I think there does need to be some hurdles. like, I think needing to id gear is good. forces you to make discissions on the fly. and gives that big payoff when back home. already id'd items creates just mindless farming with no breaks, as you ignore everything thats not right from the get go.

Last epoch also goes too far in making deterministic crafting too easy. everyone completed their builds/gear and moved on. and doesnt have the crazy build combinations to continue play there either.

That said of course, poe2 is too far in the other direction. poe 1. collect good base. essance/enchant/alt to reroll solid base. chaos/slams. scour as needed. you could build as needed.
the crafting bench to enchant items of course godsend. really missing here. I guess runes are supposed to do that here. but.. we can't remove them.

Yea but alt spamming 5000 orbs to hit celebration+conquerors on your weapon or whatever was fucking dog ass. I cannot believe people are pining for something that bad to return.

The current system definitely needs work, but miss me with the poe1 style orb spam to 'craft'. The current implementation of exalt drops and the way chaos orbs work is a way better framework to start with. Expand it out to prefix/suffix reroll currency that is appropriately rare, add some of the rog options with a mix of item durability ala Last Epoch, and call it good.

I actually don't want 'crafting' to exist at the level where people are just using white bases to create perfect items. That shit has always been antithetical to the idea of a loot based game like an ARPG, and it's existence is a big reason why the random drops can't/won't be tuned to be more attractive for the masses.

Keep the crafting simple and in the vein of altering a 'pretty good' item that dropped a bit to make it REALLY good, or maybe worse, and work on the drop system so that picking up items off the floor is incentivized and fun. They already kind of do this with the tier 2/3 rares that drop and their affix floors, just needs to be expanded out a bit.

Yeah I think once I break into the end of the mapping tiers, I'll roll a monk to try out a 2nd class and then take a break for a bit.

For anyone super juicing T15s / T16s, is the average drop noticably improved in both quality and quantity? I do have some rarity on my items and still don't get currency drops very often currently.
So this is a quite juiced T16 Vaaled map. Full clear and did all league mechanics.

All yellows are vendor fodder, 3 uniques I think are all crap. Maybe the best drop was a lvl 19 gem?

Not sure if this is good/bad/cursed.

All I know this is 99% of my maps.

Alt spam can easily be solved by not allowing you to craft on a highlighted filter item in your stash. So put in a regex for what you're looking for and spam.

There's so many things they can expand on and they all come from QoL. I think it was cute dog or Jungrogan or one of those autistic Asians that had a great idea for crafting maps in the map tab where it was basically like a mass crafter with all the map currency in there that batched crafts and had some other unique ideas in currently forgetting. He even had the art for the stash tab conceptualized.

QoL isn't just about ease of use, it's about evolving your game so you can branch out in more directions and not be knee capped by old tech and retarded decisions.

The coolest feature I’ve come across so far…

I died at the same time I killed the last werewolf boss in Act 1. So, it took me back to the checkpoint and removed his body/loot from the room.

Hope I didn’t miss anything important!

And to the point about the bases thing. I would make it so you can't "fix" a craft. Get rid of scours completely.

The longer I sit at end game - the more I feel like we're just missing shit. Some stuff is overly complicated with no relief in sight. Meanwhile, some other stuff is completely trivial, basic and unintuitive. It could be hopium - but it just doesnt seem like everything that we use at end game got even remotely close to the same "table time" for ideas as the rest of the shit. Or basically, Im going to continue to play the game when I have time regardless - but I expect some QOL changes coming down the pipe at full release. Even D4 changed a ton of shit from Beta to release, much less that huge 17 gig patch we got on day one of full release after EA and that wasnt even a season, or more content like POE2 has planned.
I should really get through campaign before they completely nerf all minions into shit. I haven't run into settlers yet. I hope they are put in before game goes 100% live. Crafting system included.

I still think the main innovation that makes this better than all other major ARPGs is implementing twinstick style movement + aiming.

I mean I hated alt spamming too, i would have been happy if it vanished and replaced with something better, but they removed it and didn't add anything. I didnt expect like fossils or beasts or veiled or betrayal crafting this early ofcourse, but even like a bench where you could "gamble" with multimodding being removed is kinda a headscratcher. Also essences being turned into dogshit didnt help either.

Maybe a more literal transfer of mods then.

have a good base, have mods you want, on the wrong base. reforge moves mods from A to B. this is essentially what last epoch is doing with shards, but with way more control. Im suggesting all or nothing.

I hope they add targeted farming things like the Tabula in PoE1. It floors me that one of the best (inadvertent) parts of Diablo 2 is so poorly utilized in most AARPGs. Targeted farming of build defining uniques is a good thing.

If I were them, the approach I'd take is to gut the worst parts of the crafting system like they have, and then just let it shake out for a while. If there are legitimate complaints (there are), think of new ways to meet those complaints outside of just doing what PoE did. I wont be surprised if they suggest some weird new crafting things along this line, but with limits. Obviously you don't want to abandon chance completely in an ARPG.

It's early access. Game has great bones, and I trust GGG to iterate it in ways that make it better, I mean they already are.

I'd be shocked if that isn't already in the game and people just haven't ferreted it out yet?

Did Lab really change though or did it just get power crept so hard that it essentially becomes "irrelevant"? It seems to be like it's more the latter rather than the former.

Yes, they changed lab several times, one of the biggest changes for QoL you already pointed out in your initial post.

Thats kind of the theme with PoE2 though. Someone on the PoE2 team had a hardon for regressive gameplay and quite literally removed all the QoL lessons they learned from PoE1 from anything they were working on in PoE2.

Hence the Ruthless comparisons and legitimate observations about that mode being a test bed for PoE2. A failed test bed.

I guess my complaint is I'm 70 hours into the game, and I'm basically slave to the marketplace and, unfortunately, recently that means the currency manipulators.

So I can't craft anything, and now I can't really afford it either. And even on top of that, if I wanted to craft, I don't have enough of anything to do so. To make anything worth a shit I'd need 3 exalts per attempt, and it seems pretty unlikely I get what I want. And I get an exalt maybe once every 3-4 maps.

The whole system is shit. The only reason I'm still logging in is in hopes that if I get to higher tier maps, it'll start "fixing" itself, but I don't believe that's actually the case.

Seems like another game where the people who played 12 hours a day for the first week get their first mover advantage and everyone else struggles to tread water.

Wonder if the first boss drops something like Hillock.

Also, nice thing about d2 was targeted farms throughout the game, and not just end game. Something poe1 used to have with blood aqueduct farm but got rid of cause reasons.

I'm not sure I'll be able to go back to older AAPRGs strictly due to the index finger tendinitis. There are a few rough corners on the controller interface but it's overall really, really good.

There’s no way people are getting that lucky with some of the rares ive seen. My guess is people either id’ing a buncha magic stuff, or buying magic items off trade site and getting some luck with regals and maybe an ex slam

Yes, I ID whatever interesting bases I see drop, then slam a regal into ones with two top tier desirable mods, then slam 1-3 ex because ex are basically zimbabwe dollars at endgame.

Pretty sure that's how the game is supposed to work.

You're misunderstanding the scale of the game and it's trade market.

Yes 99.99% of rares are probably bad, but people are identifying a million of them a day, so of course there are winning lotto tickets buried in there.
