Yeah but you didn't calculate the cost of water and electricity and time!
pfft. Time is negligible because of washing machines. We're on a well, so there's some electricity involved there, but we don't pay for water, and we wash in cold water, so the only gas was the time in the dryer, except we hung dry the diapers, so very little cost. So, for something like $350 we were good to go. A dozen pampers costs 25$, so you could get 168 diapers for the same cost. Going through 6 diapers a day, that will last you roughly a month.

You're going to save money with cloth diapers if you're willing to do the work.

Really it's like a couple hundred dollars over 2 years for one child. You start saving quite a bit more if you reuse for the next child though

And yeah if you are on a well then it's even more savings. Like 90% of people aren't though (that number is directly from my ass)

Any improvement on the sleeping Noodle?
He's back to sleeping 12 hours a night so all is good. He has like 6 or 8 teeth now, a whole bunch came in at the same time. The sleeping badly seems to come with teething so just mezzing before the next pull right now.

Keep in mind cloth diapered babies, on average, potty train faster than those in disposables. Not only does that cut expenses but also means less overall diaper changes, which is really the big selling point to me.

Also I think those energy usage figures are based on using a diaper services which requires like 7 super hot water washes due to regulations. There is no way the energy usage at you average household comes close to the expense of disposables.

Does that include the cost of filling your washing machine up with solid human waste and having to replace clothes more often? I don't know what they did before indoor plumbing but there must have been shiteverywhere.

Heh, keep the cloth diapers. All you. I'll gladly spend the $50 a month and not have shit in my washing machine. I realize that isn't possible for everyone and truly respect those that have the will to go through with that or the wife willing to do it. Personally, the time spent scrubbing shit from cloth and washing it out only to repeat this several times a day isn't worth the small investment. That is a lot of work.

I guess if your kid shits once a week it's not so bad but mine shits like a buffalo that takes fiber supplements.

12 hours sounds like heaven. Once a week maybe he'll sleep through the night. Usually he gives us 5-6 hours and wakes up. Quick diaper change and a bottle and he usually goes right back to sleep. Some nights he's a nightmare and takes 60-90 minutes to get back to sleep. I just wanna skip forward to where he sleeps all damn night. Fuck this cherish them while they're small garbage. Yeah he's super cute but I can't wait till we can play some sports together and I can sleep all goddamn night. lol

And we've listened to so much Raffi that I know all the songs...and I don't hate them. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. That scene from Mr. Mom where he explains how he's regressing into a kid and enjoying all the kid stuff more than adult stuff is a goddamn true story. haha

Yeah, there are disposable liners that you buy for the cloth diapers, looks like a dryer sheet. The liner contains all the poop, you throw that in the diaper pale and the poop-free cloth diaper goes in the wash. No solid waste or any fecal matter in your washing machine.

Breast milk poops are a different story but generally you still rinse those long before they end up in the wash. I'll admit that cleaning those does suck, but not as much as I thought it would. But do you know what really sucks, changing diapers in general. If cloth diapers make it so I can potty train sooner/faster 100% worth the hassle of dealing with breast milk poops.

We almost went cloth for diapers, but ended up buying a box of newborn disposables before the birth "just for at first when it's nuts" and never went back. I'm happy with the disposables, there's just so much to do and so little free time with an infant/toddler in the picture that I really wouldn't want to voluntarily add to our plate, the savings aren't worth it for me. On top of that, on a ranked list of objectionable stuff that comes with being a parent "diaper changes" wouldn't even make the top 10 for me, and I do them all the time.

Mine has about 8 teeth at 9 months but he's still bald as a turd. He's blonde so it makes him look extra bald

Both my kids are blond. Both have fine hair like my wife. My son looked bald for a while. Looks like an man now with whispy hair on the side of his head.

Your turds are bald? I might need to see my doctor.

I was bald until after 2, and entirely white-blonde. My parents called me "cue ball" for years. I recommend against that.
