They need to show more 'concreteness' and far less "we'd like to do this" or "we're thinking about that". Basically present 1 complete dungeon, populated end to end with NPCs, some static and others roaming and full lighting effects. Scrap the 'releasing races 1 day at a time' and present them all together with complete write ups about any racial properties/bonuses/traits they might have. This needs to include artwork of the various races. Revamp the class descriptions being more assertive as to "this is how they will be".Serious question Dumar as I know you are all in and think this is our only shot at a game like this(I'm a reasonable backer at 375 but not quite to its our only hope ever but definitely lean that way).
Right now at this point what do you think they need to do that is within their power to get this funded ?
And other folks too who think they have a chance.
Yep. Turns out is was spronk who made that 250 to 300k prediction. Now you are just making shit up.
I'm definitely with you overall especially on the last point. For what its worth.
Things that needed to be done before kick-starter but will have to done ASAP.
-Concept art and lots of it.
-Details list of races and classes and combinations.
-Detailed design doc on death penalty, travel and combat (This is very important to your target audience.)
-One designed zoned/dungeon without placeholder art and a video of an encounter. (this can be scripted)
-A trailer. (something like the EQ anniversary videos of people talking about their old EQ/MMO experiences)
-And a fully running PR team. (kick-starter is PR not game dev sadly)
-A already organised community/website to help and advise the kickstart prior to launch.
The other option was to go in for a much lower amount with the theme of this is to fund the above ready for another kick-starter push later in the year. I get the feeling they would have hit about the same amount with just this. From the info and interview it sounds like they are still very much in the idea phase of the project and that is quite off putting to pledgers I think.(with history and all)
What's the difference between releasing a buggy, half-finished, piece of shit game like every MMOG released as opposed to pocketing the cash for coke lines & hookers?Yeah, but you see, you're assuming that Brad isn't a con artist.
You say that but that's pretty much what's happening already. This $800k kickstarter is for funding the setup and foundation of this game. There will be another kickstarter or two before the project is completed or they will have to seek out investors. Obviously seeking out investors is much easier with having the setup and foundation of the game already in place with a proven market base. You can't do a double push kickstarter tho.
It has to be a product you must deliver.
You can't say, well guys you are investing in half our game, and if we get funding for the other half you will be able to play it.
If they want to get this funded they may have to do the very thing we bitch at him for doing which is "lying", they need to get some content it doesn't matter from where they need concept art, it doesn't matter if it's commissioned shit from deviant art or old drawing that were rejected from Vanguard, EQ, or old plagiarized D&D drawings they need something to show people when they land on the kickstarter page that inspires confidence that these are the guys who can make this happen.Serious question Dumar as I know you are all in and think this is our only shot at a game like this(I'm a reasonable backer at 375 but not quite to its our only hope ever but definitely lean that way).

Is the problem that there are still too few that have heard of it , or have enough heard of it but haven't been convinced to contribute ?
It seems like this would be simple, see if you can get some support via Twitch and do some sort of bullshit EQ gaming marathon to fund the Kickstarter...
Talk to some well no gaming youtube personalities here are just a few I could think of off the top of my head who would probably jump at the chance to sit down and talk with Brad about Pantheon, again if this was my Kickstarter I would be reaching out to anyone who might be able to assist me in getting more eyeballs on my Kickstarter. Then again if this was my Kickstarter it wouldn't be posted without having a plan in the first place.

All of these are people who have a decent enough sized following and are gamers through and through, and enjoy MMO's. Honestly, I am sure others here could make suggestions of others who might be a good fit. Maybe Swifty or Athene.
She does quite a bit of game related work so it is possible, even so unless she couldn't talk about it via some sort of contract reason it would still be worth wild to reach out to her. If she couldn't promote him directly maybe he could join on of the table top game blogs for a day and get this kickstarter plugged. Marketing can be done in countless ways and sometimes very cheap which is why I am surprised he doesn't reach for this low hanging fruit.Isn't Felicia Day already tied up with Guild Wars 2? I'm pretty sure she voices a main character.
I would tell you to go DIAF but then I think about all of the good things fire has done for civilization and stop short, for fire's sake. Your occasional good post makes me think that you at least mean well, even if you can't sustain it.Oh really? What were my original estimates? Jesus you American Inventors love to bandwagon shit without even reading posts, I have said plenty of positive shit about the idea and offered suggestions for improvement, not everything I say is bashing this game in spite what some dipshit posters would have you believe.
Both Pathfinder Online and Camelot Unleashed got about 20+% of their totals in the last 72 hours. Needing the last 20% for Pantheon puts the overall funding level at $640k at that point, so it will need to be in that ballpark to come close to following that model. Right now they are just below that pace but the initial surge is still inflating their daily numbers; this funding is still very much in the cone of possibility, if not with a high level of confidence. They need something like a hit with Boogie to change the momentum.Ya, they announced going from iOS to PC/Mac a couple weeks prior to the end, and 4 days before put up a new pitch & did a media blitz
I think a better example is the barely fundedPathfinder Online, with $226K the last day, but that could have been due to them doing the refer a friend thing (and maybe just funneling their own money into it as a couple have mentioned here to get it funded).
The 10 devs and their wives all make an account and pledge a few thousand each knowing that they will get it back in 3-4 weeks when the kickstarter fund clears. It would be kind of shady and require a bit of effort to get done, I mean if really motivated Brad could make 20 accounts on his own and pledge $10k from each of them, if you are desperate and hungry enough to make it happen you can find a way. With current tiers and the 10k max thing , how would Brad actually toss in the last 100k or whatever if it was around 700k the last day ? Just curious on the mechanics of that.
You can customize your pledge to be anything and you select which one reward you want. With current tiers and the 10k max thing , how would Brad actually toss in the last 100k or whatever if it was around 700k the last day ? Just curious on the mechanics of that.
Just shut the fuck up already, I can't even begin to keep up with your insane mood swings. Are you pregnant or something?Oh really? What were my original estimates?
