i still think JJA handed RJ a shit sammich with ep7. ep7 had the greatest star wars hero in history, she knew how to do everything right off the bat, she had zero training, zero stakes, zero loss and she had this simp, Finn sniffing her butt for the entire film. Han wasnt even a good mentor as she showed him how to operate his own fucking ship. they rehashed yet another death star, this one bigger and meaner, but still the same fucking thing and much easier to destroy. nobody even died smuggling the plans out. she just popped in and blew shit up and defeated the Luke trained Kylo. what was Luke supposed to do in TLJ? he ended up teaching her nothing because there was nothing she needed to learn.Episode 7 reset Star Wars after it was ruined by the prequels. Yes it was a rehash and yes it could have done it better or done more, it was the risk free way of not having another Phantom Menance and ending the franchise. It's a mix of a love of the originals and corporate greed.
If Episode 8 and 9 were good and answered all the questions raised by the lack of world building in 7, then we would be saying that it was a great movie. Instead 8 had even less world building and less answers, it exposed the weaknesses of 7 and made it seem worse. 8 was corporate and writing incompetence.
I haven't seen 9 but it sounds convoluted as it has to do the job of 8 in the same movie.
The single culprit is Kathleen Kennedy allowing Rian Johnson to film his existing first draft sci-fi script and slap Star Wars names on it, instead of doing the planned middle movie JJ Abrams sketched out.
Show that she is powerful but she can't control it as she is untrained.i still think JJA handed RJ a shit sammich with ep7. ep7 had the greatest star wars hero in history, she knew how to do everything right off the bat, she had zero training, zero stakes, zero loss and she had this simp, Finn sniffing her butt for the entire film. yeah, that plotline worked in Harry Potter, but they already shit the bed in TFA because Rey was perfectly capable of controlling her Force powers. Luke was as useless as tits on a bull and he meant absolutely nothing to her. SHE DONT NEED NO MAN..Show that she is powerful but she can't control it as she is untrained.
Have her be shit using the force with Luke early in the movie because she can't use the force if not under duress. She gets frustrated with Luke.
Then swole Kylo seemingly makes it easier for her to use the force in their hot shared dreams, tempting her to the dark side.
End it with her losing to Kylo (he was injured and under emotional distress in the first movie) and realising that she does need Luke's training. But maybe Luke is dead now and it's too late.
In the final movie she has to scavenge Jedi and Sith ruins to get training as scavenger was her character class in the first movie, so she's coming full circle.
Finale should be joining with a redeemed Kylo to create a new order from the ashes of the Sith and Jedi.
i guess they thought it made more sense to have Han do the Old Obi Wan routine than Luke because he was his dad, but Han was also a dead beat dad and had abandoned his family to be a space pirate. fucking great writing in TFA. should have had Leia tap out, but she was too stunning and brave for that to happen, there was some Mary Poppins shit they planned for her.The prequels had a much better story then the sequels, I loved how everything looked “clean” in ep1, thought phantom menace was great , didn’t mind jar jar at all as he was there for the kids. I thought it really set the stage.
Clones was meh, until yoda went nuts, the acting and dialogue in anakin/padme scenes was atrocious, ep3 was fun but as some said in this thread I just don’t buy Anakins quick turn then off to kill younglings, the episode 3 book was Better than the movie for sure. I always thought the Jedi should have banned anakin after finding out about padme abs anakin then he started flirting with palps and the dark side because he was “the chosen one” and had to continue.
I never saw ep 9, tried one night and fell asleep. The portrayal of Luke in 8 was so piss poor , so the guy who saves the greatest villain in movie history from evil, gives up on his nephew and tries to kil him ? Made zero sense , if anything luke should have tried something with Ben like Vader and Ben should have whacked luke.
7 has no soul. 8 and 9 were at least original creations, however abominable they may have been.
TFA was awful. In its own way it may have even been the worst of the sequels.
Can argue over whose Episode 8 would be the worst out of RJ, JJ, and Lucas but it's clear none of them should have that job. KK was in charge of filling that position and she went below and short of meeting any goals a new trilogy should accomplish.
Just finished Season 7 of Clone Wars, wow what an ending to the series. It was great how throughout the series, they always get so close to discovering Palpatine was the Sith Lord but never made the connection until the end. It was also sad how Ahsoka never got the chance to talk to Anakin before he swapped sides. The bullshit at the beginning of the season with the 2 retards was wasteful filler.
So yeah about that, there's this show called Rebels...
