I was able to land a Hellhound for a family member at launch and it was having crashing issues - he opted to just send it back to Amazon and lucked out on a 5070 ti on Amazon that wasn't too horrifically priced.
Unfortunately mine came from NewEgg and if I remember they had a pretty big “no returns” thing. Can’t remember why I didn’t even bother, but went straight to Powercolor.

doing what darkmiasma is doing is probably the best option and I think microcenter will assemble/test it all for you for like $200? too. Even with all the nvidia shit recently I'd still go with nvidia over AMD though for video, but thats probably a personal preference and maybe AMD GPUs are way better now?

otherwise i'd grab the second one, g752. much better CPU imo

thats a pretty nice prebuilt, i had to pick up one at costco last month when my PC died and i didn't have the energy or spare time to figure stuff out so got a meh 4070 super PC which is fine since I rarely actually play games on my PC anyways. If I had the time I'd buy parts and have someone put it together but that takes days or longer, guess i'll do that for the 60xx generation.

They sent me home with boot issues and it was a 2h round trip. I think the customer dissatisfaction discount was 75$-100$ if I remember correctly. I was pretty heated that they didn't boot test it, so when I arrived in the parking lot I told the manager "if I have to do anything physical" from my car to the repair area myself, that I was walking to the returns instead of repairs.

They sent 3 guys out with a cart to bring the rig in from my car in the parking lot while I sat in the driver seat. The 3 man included the lead build team guy-- who later apologized after the repair was done.

Wasn't the build teams fault necessarily. It was caused by a WD HDD compatibility issue that nobody knew how to solve.

I could have thrown the HDD in the trash myself and saved the repair trip since it was just a tack-on backup drive.

Still, their feet deserved to be held to the fire for not boot testing the fucking build.

Cancelled my order with Build Redux. The Microcenter near me has quite a few 5090 builds in stock. I may just say fuckit and snag one.

Be ready to possibly RMA, my first 5090 bricked itself two days after I got my rig, luckily Falcon customer support kicks ass and I got a new one next day aired.

Ran up to Microcenter in North Jersey and grabbed parts for a new build:
  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Granite Ridge AM5 4.70GHz 8-Core Boxed Processor
  • Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard
  • Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL30 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit
  • PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Triple Fan 20GB GDDR6 PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card
  • Samsung 990 PRO 2TB Samsung V NAND 3-bit MLC PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe M.2 Internal SSD
  • Lian Li O11D EVO RGB Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case - Black
  • Corsair RM1000e 1000 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply - ATX 3.0 Compatible
  • Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer III RGB 420mm All in One Liquid CPU Cooling Kit
The videocard was only $599 since they had a discount for buying an AMD CPU, and since its a HUD zone, taxes were only 3.5%, so between that and opening the creditcard for the immediate 5% discount, it only came out to $2100 for everything (I got case fans too but who cares about those).

Finally put the build together last night - took longer than it should have since I haven't build a PC since 2011, but it wasn't too difficult to figure out once I did a smoke test on the fans to ensure they were pointing in the right direction for airflow.

Played Marvel Rivals last night and I was getting 110-120 FPS on High Settings on almost 4k resolution (3840x1600), I didn't see my CPU go over 48C whenever I checked on it - pretty happy with everything so far.

I grabbed a g722 PowerSpec. 7800x3d 5080 2799. It’s pretty sweet!

Went into Microcenter about a week ago, left with new PC parts came out to about 1800 all said and done.

Had to wait for a case though, sense they didn't have any non-RBG puke cases.

They were very sad when I said it was a 8 hour drive and I wasn't gonna be back in the area for a long time.

5070ti
Intel Ultra 7
Asus TUF MB
2 32gb stickies
4tb NvME

coming from a 1080, worth it.

I was going to build one but with 5080's around 1400-1500, I figured why do that with the price point this was at (I had to overhaul everything anyway) with solid components. Heard good things from some folks here about powerspec too.

If I had done a build on my own, it would have been $1710 without the video card for the same parts in this Powerspec G722. With the MSI 5080 GTX $1499 would have tossed me to $3200 for the same PC with me building it. At $2700 I thought that was a steal without the hassle of building.

This thing runs like a dream though. I was timid of WIndows 11 after all the shit I heard about it - but I am guessing things are a lot better now then they were because all I had to do was move my taskbar to the left. Aside from some UI changes it's pretty much the same.

But now I am thinking about a few things. Hook this bad boy up to my home theater to compare games from a PS5 Pro and this high end PC (I am guessing Cyberpunk will be unreal with everything turned on with Path Tracing and Ray Tracing and way more activity on the screen), or, upgrade this LG 27" 1440p display I have and sink my teeth into a 32" OLED 4k (MSI or Asus).

It's a conundrum :p

Also now with bluetooth I can use my old Xbox Wireless controller without an adapter and keep my old wired Xbox controller on standby.

As far as Win11 I know a lot of people are pissed because according to the next preview build you will no longer be able to by-pass having a Windows Login, they are fixing the loophole in the pro version, and removing the over all script that lets you set Win11 into a "Build" mode, it lets you update Windows and install drivers/software without needing a proper software key.

Other then a few odd ball things with the new UI I haven't really had any problems with it, coming from 10..(although 7 is still the best..)

My case has a side window and RGB on the motherboard, I was able to turn it off with their software.

No glass on my new case.

I only see my tower once a year these times, just to clean it out, replace fans that are annoying me and redo thermal paste.

I would have just used my old case still, but some odd reason newer CPUs require more airflow.
