I dont know about compared to olive oil, but I'm convinced butter is much better than margarine or any of those simulated spreads. Both of which were pushed as a healthier option by Rolex wearing doctors.

Back to the French Paradox thing, they use twice as much butter and eat a lot more saturated fat but have much lower instances of heart disease compared to the US.

your arteries don't assimilate animal fat and become clogged. that's not how the body works at all. the problem with fats arise when you promote inflammation by getting too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3, eating a high-fat AND high-carb diet, and consuming all those nasty trans fats.

Margarine doesn't really have trans fats anymore. When they came out as the newest OMG THIS WILL KILL YOU substance the margarine companies all reformulated.

This. Claiming that margarine still has trans fats in it is akin to complaining, in this day and age, that gasoline is the devil because it's leaded.

I don't even know anything that has trans fat anymore. All the common trans fat foods reformulated, ex McDonalds, margarine, ramen.

A lot of items still have trans fat but get away with saying "no trans fat " by messing with serving sizes, like cool whip.

I guess I just don't get why, doctor or not, Aychamo spends 10 years trolling this forum and having repeated meltdowns over the years, including a couple of self bans and a faked dead girlfriend, and then expects anyone to respect his authoritah on anything and acts like he's above argument.

You're a fucking douche, and always have been. What you do now is irrelevant for changing that.
I honestly don't care if I come across as a douche on the internet or not. I completely despise the dissemination of dangerous and inaccurate medical information by retards like Dashel who think the paleo diet is some miracle, and then pretend to have a basic understanding of reading scientific literature, only to actually misquote and interpret a study completely out of context, or retards like you who call the flu vaccine snake oil and minimize 30,000+ deaths per year. So yeah, I may be a douche, but you're a fucking moron who speaks out of their ass without having an elementary understanding of the topic. Mine's a personality defect, yours is an intellectual defect. I'd rather have a bad personality than a broken brain.

I've been unintentionally following a Primal style diet for ~3 months now and it's been the greatest change I've made to my life--I have had so much more energy and mental clarity and focus and the only thing I've changed is my diet. The basic principles I've followed are:

Get ~1g of protein per pound of LBM through protein powder and meats (80% chicken)
Eat massive amounts of veg--usually in the form of a veggie shake (spinach, kale, celery, cucumber, carrot, broccoli, and an apple)
Get my carbohydrates in the form of just a couple of fruits a day--usually blueberries, bananas, or apples.

Super simple to follow, has had outstanding effects in terms of mental and physical performance, haven't had too many cravings for anything cheat-like, and there is no way that any of this could be considered even remotely unhealthy. The only difference between my diet and a "clean" bodybuilding diet is that I eat a few fruits instead of brown rice or sweet potatoes.

Honestly, as long as you don't get into the Atkins mindset that drinking liquid bacon is ok because it doesn't contain carbs then you're not really doing any harm. Your body is great at giving you feedback on what you're doing, listen to it.

I'm no proponent of Atkins, but iirc Atkins is pretty strict about bacon and fat consumption in general.

Oh, the magical "CHANGED MEH DIET< NO MORE COLDS!" crap. lol.
Not sure why you're being so hostile, but I'm only stating a plain fact. As long as I can remember, I would catch colds frequently, and often have runny nose issues. After changing my diet, I've had none of that. Literally zero. I'm not claiming other people will have the same experience, but the variable I changed in my life was what I ate, so I'm lead to believe that was the primary factor with my health issues.

Good to hear. Have you ever tried adding back grains to see how you felt? I'm more than convinced on the sugar part of the equation, and all the processed foods that sugar and HFCS finds it's way into. Grains I'm sort of mixed. I definitely buy into the processed whole wheat bread being crap, bagels and most cereals etc. I'm even on board with gluten being something to be aware of. But then you get to things like rice or oatmeal and I still am thinking it might not be ideal but it's not "must avoid at all costs".
It seems like wheat does a number on me. In the last year, on the rare occasion that I ate anything heavy in wheat content (pastries, ramen, etc.) I would experience stomach cramps and mild cases of diarrhea later in the day. I never experienced the same issue with small portions of rice (when consumed as a part of sushi). I may have a light case of celiac disease or something, although I consumed tons of bread and wheat for most of my life. It could just be psychological. For the most part, though, I completely avoid grains. Some seem more benign than others, but I don't really miss them that much anyway, so I figure I'll just play it safe.

Yeah, Atkins really stresses to stay away from cured/processed meats and recommends lean proteins in general.

Guess I'm mistaken about Atkins. I thought their claim to fame over other ketogenic diets was bacon and cheese with everything is fine because it's low carb. My point remains the same though!

Honestly I think most people would benefit from adopting something like this even if for no other reason than it will mentally help you restrict most of the foods that are causing people to be unhealthy in the first place.

Cheezits are baked and cavemen used fire so I'm pretty sure a box of cheezits is an acceptable paleo breakfast.
