4 months pre-KS development and 36 months of post-KS development = 40 months total.Actually the 3 year schedule does not seem to include the time from September to January. The ks tiers all list an estimated date of January 2017.

That's just another form of keying, which I don't necessarily mind, but I hope this type of encounter would be more the exception than the rule. Even the hardcore gamers in EQ got sick of key quests and those same hardcore gamers hated resist checks during vanilla WoW. There are plenty of mechanics I would like to see revisited. Unbound gear without level requirements and buffs that can be cast on anyone regardless of level are two huge ones for me. There are some mechanics I think there is an opportunity to improve. Resist checks are one of those. Here is a better idea.......
Make it be required AA's for level of climate access. You need 250 cold resist at least to be able to kill the ice dragon on top of the mountain... The more AA you get in cold resist..the less gear you need for cold resist etc etc. You can use a mixture of time spent in a cold zone with actual AA spent to get a desired cold resist. I think this gives a purpose and desire for AA as well as a goal to reach the top of the mountain.
My impression from the article is it could be both permanent and expiring.OK, so this suggests it is more of a permanent character solution. That I don't mind. However, in your interview you made it seem like a "buff" that requires ramp up time or "acclimation" and would then degrade over time upon leaving that environment. Which is it? or is it both?
Also, is this an idea you plan on implementing as a core part of game world, or is it a stretch goal?
Are you an engineer? You should join the Rerolled MMORPG project. As for myself, I was one of those unfortunates fired in the parking lot (still employed in MMOs though!), so I have a certain negative reaction to seeing Brad's shenanigans once again in full swing. It looks like this ill-thought-out project probably won't make it, so at least he won't be rewarded again for deceiving folks, but even people who don't know much about game design or MMO production should be able to understand production bottlenecks. With their current team of SOE/Trion castoffs and their egregious lack of technical skills (not a personal attack per se - this is a problem endemic to MMO designers), they would have no chance of producing a playable anything even WITH plenty of funding and a real game design document, which I do not believe they even have.
Yeah, it sounds like there are different outfits of clothing you can change into and out of AND there is a buff you accumulate over time as you acclimate to the weather. My impression from the article is it could be both permanent and expiring.
I suspect the reality will come down to testing.
As a schill I will say being able to have the ability to provide feedback on potential mechanics at this stage of development is fairly unprecedented. Even when theorycrafting for announced games, development is always way ahead of the discussion.
I too would like to see more information on combat concepts and mechanics.
People are/were willing to ignore Vanguard and pledge if (IF!) the KS looked as if it warranted support. And if they are willing to do that then restarting a KS 'a few months to a year' later should be child's play, assuming that (again) the KS looks like it warrants support. My biggest worry with the campaign failing is that if they come back in a few months to a year is that people wont actually take them seriously and will just point out again and again that their last kickstarter failed so why back this one?
How come Brad doesn't hire women? Is he sexist?
Empathy to your vanguard employment experience. The whole fiasco was bad and I can't imagine being involved in the way you were. There is only one person on the VR team who writes actual code. Ask ANYone who's ever worked on a small team project or a startup whether your first 11 people should look like this:
Vision guy - B. Mcquaid
Engineer - J. Weimann
Artist (concept) - J. Rochelle
Artist (props) - F. Beleno
Artist (environment) - V. Nguyen
PR guy - B. de la Durantaye
Designer - S. Grant
Designer - T. Garcia
Designer - N. Walling
Designer - C. Lefever
Designer - L. Gullo
Personality defects aside, none of these designers can write useable code for an MMO. I know this because I've worked with most of them, some directly, some indirectly.
Fwiw, it should look more like:
Vision guy/CEO (gets dat money)
Engineer (server and backend)
Engineer (tools and pipeline)
Engineer (gameplay)
Engineer (gameplay/AI)
Artist (concept and props)
Artist (props)
Artist (environment)
Designer (systems and content, must have excellent excel/scripting/writing skills)

If this is true, I feel for you dude. I just take what you're saying with a grain of salt.. You've been here for years but never posted anything but a few random numbers. nm.. I see why now.I'm moderately biased, of course, it was a pretty negative experience but I made it through and have had success in the interim. I just want people to understand what they're looking at, in case they see a list of MMO designers and think they're going to be implementing core gameplay features instead of waiting around for the sole engineer to do that work.
Prolly to get to Screenshot forum. If this is true, I feel for you dude. I just take what you're saying with a grain of salt.. You've been here for years but never posted anything but a few random numbers.. what was that about anyway?
Sorry misread. I was thinking in the context of the project being pushed with a thirty six month development period.4 months pre-KS development and 36 months of post-KS development = 40 months total.
makes sense now. Apologies.Lots of lurkers just posted numbers to hit the 5 post requirement to view screenshots.
Maybe but I don't give a shit about a person's join date either. Some of these Jan 14 kids are making better post than the seasoned vets. I think it's retarded that anyone here is mocking newly joined members. Do we want the same sandy vaginas for the next 10 years? I'd like a few fresh vaginas thank you.Save us? Motherfucker there is a reason brad came here first.... Id put hard cash down most of the backers they got are from this site and are all over 250+ dollar pledges. Get that shit out of here
I actually did internet Popo.. That's why I edited out and apologized.. They already posted tho..Ugh. You have to make five posts to get access to forums. Why don't you look at the damn thread he posted them in?
