I liked Lucio more when he had more damage behind his shots. Now he just kind of feels like a walking aura. I play Mercy as my support main and people really underestimate her pistol. If you can snap to someone's head quickly as Mercy you can kill a ton of heroes if they blew cooldowns elsewhere. The number of Tracers who've fallen to my Mercy is absurdly high because they see a Mercy and just see a free kill but I pop a few headshots into them and they don't even blink or recall. Now that her gun gets free reload when her staff is out its so much more fluid to do that as well.

I've been trying to find my play-style with at least one hero from each archetype. Tracer/Pharah for offense, Torbj?rn/Bastion for builder/defense, Reinhardt for tank/defense and Lucio for support. These seem to fit my style more than the others. I love the fast movement toons the best.
Regarding heroes and mastering a role..

This has been brought up in this thread during Closed, and my opinion seems to differ from others, but I'm of the MOBA philosophy that if you want to be GOOD at the game then stick to ~3 heroes max. Don't even worry about archetypes. If you're a crappy healer then don't play one. Maybe it's a dick move, but I've yet to actually play any healer in this game.

My mains are S:76, D'Va, Mei, and Reaper

From that list of 4, S:76 and D'Va are the heroes I'll play 95% of the time.

Reaper is my "fun" hero (to take a break from Soldier but still rake in the kills)

Mei is my "last stand" or "be annoying as fuck for fun" hero. Being annoying is more fun than raking in kills

So.... yea.

I think its in your best interest as a player to at least try to be competent on Reinhardt and Mercy or Lucio. Those two are pluggable into almost any composition on any map which is why I'd call them out. Even if you're not the world's best Rein an average Rein on the team beats having no tank at all.

My best character is Tracer. Mastering the diagonal forward and diagonal back blinks has been so much fun. Once I've got the maps mastered with her I'll move onto S76 as he seems to be one of the most balanced characters to play.

I'm beginning to regret recently getting fiberoptic with how dumb this game computes shit. Playing junkrat and having very low ms delay is bad.

Glad the beta is over, now I don't feel "forced" to play. Back to HS. More RNG, yet somehow less frustration and rage haha. FPS haven't been for me in a decade anyways.

man i play at the same time as seagull streams and tab back when I'm dead (so a lot) and its insane the difference between him and me. just saw a game of his where he got 45 kills and 62% kill participation. JESUS!

only thing that sucks so far is getting into games where people won't even try to push the objective, not sure what they are thinking just hanging back always

I've never had a problem with junkrats tire with low ms. I also never use it where they can see the fucking thing coming a mile away.

I honestly have no fucking idea what is going on in this thread. They should make people watch seagull for 8 hours before being allowed to post, some of these complaints are just fucking ignorance.

Not to knock his skills, which are amazing, but you also need to take into account who he plays with. I always see the same people and 2 of them are reinhardt/mercy most of the time so he always has a shield to shoot behind from and a healer who watches him like a hawk for heals/buffs and rezzes even if its just him dying. And they all seem to be pretty good players, so pretty big difference between that and trying to solo queue or with some forum bros.

Blasting fuckers to their deaths as Lucio is some hilariously awesome shit.
Knocking people off the map never gets old.

I love how you're making every excuse without actually looking at your probably abysmal play

We played Seagull n pals today for 2 maps and his Genji is actually unreal to play against. I went roadhog to counter hook him and all that but his reaction speed to me throwing out hooks and blocking them was mildly infuriating, haha. Got shitstomped in front of 14,000 people. feels bad man. We did almost win on Nepal though! it was a 99%/99% stalemate but oh whale.

I'm really sad I have to wait a few weeks to play this game again.

I never said his tire was bad with low ms. What I meant was he doesn't benefit from 20 rather than 60 or 120 and the aim priority they have in place like other heroes do because of the nature of his weapon (e.g. bouncing grenades).

Actually my play has been great. I kept trying to find the fucking screenshot button to post earlier. I had plenty of POTG today and triple gold medals. I do just fine, specially after learning you can turn on auto climb on tire as well as many other "secret" options. We even needed a tank at the last minute on Pandaria so I switched to Rheinhardt who I had played once and I won us the game and got POTD with him too. I used to play a lot of FPS and it came back after a few hours. I just don't like them or this. And like I said, no problem with duo kills with tire. I guess I just expected more from it from reddit posts, but that isn't realistic, altho I did finally pull it off which was very satisfying.

A little tip. Use the walls and explode it above people like an aerial blast. Just in case people don't know, you climb walls with the jump button.

Seriously though people, watch Seagull play and ask him questions in chat. Dude knows his shit and will always answer your questions. All I am doing is repeating shit he says and have tried myself. I'm no fucking pro gamer, I just listen to people who are.

So, I've been beta testing this all weekend, and my feelings are pretty mixed. To start off it has some of the best designed and highly polished classes/abilities of any team shooter I've ever played. This really goes a long, long way when it comes to a game like this since they are the focus of the game.

However, I am really feeling how repetitive the game gets with the very simple maps/game modes. The game is extremely fast paced, and this matches the simplicity of the heroes very well, but it does lead to sort of a groundhog day syndrome where after a couple of matches I have to take a break.
That's about where I am and why I'm going back and forth on buying it. I can jump in for a bit and have fun, but since matches are much shorter than I'm used to in TF2, fatigue sets in faster. I probably play the same number of matches in each before I need to take a break, but that can be a couple hours in TF2 depending on the maps vs. 30 minutes in Overwatch. It makes me wonder how long I'd really remain interested in it.

On the other hand, I think the thing Overwatch does better is that there is much more diversity in its characters where, if I get bored with one, I can switch to another and it feels completely different. If I wanted to heal in TF2, I had the option of playing Medic. Even switching weapon loadouts for him really didn't change much how the character played. In Overwatch, there are the four support heroes plus a few offense/defense characters that can fill that role somewhat. Even a character like Mei can satisfy wanting to play a supportive role.

I think I'll just need to do like other people are mentioning and pick 3-4 characters to focus on improving. Right now, I've just been bouncing around a lot to try to get a feel for each class, which basically means I'm playing most characters horribly. And I imagine that adds a lot to the fatigue.

I watched that game, good hooks man, even he said something about it more than once (like holy shit, glad I reflected when I did etc).

Game is a riot, but I feel like once the player base levels up and the real autists for tracer/genji start to come out of the woodwork I'll be having a lot less fun.
