Hasbro's new digital arm is working on a Magic the Gathering MMO, if you want to go full nerdception.

It is kind of amazing how they just copied EQ's classes across the board. They even changed Crusader back to Paladin. The only new "names" are Summoner (Magician) and Dire Lord (Shadow Knight). People always talk about all the new and unique classes in Vanguard, looks like they said fuckit here and played it safe.

Erudite --> None
High Elves, Wood Elves, Half Elves --> Elves
Barbarians --> Archai
Dwarves --> Dwarves
Dark Elves --> Dark Myr
Ogre --> Ogre
Human --> Human
Halflings --> Halflings
Gnomes --> Gnomes
Troll --> Skar
There were what, two unique classes in Vanguard in the disciple and BM? The others classes were copied in name, but not in playstyle and that's where the well designed classes hypothesis comes into play.

Do we know how Druids will play? Shamans? Dire Lords? etc.

Btw, there was no Magician class in Vanguard was there? Did Sorcerers get pets?

Sorcerers had elementals I think? Maybe remembering wrong. Psy had mind controlled/clones stuff, Necros had necro stuff, Shaman had a summon based on their speciality(phoenix/bear/wolf), Bards could temp charm iirc and that was more or less it for summons, but it's been so fucking long I could be wrong. Maybe Druids had some summon too.

Actually googling classes, Sorcs didn't have any summons, might be thinking of DAoC elementals. Druids had earth eles.

I noticed they posted on their forums some explanations and thought process regarding many of the combos. Link below if interested.

I think Druids did, and so did Rangers. But most of these were sidekick type shits, not a tried and true elemental class.

So basically the pet classes were Necro and Shaman.

Psi had a lot of focus on pets too. You could mind control about everything and the pets would have special abilities based on what you mind controlled(assuming the data was in the files, which for most mobs it wasn't) and they were permanent iirc.

I just hope they have charisma so I can roll another paladin XXX charisma since it's GOTTA do something. Right guys?
Amusingly enough, eventually it became the only starting stat that mattered, since everything else was just naturally capped by gear, and your Charisma increased the proc rate of those stupid cleric "death save" effects.

Not a big effect, but hey~

Not so much during vanilla, but yeah after Kunark and especially Velious that shit didnt matter at all. People were rolling Ogre and Troll enchanters and shit (kidding)

Would you settle for a coupon for Mozzarella sticks and a telephone number for your local dealer instead?

Some of the new stuff is interesting but it really is more of a rehash of very old classes than even Vanguard was. Nothing wrong with old favorites but I hope the changes go beyond a few racial restrictions, etc EQ got really repetitive and stale in later expansions with a slightly different name for the same old spells upgraded. Still waiting for Curdling Darkness the ultimate snare spell!!!
