I liked earlier PoE a lot up until about when Elder/Shaper influence went away and the new Atlas. Give me that old feel and Lioneyes Watch Music all day.
Old Forest Encampment music was so good. Glory days of farming Vaal Souleater and the music really drive home that dark jungle ancient violent civilization feel.

Apparently I'm the only one that plays PoE with only the loot sound on. Of course I don't do much bossing and only turn it up for those.

I get a lot of the "ur a grumpy old gamer that only likes things from the late 90s" - until it's obvious I adored PoE at release for a long time and then was greatly turned off by what it became.

I'm giving PoE 2 a shot but machine gun crossbow game with roll spam and nades.... We will see...

Go play ruthless, it’s basically poe circa 2012.

I did and map drops were abysmal. Kirak or whatever his name was, nearly of no use trying to fill in gaps. Got nauseated doing repeat grey grind. Otherwise it was pretty good, shifted theme and feel aside.

Loot filter going off when something drops you should pick up.

Sound options about 3-4 below master volume. Item filter alerts.
Yeah I have my bg music lower too but definitely had to crank the volume up a bit for the ubers I did so far, need to react pretty fast most of the time and the audio cues help a ton.

PoE music is legit, I have the arena song on my playlist and blast it in my car. The choir to trumpet transition is *chefs kiss*

I loved PoE but eventually the feature creep got to me. If you didn't play religiously every season you simply fell behind what all the new mechanics/changes were. Hoping they slow down or address this in 2.

Old school poe map drops were abysmal, I remember managing to get to like a tier 6 map drop once and being super thrilled; it wasn’t long before I was back down to only tier 1/2 lol. I can’t remember what the highest tier was back then but I know temple map was one of them and i never got to it; remember being in awe of people that were able to get in there and get those juicy i81 white item bases or whatever they were lol. I vaguely recall if you got one of those maps you basically grabbed every item you could just from the ilvl being so rare and in demand

I remember kripp and his gang would FULL clear every map (back when it was slow) and break everything open every chest in order to increase map drop chances. Sustain wasn’t even a word in the POE lexicon at the time.

I forget what were the big drops during Oversoul/Piety/Dominus runs? Wasn't a chaos as rare as an exalt(divine)?

Six links were ridiculously rare. I’m still traumatized to this day by tuco ninja looting a six link staff before I even had a chance to blink, worst party member ever.
I think exalted was still a lot bigger deal than chaos. I used to chain farm brutus/mervail for uniques and rares , and I think I saw several chaos drop but never an exalt. My pc back then sucked so I couldn’t do ‘the ledge ‘ xp leeching from my friend with his fucking minions lagging me

I... don't even remember this. I remember playing with Pasteton and don't even recall how PoE looting works, much less any of the specific loot I got.

But generally I don't give a shit about loot, especially in a game like PoE that I know I'll quite just about the time I get to endgame and if I looted something someone wanted I would've given it up.

The good ole days of spending all your currency on a t5 map to try and roll large maze and whatever else just to pray to rngesus that you could get one more t5 to drop in it.

I still remember making the #2 es helm way back then, just barely below the mirror helm, when the softcare level leaders were 92ish. I sold it to the guy who was in 2nd or third place. Maybe that's when my addiction to exalt yolo crafting began... Also got a soul taker from piety runs when they were insta selling for 25-30ex and one of the guys in my group got butthurt because I wouldn't sell it to him for 10ish.

The good old days when we would exalt maps.
