Not a fan of subclassing. Don't understand the point.
TBH, I prefer flat classes as well. But I'll wait for the PC gamer reveal.
Add me to the preferring flat classes list. Use more flat classes for more variety if needed.

I don't get it ... It's Brad and it's everquest all over again ... But the magic is gone you see, you already banged the virgin the 1st wedding night. And it was good.
Good luck to Pantheon, really, but it will be only another heroic fantasy MMO probably, because the market is flooded by those, 82.8 % actually.
So, old concepts, old ideas, "veteran" devs, going for ANOTHER heroic fantasy MMO and promising the new dawn of the genre ? I simply can't buy it.
The market is flooded with anything but old schoolish fantasy mmo's, that's the point. The current market is full of hub/instanced , make everything easy , remove social interaction needs , lobby games.

Let's give you a little taste.

Now... Before I lay out a very royal can of whoop ass on you for knowing more about your organization than you do from my igloo in Minnesota, I suggest shutting up before embarrassing yourself. I have all night.
How much did that janitor job pay?

I teach Cisco/MS/Networking classes a couple nights a week. How much of grey area would I be into ethically for offering bonus points for KS'ing ,and more for each receipt them bring in of getting friends of theirs to buy in also ? I would think barely grey area ?

It's an absolute debacle. Unfortunately, even in 2014, we have MMO's like ESO and Wildstar still trying to suck the WoW stragglers into their own little nice happy clap-your-hands-for-reward system.

were any of the ideas/systems mocked up in code?
i get that not everything needs to be mocked up (crafting playing against a ui) ... but systems like combat which are nuanced and subtle don't map goodnapkindesign => goodgameplay.
fleshing that idea out in ... unity or even flash at least ... is fundamental to see there is any framework with which to work on.
given that combat is the focus, to not have this is odd. asking for public moneys to work on napkinideas is different than asking to develop for something that you yourself has tested and think it workable framework to develop on.

though, that didn't stop the camelot kickstarter.
even if brad & co. had this, ks still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Man, I hate saying it as I'm a info sponge - I always want to know as much as possible about something I'm interested in and waiting on. But it's seeming obvious that VR needs to be more calculated and refine their design plans more before spilling the beans.

Every time some new info is released, it brings more questions then answers, and often seems to indicate exactly what us classic style MMO fansdon'twant, while being said to be otherwise. It's just making my head spin!

I'm am definitely not a fan of a multi-specing class design either. A Cleric should heal and buff. That's it. Well, undead bane damage is fine I guess. But I don't ever want to see in Pantheon something like "DPS Cleric LFG, PST". Sure they can have damage spells, and an ability to melee to some degree, but what worries me is that you might ever see people going with a "spec" that isn't the focus of the class like that. This design waters down the whole game and makes classes the roles are designed for more bland. Like a Cleric should never approach anywhere near the DPS of a Rogue or Wizard. I still want to vomit thinking about how bad such design was/is in WoW.

The Paragon level cracks me up
Be ready and able to help us with any type of game testing and be willing to spend time submitting detailed bug reports.
Haha pay money to be a tester...Sound on par for recreating the feeling of EQ1 though right?

I do software testing on the side and get paid $100 an hour and $18-$40 for every bug I find raising it to $150 an hour on average...

Didn't UT say he was an ex-NFL player in the old 38 Studios thread?
He has indeed said that; I have read later elaborations of it in the context of being on the Vikings' practice squad.

I am perfectly willing to believe that. I played college football and knew a lots of guys at that level Ut makes a lot of good points and as long he keeps focused on the game and centered, is a great poster. although I wish he wouldn't delve into the personal business, particularly like that with El. I have seen him enjoy and post positively about a game: TSW; he was roughing it up in the same way he does lots of games but then when he got to play it, he changed his mind and publicly apologized in the same thread, IIRC.
