Sure in pure gaming the intel is better. However a lot of people do more than just gaming on their pc nowadays. Also at the 1440p and 4K side of things most things level out till the FPS difference isn’t as large as the plebs stuck in the 90s still playing on 1080p screens!

I personally feel the desktop market performance will mimic how 10th gen laptop performance matched the laptop 4000 series, which was it didn’t.

This will be my first full AMD build since EQ1 ToV raid days.

I bought a 5700XT shortly after release, when the triaxial fan cards finally became readily available instead of that shitty reference design. The main driver issue was the black screen/signal lost thing, which was mostly caused by enhanced sync being on. Only ran into it three or four times myself, since I have never seen a need to mix any software v-sync options with Freesync.

AMD's driver problems are known far and wide.**
** - ...mostly by people who don't actually own or use the cards.

Not saying AMD is perfect or anything. It's more than a little frustrating that they haven't made a card that can compete at the highest end in a long time. I don't give a single fuck about 4K, and the 5700XT can do 3440x1440 at 60-90 fps in most new games if you tweak settings, but you can pretty much forget about maxing out a 144Hz panel. It's enough that I've at least been considering switching back to green after almost 20 years of nothing but red.

I have one of their cards. Their drivers are shit. Forums and Reddit are full of AMD driver complaints.

Try to stop being a retard for once.

Interesting. I’m pretty EVGA fanboy when it comes to graphics cards but may try to save a few bucks and camp for a FE. Ah, who am I kidding. Will camp all of it and take what I can get.

Will definitely wait to get my hands on an EVGA card.

This was my first amd build since I ca t even remember, cs1.6? While I got the best performance per dollar with amd, Intel's processors are always faster single threaded.

having a lot of pent up rage towards Intel for various retarded reasons and (stupidly) envisioning AMD as some sort of scrappy underdog valiantly fighting to bring better value to CPU chips. This is nothing new and has been happening for decades, the only thing that's changed is that AMD has been making better chips the last few years.
You forgot the important word "again". Intel was stupid a lot of the time. They had this vision of 64 bit computing with their new VLIW instruction set (because they didn't have to hand it over with the x86 patent exchange agreement to AMD/VIA) and their Itaniums, which was a total unmitigated disaster: pushing superscalarity and reordering to the compiler was not a good idea when you don't have enough software engineers writing those compilers. Before that they had the i860 (a RISC chip no less), and even before that the iAPX432.

Intel is a graveyard of stupid ideas. So better thank AMD for their Opterons and the AMD64 instruction set, which Intel got cheap via the patent exchange pool, or else we would still have either 4 GB of max memory or page address extensions.

Wait so they delayed the review embargo to two days after the pre-orders go up? I mean guess we can always cancel but that is a little odd?
