I thought I had figured out some secret tech, nobody was talking about the life flask node on pathfinder. A way for life builds to get some reliable sustain. With an AHK macro, but it's best not to dwell on such minutiae. I spec into it and hit my life flask and...nothing happens. Maybe it's a bad UI, since the flask portion gives no visual indication that you have an active flask. Nope, you cannot activate a flask while at full life.

I thought I was crazy, logged back into my level 100 pathfinder in PoE1, sure enough, I could activate a flask at full life. What a spiteful change. What's even the point of those "while flask is active" nodes on the passive tree?

I was looking at some skills when I saw I could buy a +7 to physical spells staff for nothing. I'm already on minions so I was thinking Unearth. That led me to the realization that "minions deal increased damage" is not the same as "increased minion damage." No scaling both like you could with a minion damage node and a skill like Absolution in PoE1.

I know it's early access, but it's shameful that the playstyle of "fight with my minions" is not currently supported. Perhaps it's coming, but they've got a much bigger problem to solve in minion "AI" bodyblocking themselves and then committing sudoku as you walk 5 feet away. So many things already fixed, resolved, implemented, or supported in PoE1. Was implementing WASD in PoE1 insurmountable compared to how much wheel reinventing has ensued?

PoE2 feels like some classic scope creep.

Lighty's review of PoE2 has been closer to how I feel. I think he's a bit acerbic, but he doesn't seem to chase clicks, so it feels genuine at least.

Each minion death resetting the respawn timer back to full doesn't get as much press but it's shit. Depending on your strength relative to the content it doesn't come up a lot but when it does it's such a pain in the dick. That map you're in look mighty dangerous. How about you wait 30+ seconds for your army to reform?

There's a reasonable workaround for this, which comes with it's own upside. Make a second weapon set, assign the minions and minion skills to only set 1, and assign blink to set 2.

That way you switch to blink, blink about, then when mobs show up, using a minion skill (e.g. firewall ) switches you back to weapon set 1, which instantly respawns all minions on top of you, with no cooldown timer. It also lets you do stuff like having the second set dedicated to improving curses and the first set dedicated to minions.

This is definitely a workaround though, having them die when you outrun them *with no movement speed boost* is 10 kinds of hopelessly retarded, almost as bad as having them logjam in doorways. Really if they are this bad at AI pathfinding they should just warp minions to the player instead of despawning them - I mean that is obvious to pretty much anyone who has ever played any RPG with pets at any time in the last 30 years. Hell, is there any reason for minions to have *any* friendly collision other than cosmetic ?

Which minions did you use for 4th Ascendancy? I fought the final boss on both Seckhema and Chaos and couldnt get either one to drop before a sneaky one shot got me. Feels like my DPS is too low and using a Ghostwrithe I cant get my spirit much higher. Using Arsonists.
Raging Spirits and Arsonists. Think I have 9 Arsonists and 1 Storm Mage with 2 Clerics.

Did not have any issues with the fight but almost failed the pickup ball mechanics.

Yeah I am hoping some more changes in addition, but just keeping the extra activities / juice would be a good start. Shit feels beyond bad especially when you don't even know what killed you 90% of the time.

Sitting on the couch playing (I'm on PS5) with my wife working semi next to me (long couch). "Hey babe let me know when you get a sec." "NP hun just let me kill the map boss real fast". Kill boss, see I'm not standing in poop, and no mobs anywhere, look over to her "What's up?" and get the sound of dying from the TV. What killed me? Who knows. No mobs on screen.

Starting to feel pretty much done for now. Got to 93 on Infernalist and the Monk is 90.

On death effects make Monk shitty to play at red maps and the Infernalist is just boring gameplay at this point even if it's a strong build.

Might make another character but I think I will just play way less and wait for some beefy patches with added content and balance changes.

Been having a damn good time though, just time for a break!

The way you have to juice up maps to get 1 shot and lose it does feel like complete dogshit. I feel like this is something that will likely get changes because all of the feedback everywhere is fuck you GGG for being total cocksucking pillow biters here.
Yea, if you wouldnt have restarted on a new character - Im pretty sure you would have tapered off on playing this game when I did. Getting to 15/16 was my last real "hoorah" for this season. End game is absolute, as you call it, dog shit. Dying making you lose a significant amount of exp so you stop progressing your character that way, then losing access to the map so you cant fucking get any item progression, then making you do the same map with just as much liability to die to the same (likely) bullshit one shot mechanic in the first place - setting you back further exp wise, and also losing not only your initial waystone, but the next waystone... and all this outside of the fact that you've wasted all your fucking time doing this.

I mean really, who the fuck decided all of that was necessary? Much less a good idea? to implement that way. If that shit holds true for next season, Im not even going to remotely try hard that shit. They got me as a customer on this release, but they've gotta come correct if they ever want me to pay for barbie doll dress up bullshit.

I see some people defending it but in my mind it's overly punishing.

XP Penalty
Bricked Key
Bricked Map
Bricked Boss
One attempt with sometimes hours of setup

The more you think about it the more I don't understand why anyone defends it. The XP Penalty alone seems like a punishment enough, the extra loss on top doesn't add any benefit to the game it's simply a frustration point where many people have admitted they get their hand slapped and simply log out of the game. That is the opposite of fun, it's not what you want your players to do. I have yet to have anyone explain how the game is improved from it.

For me POE1 is all about the journey, and quitting when it becomes grindfest. POE2 is going to be the same. With dark souls. And hookers.

When does this xp penalty kick in? I'm only on tier 11 maps at level 80 and feel like I could probably be handling 13/14 with a bit a care, but I don't know if I've lost experience on death yet. Havne't noticed at least.

I feel like is really becomes noticeable in the 70's if you die, but XP also slows down the higher you go late 80's and 90's you really feel it. If you are level 80 though you certainly should be doing higher maps. I guess it depends on the class but I feel like most can handle 15s in the 70s if in the proper build, gear.
