I'm confident good questions will be fielded so long as it's time to talk about them. I only lurked back in the Curt days and there definitely was some level of sucking up there, but the worst part was he had nothing to show for it. Brad is going to have an early demo of the new game and the entire nature of such a project is strong communication with the people backing it. There should be frequent enough updates and actual media to support what's being said which offers a level of transparency most publishers would never allow.

The only Copernicus media we ever saw came after the news broke that 38S had just imploded.

There's already a valid list of questions here and I don't see why he'd restrict the answers to questions like "how much awesome is in your awesome game?" There's always Reddit anyways (not that I have an issue with going there, but they've become the go-to place for developers validating their own design). Similarly, people shouldn't confuse mean-spirited questions with critical thinking. My best hope is that solid question, comments and concerns get tossed out there about the current game in development and we get some solid answers.

There will always be people who throw softballs.. Let's just hope the real questions get the responses they deserve.

Hopefully less here after the Schilling fiasco on fohguild. Brad does have a slight advantage over Schilling though as he's actually shipped two titles - though the second had some major issues.

I'm more concerned about Brad saying too much - particularly early when the design document has all these great ideas that will take more time and money than NewCo will have. Brad has always struck me as the type of guy a large company would never let speak to the press without a chaperone to cut off the microphone when he starts over-promising.

I think the entire MMO industry has a history of over-promising (and continues to do so) which builds up unrealistic expectations in people's heads. I get where you're coming from, but I hope the nature of this game's development leans toward talkingandshowing on a regular basis. What I assume to be the scope and objective of this game (keyword assume) shouldn't revolve around anything so far beyond the realm of reality that it's not doable, which is where I feel like a lot of the over-promising comes from.

You are right of course, but I'd like to see Brad/Newco avoid that. Answers should be qualified:

-planned for release
-stretch goal for release
-future expansion
-never
-if technical or budgetary constraints allow.
-etc

I want to know the core game play they want at release. I'm much less interested in stretch goals or anything else. So I want a way to identify that.

The problem is he can't be tight lipped if he wants to actually fund his project. Large companies are all about control. It's why we have the MMOs we currently have. As much as I dislike crowd funding, I do enjoy actually hearing from developers and having the process be more transparent.

I'm not suggesting that Brad can't promise the moon - I'd just like a qualifier. You'll be able to go to the moon in two to three expansions.

I'd also like to see Brad repost his VG mea culpa.

Yes indeed. What may sell "the crowd" on Brad's endeavor in my mind is his ability to "flex his vision" while being able to communicate the steps to get there. By steps I mean <insert kickstarter goals etc here > with a baseline that represents the core gameplay.

Perhaps this is the obvious in most kickstarters, but if history serves brads designs will be wider and deeper than most....

i hope the game isn't just a race to max level. some of the lower level EQ zones had a bunch of good thought put into them, but on modern EQLive they're completely empty because of how quickly you can blow through levels.

On reflection, I'm almost more interested in what Brad is not going to do - so I'd like to see some "We are not" answers. In particular something along the lines of: we are not going to try and build three continents half full of content ;-)

I'd give you an Internet Fedor but that got taken away. I've been looking up Unity games (and playing some I own) to get a better understand of what it can do. It's isometric, but Obsidian uses it for Pillars of Eternity and it looks fantastic.

My confidence in the engine rose after looking up some quality games that use it.
