They're louder because the power consumption has crept up quite a lot over the years, even midrange cards are now at the level top end cards were 10 years ago (original Titan card was 250 watts, the 5070 has the same and the 5090 more than double that).

Rather than messing with fan profiles I suggest using the power limit feature using MSI afterburner, lower power limit means less heat generated so lower cooling requirements. You will lose some fps but the relationship is by no means linear (cutting power 30% might only cost you 10% fps).

How much you can cut the power budget depends on the game you're playing. No point in putting up with a bunch of noise to run a game at 150 fps when it's just as playable at 100 fps.

I need to do some undervolting on my cpu and gpu but I haven't really had time to tinker.

Well we knew the 8GB card shouldn't really exist last year, but this one is really bad.

RMA updated today. Not sure if I’m expecting any results email or any feedback as there was never a notification sent this process started / finished. Guess it is a waiting game to see what happens next.

I picked up a 9070XT Red Devil from Amazon (sold by Power Color) for $849 a few weeks ago. Was something of a preorder as the expected ship date was anywhere in May, but it got here a couple days ago.

Regarding MSRP, the 9070XT is/was supposedly getting subsidized by AMD to hit that price point for certain base models. The actual MSRP is probably $649 if/when those incentives expire. But AIBs basically make no money on base models any more, and the days of +$50 for the premium SKU are long, long gone.

Just got a shipping notification that my Red Devil RMA is on the way back. It was kind of odd in their status flow it only lists "Return" as the last step. I got no other notifications of it moving through. Really only saw the shipping notification b/c PayPal Shipping picked up a FedEx shipment and I noticed it was coming from California from TUL INC who I looked up and saw it is the U.S. Powercolor people.

It was already 5pm Central but emailed them anyways asking "What up?" and the CS guy emailed me back immediately saying that all Powercolor RMAs are replacements, so it'll be a new card.

Can't really complain about their support. April 7th to April 28th (scheduled delivery) to replace the card. They weren't a pain about fighting it and the CS was very helpful and responsive. Hopefully when this one gets in everything runs fine. Will test Monday evening.

Have a 3060 ti I am using as a backup now. It kind of whines at times. I guess I am in full use it till it burns up mode. If I got a 5070ti or 9070 I "may" have to change out PSU I'm not sure. It's 750watts but I have different connectors and it's a modular PSU but not really sure what I did with those cables and it rapidly gets into more than I want to mess with. So probably go till it goes no more than go with a pre built which I have not done in multiple decades.

Most cards should come with an adapter that lets you use the older 8 pin connectors.

If you want to get a new PSU make sure its ATX 3.1 as that is the latest standard. With how much of a shitshow the 12pin connectors have been I wouldn't put it past them to come up with another new connector soon so I'm personally hesitant to buy one right now.

I haven't opened my computer but I looked through my "stuff" and I had two 8 pin cables for a modular power supply and it's the only conmputer I've one in. More to think about. I looked up the gigabyte 3060ti to be sure and yeah it had a single 8 pin.

Likely will be fine then, most of the issues people have with adapters are with the top end cards or people putting them in under strain. 750w is going to be plenty for a 5070ti
