It's better now than it ever was before, but there are still a lot of WTF? issues they seem unwilling to tackle. I suspect the agenda is to maintain the status quo since an MMO this old is basically just a cash cow they occasionally feed a little hay.
We are just desperate. But that's what happens when a company fumbles ass backwards in to a success and then spends the next 14 years dismantling it while constantly failing to provide any reasonable alternative.
I know innovation in gaming is at an all time low these days, but still... a decade and a half, that's a lot of time to outdo the past generation. And yet there are still all these people (me included) pining over a chance to play something that resembles some low/mid budget game from the 1990's. If that's not a sign that the entire genre is embarrassingly weak then I don't know what is.
EQ Next sounds cool to me, they are doing more or less what I always hoped they would do, and provide something new and different. Because that's what EQ was all about, it was a fresh experience. Although it sounds like their way of doing it is to make some kind of kids action game. I haven't read much but it looks like dreamworks and sounds like some kind arkham world of norrath type thing. Hopefully it will be good but the deep nerdy tactical online RPG some of us have craved for 10 odd years has still never shown up or even come close. Pretty sad that Brad is the only one we have to pin our hopes on, but at least it's something. :/
Faintly. I remember a beige steel desktop PC, and some game about elves and stuff, and I was wearing my hypercolor t shirt, listening to ace of base.
There's a good chance this Kickstarter will show more of Brad's game than SOE has of EQN proper. I mean, some concept art would damn near give it the edge.

I'm not sure why anybody is excited at this point. Sure it's great that brad is making another Mmorpg, but it's going to be like three years before we get even a beta invite? At the very, very least, it will be a year before we get anything to even be excited about. Who here is ready to sit around on your ass waiting for tid bit teasers for the next few years?
Worst case scenario, we sit around for a few years waiting to play the game only to have the company go under before the game comes out like Curts game. Fuck man I wanted to play that game. All that time. All the teasing. NOTHING! Not even a fucking beta.

Putting Brad's name on it gives me hope that the game might be something closer to what I enjoy (basically old EQ.... with some modern twists). And I will probably even give him money, which I have yet to do with a Kickstarter. But I will do so believing that there is a better than 50 percent chance the game will never see the light of day.
I hope I am wrong in that assessment. It really depends on how much of a salesman Brad is and what kind of talent he can entice into the fold early. If he does succeed in the kickstarter then it will probably be with about the same amount of money that Camelot Unchained has recieved. Which is really not enough.
It's because of getting the Troll Ninja Paladin w/guns and Disney Eyes reveal for the next Everquest Game.
I already know they are going to royally fuck up the EQ world and not make my type of game now with that , Brad's become the only hope out there it seems.
