I don't know if most people just don't understand Zarya's mechanics but it seems so easy to get to 80-100% charge and then you just lob plasma nades into their team and watch them all die

It'd be cool if they implemented a system where you choose three heroes, and everyone on the other team can see your selections, and you're only allowed to alternate between those three.

Personally the free switch is much ado about nothing in my opinion. People are trying to fix something which is not broken.

Yea. If stacking too many of a class is creating problems, that means that class doesn't have a strong enough counter, which means even 1 of them could have a warping effect. Increase the counter strength to make diversity stronger than stacking. The switching is integral to the system in the first place, and limiting is just asking for people to bitch about that instead.

Yes honestly if they cap it at one per game or team I'll reevaluate my stance after some more games. I just can't take anything seriously when the opp switches out to 5 turrets and a reinhart and stuff like that.

Problem is, if you have one x and y counters it, only one person has to switch to y. If you have 6x and you need 6y to counter, everyone has to switch. It becomes annoying because it breaks down your team composition. 6monkeys isn't that strong against like D-Va/Roadhogs everywhere or whatever, but you have to play these to actually counter it, and not just the one guy who doesn't mind switching, but everyone, including pub star Widow only guy and support guy who like only playing supports.

I didn't mean it's too strong, I don't think any of the 6stack stuff is too strong, I meant it's annoying and disruptive. And in some few cases, too strong. Hanamura attack with 5monkeys and lucio is a bitch to counter, because you can't actually just switch as soon as you see them, you have to die first, and basically by the time you switch from dying to first push, they're already on B capping, so you better have everyone switch and win the fight or you lost the entire game in a 2mins rush. Granted, a lot of the issues is the map itself, it's way too fast to cap and win off basically one won teamfight, especially now that ultimates don't build on damage taken(so whoever loses the first teamfight is unlikely to have ultimates, but whoever won probably has 4-6).

Except the 1:1 counter shouldn't be exactly accurate, if it's a real counter. You should counter the one and be able tokeep going. It's super tricky balancing all the different characters with that kind of system and Blizzard is not really known for doing anything like that so it's only a napkin theory really. I can agree with it being annoying/disruptive depending but it can also be hilarious. I feel like the counters are the balance points and they aren't all there, as well as some characters just getting buffed too much in this second beta.

Solution: Have some servers with class/hero caps. Then you can choose to join them.

The end.

Personally I used to hate that shit in TF2 when you joined a server that enforced that via scripts. Inevitably, some fucking idiot ALWAYS had the class you were actually good in and you got stuck with something else.

I don't agree with that at all. If some team goes 6 Reinhardt you really only need a couple Pharah to play above them and just AOE rocket them all to death. Ideally the counters should work that a team doesn't have to counter-stack to be effective. It is just the McCrees have to get off McCree and go Pharah if that happens but your Mercy shouldn't have to get off the support role as well.

People are trying to fix something that only occurs rarely and at best are strategies used simply to push a payload from 99% to 100%. Right now Torb and Bastion can only really be stacked because they're blatantly OP and lack real counters.

Worked well on Battlefield servers, kept the number of snipers to a minimum

Overwatch Beta Patch Notes ??" February 18, 2016 - Overwatch Forums

Though I feel the changes to Torb/Bastion will put Lucio pretty heavily in most people's target for being too powerful now
Yeah Lucio is definitely great, and I always end up fucking playing him because no-one else ever wants to play heals, and I just know that if they have a Lucio and we don't its pretty much gg and my competitive streak won't let me just say fuck it and play something else. On the plus side, he is fun to play so its not all bad. Personally, I think reinhardt is just as vital to a teams success as Lucio, they are pretty much mandatory if the other team is running them too. The game does need more support classes though, Id hope some more would be added before release (and possibly another tank also) so that the dickheads in my team in solo queue can feel free to ignore them all and play 2 tracers instead. The salt is real. I also think genji is very very strong, and wouldn't be surprised to see him reigned in a bit. As for the torb/bastion nerfs .. I actually softened a little towards them when my MMR went up and my team mates knew how to deal with them. I think the problem is (was?) that even when we did counter their strategy and chunked them down, it took so long to deal with the no-cost turret re-placement and heals that we'd sometimes lose the objective anyway when clearly we were winning it was just taking so long to push through. The bastion nerfs seem a little OTT to me, I think his armor needed reduced a little and his turning arc slowed so you could actually counter him, but I guess we'll see.

The mei changes are nice, I definitely did feel that using her secondary was fucking with her primary fire so its nice to see that change because I didn't think that was on their radar at all. Also good to see changes to DVAs ult. DVA is another one to watch because she basically gets an extra life and her damage is not completely terrible, so making her call-mech too fast would really push her over the edge. 20% seems substantial but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Her ult did feel slow to build before so its nice that was buffed a little.

Overall, I kind of feel like the game could use more counters to ultimates in the form of other ultimates or whatever. Like it feels good when I lucio shield a big damage spike or something but most of the time the solution to enemy alts is to just run the fuck away. I think i'd like more interaction between them and would increase the skillcap a bit.

Playing Mercy when your team is bad is the most frustrating experience on the planet. Just Pharahs jumping around and doing nothing but sight seeing while I have a full damage charge on them. Reinhardts doing full distance charges away from me. Team mates running away from me when I'm trying to Shift to them. God. Damn.

Yeah, I feel your pain. It reminds me of HOTS in that respect, sometimes you are just utterly crippled by your team mates. On the other hand, I was having a rare pharah day (I actually really like her, my first online fps was quake
biggrin.png
), and a good mercy never left my side the whole game and god damn was the damage/surivability ridiculous. I got pretty burnt out on HOTS just because 1 good player seemed to make so little difference if your team were full of potatos in solo queue, Im hoping this game finds a sweet spot. I friended up a random guy for some games last night who seemed like an ok player but who had a really good attitude always typing 'good game, close' when we lost or whatever, and we went on a nice winstreak with him just derping about on reinhardt and me on lucio/soldier. Think we even bumped into bakery/schwimpi (pro HOTS players) and took some games from them. Fun night

You can carry harder in this game than HOTS could ever dream of. Shit if you are a good Tracer or Genji you can almost win by yourself.

I found a good genji completely decimating (i am not a good genji). I really enjoy tracer and feel fair on her, but she seems to be able to be picked off quite quickly. Whats the strat for carrying on tracer? I poke the pokeables but it seems quite hard to do anything effective on offense. Maybe thatll be better now.

Well her pistols have zero recoil so you have to make sure to get headshots. It almost feels like her damage is tuned with you getting a ton of headshots in mind. Her damage is pretty bad if you just unload a round into a player's body. When the enemy team is regrouping and running back to the objective you either completely pick of stragglers or force them to defense against yourself at which point you just queue the Benny Hill music. You need to understand your counters and how to counter them. McCree? He's going to see you and try to flashbang you immediately. So you have to anticipate it and Rewind just as you expect him to E. You need to have outstanding map awareness and know the ins and outs of the hallways because you'll be using every path except for the main path. You need to make sure to save your blinks to ensure you have at least 2 when you feel an engagement is going to occur because you need to move around so they can never get a bead on you. Like I said she carries. She isn't easy to carry as but she can make it so once they fail a push it becomes very difficult to get another 5 man push going again. Her and Genji probably have about the highest skillcap but hers is mostly about decision making where Genjis is more mechanical.

Good Tracers are an absolute headache. Genjis are a menace too. I'm not sure why they allow Hanzo to follow bullet-drop style shooting but somehow ninja stars are fucking mini railguns.

Carry Tracer is the Tracer that goes to the backline and then pick off people 1by1 as they respawn from the main fight, so that no one ever reaches the main fight anymore. Flee when low hp, regen via packs, and go back, constantly harassing and killing easy targets while they're not grouped, always 1vs1 where you have the advantage over almost everyone in the game. Against badly coordinated pubs who always rush back to the fight without waiting to group up, a single good tracer can completely disrupt reinforcements, then all you need is like one guy sitting on the payload with a healer and you'll win.

I think many heroes can solo carry to a good extent. I've done it a few times on Roadhog. One hook, one kill, just hook every motherfucker getting close to the payload, and keep that shit moving. If it gets stuck in one place, go flank the fuckers, there's very few heroes who can 1vs1 roadhog anyway, shit 1vs2 you'll win most of the time if you hook first. Then heal up, and go find some more victims. And then when you get near checkpoints, ult fuckers away from the payload to cap.

Great Widows/Hanzos can also dominate the game entirely from the backline, even on attack. You can tell the great Widows when you have the vision shit half the game, and it gives your entire team such an edge too.

Reaper on defense can also completely stump teams over and over by just getting a flank into Q PotG. It's counterable, but it'll still generally trade favorably and basically stop the push until rezes.
