Yeah I still haven't figure out Winston. I blow that shield and I feel useless after.

Gotta git gud
He's less of a tank and more of a chaser. Squishy heroes who are weak and at 50% hp are easy kills for him. Work on jumping all over the fuckin place. Drop that shield where your team is trying to cap to help them out, then go full ape with a lightning cannon. Point blank seems to do the most damage for him, and his punch is pretty strong as well. WTB right click for Winston.

I need to watch some winston vids, whenever I've tried him I end up leaping into everywhere I didnt want to be. (I tend to want a lot of shorter leaps and overshoot, definitely lulz rage mode, though I find myself over correcting twirling trying to hit stuff or again I leap and way overshoot and end up like Cincinatti.)
aim up before you leap with winston, he's more like a catapult with his leap, you go way further at between 45 and 70 degree facing upward angles than horizontal leaps (facing forward) where you barely move. eventually you get pretty good at judging the right angle you need to get to a specific spot.

and yeah they need to add a right click punch for Winston

I had that same problem with Winston initially. I tried to use him as a middle of the field battle tank like Reinhardt and he just gets shit on. There's a reason that every time you see an awesome Winston, he's flying through the air with a Mercy gliding right along behind him. That Winston + Mercy combo is a wrecking ball of gorilla madness.

You might not be playing Junkrat as aggressively as you should be.
Two heroes I do not mind seeing played "in the wrong role" are Pharah on defense and Junkrat on offense. Well played Pharah on defense can straight up ruin people's days when they are trying to organize for a push, likewise a well played aggressive Junkrat on offense can clear out a control points defenses by himself (without an ultimate) if there is a distraction from another entry. I play Junkrat usually only in defense positions because I feel I can better utilize other heroes on offense but there are times when I will switch. Usually on entrenched positions on top of a point. The first point in the Hanamura map is a great example of where a well played Junkrat can shine on offense.

On PC they need 12v12 or 16v16 and maps appropriate in size. I probably couldn't get enough if that was available. The draw of TF2 pubbing for me was the ability to drop in and get enjoyment playing my class of choice that moment. In Overwatch I feel pressured constantly to counter pick characters my teams current picks cannot deal with.

The game revolves around three decision trees at the meta level. The first is picking 6 characters that have some kind of synergy, the second level is picking compositions to take advantage of map specific details, and last is actively counterpicking the composition of the enemy during the match. Whichever team does this more has a huge advantage before the gates even open.

I can see the draw of these at the 6v6 organized level, but I think its a poor shell of what the solo Q pub experience has been on PC FPS in the past and what Overwatch could be right now I think Quake/Runequake FFA on maps like Wizards Manse, TF2/TFC, Threewave CTF, Unreal. These games all gave superior pub dropin gameplay and offered more players per side 20 years ago almost.

The main reason I would push for 16v16 is to allow for nearly all the cast to be picked, or at least a much greater diversity for the Solo Q casual experience. Let the chaos of the gigantic cast play freely. 6v6 doesn't feel that casual when the other team is try harding more than your own allies.

There's nothing quite like seeing an enemy Reinhardt on a control point with his team behind him, and throwing a mine JUST RIGHT and blowing them all off the fucking point. Makes my dick hard.

Welcome to pvp in a blizzard game. It's the FPS version of arathi basin in which no one fights on the flag/objective.

I'm convinced that the characters in Tf2 would yell their "get on the point, dumbshit" and "cart is not moving" lines specifically for these special types of players.

in many ways overwatch is an amazing personal training tool - if you are young you should solo q to build up that inner rage every time you lose, and your friends and family should encourage you to get insanely mad when your teammates let you down and build up that competitive spirit because fuck that whole "everyone is a winner" bullshit. Stoke those inner fires and unleash them in the real world.
I would argue Starcraft is a better tool than this. In Starcraft when you lose it is 100% because you fucked up. It will really make your mindset right for quickly learning and adapting to strategies which are not working. In a game like this, especially win with such limited stats like this, it is too easy to claim the reason a fuck up occured is because of your team mates. In actuality you should always reflect on what you yourself should have done better. Because at the end of the day you're the only hero within your control. Chances are if you're the guy constantly raging and blaming your team mates it is actually you who is fucking up. Like the classic "Team where are you!?!??" rager who is actually just never near his team and just runs around doing his own thing and then blames his entire team on not following his non-strategy.

You'll also notice the best athletes in the world who play team games always shoulder the blame. If a QB throws a pick because his WR ran the wrong route he won't rake the WR over the coals infront of the media, fans or players. He'll say he shouldn't have thrown that ball and it was a bad decision. Privately he'll know that the WR ran the wrong route but he'll also think to himself "Yeah he did, but you threw the pick."

The whole over-the-top-edgelord thing is just kinda lame. It's not even self-aware like I would expect, it's just straight-laced all the way through.
Oh, lol, I don't pay much attention to that stuff. I did scroll through his voice lines once and didn't find any good ones, but what-the-fuck-ever, still going to mow people down with him

I love playing Reaper on KotH maps, usually can soak up so many souls on the point that you just murder everyone. He also counters tanks which is necessary in close quarter combat, can't rely on max range poke to bust them up usually.

I like Reaper on certain KotH maps but usually only ones with poor sight lines for McCree high noon. Nepal Village, specifically, I play him heavily. I'd play him more if McCree wasn't just straight up a better Reaper than Reaper.

Yes winston is not a stand and brawl tank he is a jump around like a crazy man zapping people and leaving distruptor. He can jump in at setup nests of defenders and make them pay attention to him then GTFO before he takes to much beating. Its really hard to kill him if he is jousting well and then when he ults he is just flying all over the damn place.

True, I don't play Reaper on every KoTH either. I prefer him on Lijiang Tower mostly - all 3 maps are great for him.
On Nepal he's great in Village and Shrine, I prefer D'Va on Sanctum for the ability to knock people off ledge.
For Illios I normally only use him for Ruins.

I don't even mind the Reaper vs McCree fight because I've become practiced at baiting out the Flashbang with Shade and without the CC Reaper can usually take the fight. Reaper's damage is so insane, but he needs to be close range. If you Shade the Flashbang and stick to the McCree you can 1 or 2 shot him easily.

Ah yea I used to play Reaper heavily on Lijiang Night Market. Now I play Genji there, though. I also play Genji or Tracer on Control Room. I love 76 on Garden, though.

I don't think I use him anywhere on Illios. For the most part I play Roadhog on Well + Lighthouse and then Rein on Ruins if we need a tank or Junkrat there. Junkrat is fuckin OP on ruins.

I have had multiple 40+ elimination games with Winston now. I haven't recorded anything, but I'm really comfortable playing him.

If you have tried him and it doesn't seem to click, try playing him like Lucio. Be at the edge of the point, moving around, using line of sight to block enemies. Keep things contested. Jump to disengage or close the gap on a damaged target. Never, ever, jump to engage.

Another HUGE pro tip is to remember that you can start his leap while in the air. So jump off the top of something and get people to follow and while in mid air, leap back up. Or pretend to fall off the edge to lose aggro and come roaring back. Greece is the best place for that last tip.

I find I can't play more than 2-3 games before I need to put this down and go do something else... but I always come back after a bit. I'm not quite sure what is it that drives me to enjoy it only in isolated bursts.
You're not alone, I do this if I'm not in a preformed group playing with pubs is way more draining.

So the ban is HWID as well as the battle.net which means some people set up a new account and bought the game a second time, logged on and BANNED.

Oh the tears are so so delicious.
