Is Steam linked to the Path of Exile website? If I purchase the preorder for PoE2 on Steam, will it recognize my account for PoE1 for the bank slots?
Yea I would need a finished hide out. No way Im populating that myself. Will check that site and see how it looks.I looked on the PoE hideout website to see if they had a dreadnaught hideout to download. It looks so big it would tke me forever to do anything with it other than however the default one is. Site had oner already.
Yeah the comment a year ago said chat is cross game, but everything else still transfers over from a purchasing standpoint, ie. if you bought a bunch of shit for the guild, like stash tabs, they will transfer over. Not the items in them, as you pointed out, but all the other stuff. If guilds were cross game I'd imagine it would be chat only. Guild stash will certainly not be cross game for obvious reasons.
Honestly, them making MTX cross over is a huge deal for me respecting them as a company. They could have EASILY pretended that you had to start from scratch for that stuff, but now everyone will jump over with very little issue because all their shit is still there. Why not? Unless you hate the mechanics of the game and go back to PoE1, there's no other reason really to not jump to 2.
Unless you're one of those people trying to playI saw in a video interview Jonathan saying that they know already by the early access packs sales that they are going to break their record for most concurrent players in the early access which is pretty awesome.
People are going to be more likely to drop money on it when they know that anything they buy will theoretically be good as long as the company exists. If there's a PoE 3 in a decade, you'd have a good feeling that anything you bought will transfer over.I think that's a smart move on their part, great PR and player goodwill if nothing else. The thing is there are worthwhile purely business to do it also, while they are obviously going after a new audience with PoE2, they still need their PoE1 playerbase to try it out.
There's 2 things that often plague live service sequels from being more successful than the previous game.
One is character progression, people invest tons of time in a character and don't want to lose it by moving to the sequel. This isn't an issue for PoE, the game has hard resets built in, every 3 months or so there's a new league which resets the economy, character progression etc. So naturally nothing really stops a PoE1 player to move to PoE2 since character progress is resets anyways.
Second is mtx, you spend hundreds or thousands of dollars and don't want to lose your "investment". By making all the mtx being shared between PoE1 and PoE2, there's nothing left that will prevent players from trying PoE2, even you buy stuff for PoE2 like the starter packs and end up not liking the game, you get the mtx in PoE1 so you lose nothing.
They pretty much guaranteed with that move that most if not all of PoE1 players will try PoE2. It's a brilliant business move, that at the same make them totally awesome to the playerbase.
Yes in short terms they leave tons of money on the table as people would buy back stash, and at least a few cosmetics to look cool. In the long term it will pay off.

Should I drop $30 on the Early Access for this? I am not a fan of paying for early access but I might make an exception with how gushed over this game is.
I have like ~500 hours in POE1 and I spent $20 on it total. I happily threw down $100 this time.Should I drop $30 on the Early Access for this? I am not a fan of paying for early access but I might make an exception with how gushed over this game is.

You can always wait it out to see, they will likely give keys later on if they want more people testing(granted with how much more successful the game is now than it was during PoE1 beta, they might not do that too much) and you can also just wait until there's some feedback on the state of the early access and stuff.Should I drop $30 on the Early Access for this? We can call the card "The Hoof".Think we talked about this in the past, is there any interest in pooling some funds so we can create an foh funded unique with some meme description? Would be cool to design one of the early poe 2 uniques. We can use one of Mr Sox quotes for the description, just some random rant about mcquaid
