Well it has been a few days of matches. I missed bits but watched around half of the Japanese region.
The observers are good, but the overall production is a bit strange. Odd choice of colours and fonts. Sometimes ingame events will flash stuff up on the screen TEAM KILL etc.
I thought commentary was going to be the strong point. The first match I watched was the old Wolf and Achillios team that I rate very highly. Today is Achillios and some guy I've never heard of that can barely speak english.
The latter seasons of the league tried this as well. Breaking up the duos and mixing in the new diversity hires. Didn't work out very well. Gradually as the seasons wore on the greats got slowly replaced. Now and then there were some surprises; I really liked the Lemonkiwi + Legday duo, but most were big downgrades.
Too early to say if I'd recommend it. Korea starts this weekend. I'm hoping Avril is there.

One great thing about all of this is that co-streaming is allowed. If you don't like commentary just turn on the stream of someone you like.

I do enjoy the game. I play with my teenager and we are having fun. Last DPS patch was really great IMO. There is not really any equivalent on the market.
Not a fan of the design of the new character. Her kit is really fun to play. The opposite to the last character they released. Mauga's design and personality was fun but his kit is kinda uninspiring and easy to play.

I don't know how they expect to sell skins for characters when they are ugly as sin. It's part of the reason why this game didn't make any money in the 2nd half of the year.
This is their first "non-binary" hero.

I suppose the new dev team is testing the waters with a 6v6 meta. Funny how eight years have passed and we've circled back around again.

I feel like the main appeal of Rein being a very decisive tank was neutered from the start. Nerfed charge pins, the nerfed fire strike damage (although having 2 gives me mixed feelings) and the lack of a back up tank definitely makes the hero look less appealing.

The esport league won't be able to go back to 6v6 unless blizzard goes all in on it and makes changes to all the tanks. They will all have to be re-tuned.
Rein has a 60% win rate on ladder. It'll be interesting if they nerf him. More than likely they will. D'Va is most definitely getting a nerf next week. Winston might get some nerfs, but nobody really complains about him so he might not get any.
The entire issue with being the only tank is all the pressure if on you. 6 v 6 was much better. I only play tank anymore is if I get it when I do my 3 RQ's for the daily. I used to Q for all three roles all the time now but not anymore. Playing tank is awful right now.
