Potty training my daughter was much more work. In the end it was fat bribes that got her on the toilet.

My son puts his feet on the toilet seat and squats to pee. It's pretty hilarious to see. Whatever gets the job done!

Bribes worked for my youngest, my oldest just decided she wanted to and did it. At the time we just thought that was what happened probably for most kids. Boy were we wrong.

Absolutely. Although sometimes it feels the other way around. I'm on the heavy dose of shrooms and the little guy is like Dad? WTF are you doing?!

We're having an issue with my youngest. He has always been a good sleeper, and bounced out of bed. Now, since school has started again, he's an absolutely grumpy jerk in the morning. Have to literally pick him up and get him out of bed, and then he screams and hollers at whoever has the pleasure of getting him up. No idea what precipitated the change, nor what to do about it.

Anyone else have this issue? I thought it wouldn't be hard to get him out of bed until he's a teenager, and he's only 7.

Maybe something is going on at school.

I had severe anxiety issues around school at that age and would do literally anything to get out of going to school.

Ya, I dunno, maybe he is deciding he is a night person? According to my parents I was a great sleeper but always was a pain in the ass to get out of bed in the AM even from a young age. That hasn't changed to this day no matter what internet advice I try to follow to reset my sleep patterns.

I thought about that, and it's a good thought. I was in his classroom today, and he's really popular. I was able to watch him at recess without him knowing, too. Again, he's popular, kids are following him and playing with him. Warrants more investigation, though. Thanks. Thoughtful point.

Or spritz him with a water bottle until he learns to stop throwing a fit every morning.
We prefer the belt.

He has never been a night person, nor has he ever had issues getting up. Something shifted.

Yeah I mean maybe it's not, just something to watch. When I was in 2nd grade I faked sick everyday, stayed in bed, came up with excuses not to go anywhere. I had some weird anxiety about not finishing my school work as fast as the other kids for whatever weird reason. I can't explain.

I swear this kid is going Benjamin Button on us. He continued his sleep regression last night. This time he was up every 2 hours. Bed at 7. Up at 9:30 then 12 then 2 then 4. Mom took him at 4 and I slept until 6 when she left. This shit is rough as hell.

Damn not looking forward to that. Last night I got him to sleep at the earliest yet, 9:00PM, and he was still asleep when I left at 7:00AM. Is my child broken?

Shit I was my homie was broken like that. lol

He WAS sleeping great. He started sleeping from 6:30/7p - 2a-4a in one shot. Then in the last week or so he's slowly woken up earlier and earlier and more frequently. Hoping this phase ends sooner than later 'cause I starting feel like a zombie.

My wife told me he didn't wake up until 8am, so he slept 11 hours. He's also growing like crazy and I'm pretty sure he's teething. We haven't had a tooth pop out yet but he's been biting my fingers hard

My daughter, for the first year and a half, once she started sleeping most of the night, would sleep until 9 or later.

Do you put him back in his crib after he wakes up. We made the mistake of letting our 1st sleep in bed with us for an hour or two after he woke up early in the morning sure enough he started to wake up earlier and earlier so that stopped and we moved his crib to his room.

Oh yeah he goes back into his own crib in his own room. He does not sleep with us at all.

Tonight we started him with some avocado. He seemed to like it pretty good. Even let him try to feed himself and he got it on the first try.
