No pledging, no signing up for this, or that. The initial process is smooth as butter. Just buy the shit on Steam and log in. Nothing extra about it which was quite appreciated after signing up for all these different beta's and alpha's and all that bullshit.
I don't like people. Does any class solo well? What escapes exist for each class?
You've probably got limited choices then. Necro's in as your old go-to, and you can make some pretty quick money starting out by having summon corpse so early. Wasnt a soul around yesterday to get my corpse out of a fkn cave that went from lvl 6 mobs to probably level 12+? So I paid him like almost 16s to get my corpse. Then saw less than 5 mins later people were paying upwards of 25s. I know that doesnt sound like a lot to you - but thats big money in the low levels lol. I think I've also heard Shamans are the best soloer's.
I honestly picked Cleric just to be able to get groups quickly. Thought there would be population issues, but there arent. Turned out to be a really fun class to play that still had that responsibility. Like you start combat with a Gap opener for everyone else, long range insta (Still not sure on this one, but with a Wizard in the group - he said he was able to chain one of his spells off it? Not sure, but since its insta cast - I just do it. )
Then an insta cast melee DPS spell that makes your next beneficial spell free, so you cast the big shield thats like a discipline priests bubble from WoW. Then go on to cast your free DPS spell, and start melee. If people start to get hurt, and you need mana, its got a free 20% mana spell that has a relatively short refresh. So you're basically only sitting down after a bad pull. Small heal, big heal, bigger heal. Revive, Cures, HP/Armor Buff, etc. etc. .... I mean, its basically a Holy Paladin without all the BS. Maybe itll change in the later levels? But I sure af hope not. The concept is really good/fun. Since the only time I am engaging in the ass sitting is when there is a bad pull.
Most of my gear has wisdom on it and Im slowly replacing it with higher wisdom stuff. Went with Provisioning, and I've made myself wisdom food with that too. So .. Maybe its just where Im geared for my level? I dont know. But I do want to play other classes and see what theyre like. Invited another Cleric to the group yesterday so I could add my big nuke to the rotation and... They just sat there playing like an EverQuest Cleric. Completely clueless that they can add DPS to the fight? Or just lazy. I also saw how a DL in one group was basically completely able to sustain himself 90% of the time, still wearing rags. But a DL in the same camp, wearing a full suit of crafted leather - was getting the shit beat out of himself.
I mean the player skill difference in this game doesnt seem like it would be a lot - but Im rather impressed with the Dev's that they've implemented such light touch things that you can tell the difference between a shitty player and a good player just by how theyre using their spells.
