I'm planning a business trip down there sometime in the next month or so if you wanna grab a beer.
Sure if you're in the NOVA area, let's get together. There are a few people on the board in this area, I think.

So tomorrow is her first day back at school. The new system is working ok for my wife, it doesn't work for me, idk. She did fine in her ballet class, better than expected actually. We will see, we will see. I am really hoping to have her IEP at the end of this week.

Maybe this is a stupid question. Keep in mind my son is 5 months, so this wasn't a big issue but something I can see being a problem in the future.

We were at the mall and there were these teenagers in a store and kept going "fuck this, fuck that, fucking pussy, fucking asshole" nonstop. Surely the onus is on the store to take care of that, but obviously my kid would hear that shit and pick up on it when he's older. What do you guys do in that situation? I know I can just go up to them and tell them to stop, but we all know how that will play out. Do you guys just leave? Do you follow them to their car, abduct them, and bury them in a shallow grave in the woods of a state park 30 miles away where no one knows you ever travel to?

I ask them nicely to watch their language with children around, if they give me guff I go let an employee know. -shrug- Usually most the time people will actually say sorry and move on as long as you're cool about it.

I usually say something like "hey guys, there are kids around watch the language" and see where it goes. 100% of the 3 times I had to do this the kids looked embarrassed and walked away.

That's been almost all of my experiences as well. Another one was some kid thought he would act tuff and I clotheslined him down some stairs.

Seriously though the few times where it was challenged, the guys friend was embarrassed and pushed his buddy to move on and one other time I looked at an employee who was near and they asked the kids to tone it down or they would be asked to leave.

Teenagers these days know that adults can't do anything to them though, so a lot of them act like shit heads way out of proportion with whatever you said. And they'll do it just to provoke you knowing you can't do anything.

Honestly, with t.v., the internet, friends, etc. You need to not make a big deal out of it, and communicate to your kid that your family are not plebs.

Make a big deal out of it, the kid will instinctively do it for effect or with his friends to be cool.

Indoctrinate them early and get ahead of it. Or fight all forms of media until you stroke out.

I plan on not curbing my kids speech at all with me, but he will know that is with dad only. But then again, that's a common thing in my family, there are things that never get communicated outside of family. /shrug

And my daughter is out of school again. My wife is taking her to the ER to have an "emergency evaluation". The school says she needs some kind of help right now, the psychologist says yes look she has ADHD and ODD and probably a couple of other things, but the stuff that happened today was way beyond that, like borderline psychotic, and agrees with the school that she needs to go to the ER now. They said prepare to have her be admitted for in patentient observation, which destroyed my wife and I don't know if I can deal with either. She was in school for 3 hours, at least an hour of which was spent having an uncontrollable fit. When my wife arrived to pick her up, they had her separated in a room with things up so she couldn't throw stuff at the staff, was completely naked, covered in piss, and had been sticking kleenex in her ass/vaginal area. So my wife is doing great.

I just don't understand it. She's 5. I really just don't, and at this point I don't know what the psychologist could say to make me just say "oh yeah, that makes sense."

Damn dude. In-patient observation is probably a good idea, though it'll hurt you and your wife like crazy. The next step might be an in class observation by a behaviour specialist, I'm certain the school would allow that.

But, take heart. Something is triggering her, you just haven't found what YET. You will. And don't be like me and be squeamish about putting your young child on daily medication. I regret not doing it sooner once I saw the results. Listen to your doctors, and pretend to be patient with your daughter even if you don't feel it. This will get better.

Yeah man at this point I am more like "PLEASE give her medication!" I feel bad, but jesus, its like any time she isn't with us she goes insane. And her behavior with us has gotten much worse, we're still able to get through to her but it is harder than even a couple of weeks ago. I'm fairly certain she's getting removed from school now, they are getting the school superintendent involved to help make a decision about what to do next. She jsut can't function and it's so random. I would put the report up here but I don't want that on the internet. It said some crazy shit. They said she was flinging urine at staff and masturbating. It's literally like we're talking about a crazy person here. But when I race home from work and come in, she's sitting down happy, runs up to give me a hug, like a comepltely different person.

What does she say when you ask her about it?

Right now you're literally describing scenes from a movies I saw awhile back where the little girl was possessed. Clearly I don't think that's going on, but it's weird none the less.

She just says random shit. "Why did you do this?" "Because I missed you" or "I miss papa" (my dad)

"what happened?" "I was bad"

stuff like that. Almost never anything you can point to and say "this is why!". I could count on one hand the numbers of times we've gotten a real answer out of her.
