wtf is frozen? like is it some original new disney princess movie?
See with a boy, you will not know the joys of hearing the same fucking song, the SAME FUCKING SONG, over and over and over, a hundred fucking times a day, every time a new princess movie comes out. I literally know every word to every song n My Little Ponies, Frozen, Tangled, Brave, etc. I mean, I guess it is good. They listen to music and dance around, they could be vegging in front of a tv so I should be happy. I am happy, I guess. But holy fuck if I have to hear Let It Go one more time imma go postal.

We have not, we fight with him several times a day to try to get him to nap, we usually struggle with crying, screaming, rocking him, holding him, etc for longer than he even ends up sleeping for. Sometimes getting a 30 minute nap out of him is an hour-long ordeal to get there.

I've never even considered completely skipping naps. He definitely gets tired and cranky, I can't imagine him making it an entire day without napping, but maybe we should just let him go until he completely falls asleep on his own rather than trying to force naps.
I would talk to your pediatrician, of course, but this is pretty much what we did. At about 9 months or so our daughter stopped taking naps entirely, we tried to force it, and we had big dramatic productions like you are going through now. It was a pain in the ass not having her nap because you don't get that opportunity to get things done or whatever, but yeah, she turns 5 in March and hasn't napped since shortly after she started walking.

JAMA published study today -

Women who eat nuts (almonds, peanuts, cashews etc) a few times a week while pregnant are 31% less likely to give birth to a child with food allergies than women who consume nuts (perverts) once a month.

Again, as I've said - the BEST way to create an allergy is to put your kid in a bubble. Babies born to households with 2 plus pets are 80% less likely to have ANY environmental allergy.

But whatever. Its your kid. You parent however you want to.

In other news - baby's first protein? Escargots

. Technically an escargot mousse. Been giving him swipes of sauces and things that aren't choking hazards. The whole introducing one food at a time thing went pretty much out the window.

Levi sleeps the night now. Occasionally he will wake at 2am instead of 5am. But 2 is still better than 9pm and 12pm and 2pm.

He still gets super cranky around 7:30pm though

Yeah we are in Chicago - we have TOTALLY up ended this kids routine. And we are now sleeping in the same room as him while we are at my moms....at least until my grandmother goes home.

Lord I am glad we went straight to the crib when he was little - everyone sleeps better. He's still doing well, all things considered though today he got up at around 330 est which he does on super rare occasion. We were like newp. Change re-swaddle feed boom you are going back to bed kiddo.

7 month old is driving us absolutely nuts

Still waking up every 2 hours all night long. it's about 50/50 odds that we can get him back to sleep without having to feed him. This sucks. Got him down to bed at 7:30 tonight and he already woke up crying once. Last night he woke up at 9, 11:30, 1, 3:30, then 6am was up for the day. He's becoming REALLY difficult to get him to nap for more than 20-30 minutes at a time during the day too.
What kind of white noise are you using?

8hrs. Vacuum ASMR Snowstorm Fireplace - Vacuum sound Snowstorm, log cabin fireplace - YouTube

Is our 'go the fuck to sleep' white noise.

I am sure we will join you in about a month or so when we (sob) swaddle wean. Technically we should do it now. He rolls both directions, stands pretty good for short periods.....(forget sitting, he's still like eff that noise)....but fuck he sleeps so much better swaddled.

Yeah we have a white noise machine, he's always done really well with the falling rain noise that it makes(has like 10 different noises)

Might try swaddling again(arms out), we havent used it since about 4 months(hes now 7 months) and he slept like a champ for a long time, but I need to try something different now, this shit is ridiculous.

My daughter has listened to the same lullaby cd since she was an infant. She's 6 now and we still put it on for her. It's more routine than anything else.

Kiddo finally slept through the night again for the first time in over 2 weeks. We were so thrilled and rested that the wife was even up for some morning nookie. Today is a good day.

Anyone have their toddler hit their head on the floor when they're frustrated? Ugh, this phase needs to pass soon. Everything I've read is that it's fairly self-regulating, it hurts so they only do it so much and don't do serious damage as a result (a bruise or two on his forehead). It's just insane to me, I'd never heard of or seen this before my 2.5 year old started doing it.

My youngest would slap himself in the legs giving himself bruises. It was a phase that lasted about 3 or 4 months and went away on it's own.

Yeah my 18 month old does that occasionally. They get crazy frustrated and don't know how to communicate their thoughts and frustrations with us so they act out and some do shit like this. Not a big deal unless it is severe, I would imagine.

Spitting is my middle girl's new thing. When she gets all worked up she just starts spitting. It really makes me want to punch her in the face. Sometimes it is hard to remember how the world must seem to them.

Yeah, it's taken a little bit (a lot) for me to stop losing my shit when he does it and throw him in the pack and play (which then probably just reinforces it, and then he crawls out of it and does it on the floor there - but I didn't care as much because at least it's a rug and not hard tile).

Just kinda let him do it now and don't acknowledge the behavior. He's very quick to go to it when he's told no about something, like asking for food he's had too much of (fruit/yogurt pouches) or can't have for breakfast (chips).

So my wife and some of her friends are members of a mother's group on FB. Just a place to exchange stories, vent, etc. One of them apparently said the wrong thing, according to one putz, and said putz called CPS on her. So CPS and a local officer made a stop by her home. It also may affect her profession (a teacher), while she's looking for another gig no less. All over a stupid comment that even the cop who came with a printout of the FB exchange said was really stupid to have been reported upon. I hate people sometimes. It's shit like this that makes me quite reluctant to share some of the more funny stories and experiences I'd had with my son so far.

The sanctimommy bullshit these days is insane with social media.

And everything you do/say is wrong.

Worried about something? You're a fucktard because you are overreacting OR someone else had it worse than you. (This 'pain olympics' stuff happens here too).

Made a decision? Here's 45 thousand reasons it was the wrong one. (IE giving your kid ibuprofen. Or tylenol. Or formula. Or rice cereal).

Picked a parenting style? You're just an overall bad parent. (Did you let your kid cry for 4 mins? Did you breastfeed until age 2?)

I wish it was relegated to just women because at least that would make sense but I've seen this behavior on this thread multiple times too - and not from myself or lindsey who are the two chicks (to my knowledge).

The ONLY thing I care about is that you vax your kid. Because that's not a parenting decision. That's a public health issue. Everything else as long as you are feeding and not abusing your kid, have at it.

Yeah my wife argues with people on facebook about parenting shit constantly. Most recently she was arguing with someone who was trying to compare feeding your kid formula with child abuse. She also claims that raw milk is the healthiest thing EVAR, that vaccines are making our kids sick, that hospital births are unnecessary and dangerous, etc. I try and tell my wife, "you're not going to convince this crazy fucking person" but meh, the internet is for winning I guess.

'Puts' is a loaded word. I think it's great when people take what they perceive as inappropriate behavior seriously, and report it. Calling CPS here would have no real impact on your job situation unless they find something alarming. Those who work in positions of trust know they're subject to background checks, and by law more severe penalties. I don't think anyone inconvenienced by this should complain, however one wishes to spin it - it's part of the job description.
