Yeah, Whiplash is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year. I still think I prefer Grand Budapest Hotel better, but that was a damn good movie. That kid, he was in this and that horrible Divergent movie and The Spectacular Now, he is a pretty damn good actor.

I finally IMDB'd the kid from Whiplash, and I realized why I had the opposite impression of him. The only previous movies I've seen with him (besides Divergent where he's a douche) were Project X and 21 and Over, which were both mediocre teen party movies with him being the drunken buffoon. This was quite a departure from those roles.

The more I think about it, the more I like this movie.

I was just amazed by how a story about a subject I have absolutely no interest in could completely blow me away. The dialogue in this movie was just classic.

I'm actually going to get Oz because J K Simmons is in it.

I tried to watch The Boxtrolls, I really did. I couldn't last more than 15 minutes. How a movie like that got nominated over The Lego Movie mystifies me.

I still don't understand how Gyllenhaal wasn't nominated. On the other hand we have Carrell, Cumbernatch, Cooper, Keaton and Redmayne.

I decided to go ahead and watch Whiplash tonight. Man, Simmons should absolutely get an Oscar for that. The fact that Ethan Hawke is even nominated for the same category is obscene.

Like everyone else said, it was a movie about a subject I would never see a movie about, but damn was it captivating.

After rewatching some of these films Im even more disapointed. Best Film I would easily switch out Nightcrawler and Gone girl with a few of the best picture nominations. As a whole, both were better films than American Sniper, Boyhood, Theory of Everything, and Imitation Game

Watched Whiplash, Simmons nailed it perfect and while there's Norton running in the same category (Birdman) I wouldn't be surprised the bald fuck finally won an Oscar. As a musicfag I really enjoyed Whiplash but it's more of an raw experience than anything else. It's not the film you'd watch it once in a year type.

This is the first time I've watched it in at least 10 years. I like NPH. Some of his jokes have been pretty uncomfortable.

Not watching it pops up on Yahoo, Imdp or family tells me, will watch the Everything is awesome when its up on Utube. I would rather watch Oscars than Garbage like Walking Dead if I had to
