Na, I wasn't paying attention. I was trying to carefully manage my mana so I didn't fuck up and run out like I did on Xesht 3, and fucked myself from not looking at the wrong second.

Would be amusing if that item double broke the game by providing a reliable way of crashing instances. Exploiting crash behavior for purposes of dupes or resets is a gaming classic.
So, after getting a bit bored of infernalist, I tried out to level 10 of the rest of the starter classes, just to see what it was like.
The difference between melee and ranged is just absolutely bonkers. Especially monk, only character I died to the first mini boss ( the one in the mud pits ) because dps was so dogshit that I ran out of flask charges after 5+ minutes. I guess you just have to hope to get lucky on a decent staff ?
Warrior isn't great either, being stuck in place doing sloooooow animations that can be cancelled by things hitting you is stupid. I laughed at Krip levelling one with skeletal arsonists - the best levelling build is apparently budget infernalist.
My conclusion is that I am too old and bad at games to play melee classes in this game.

I've found some secret tech and want to try out the dual herald setup.
So the existing idea is that Heralds don't apply the ailment they trigger on and therefore can't chain activate, so you put freeze gems on Thunder and shock gems on Ice so they trigger each other and chain.
Every streamer is doing this.
Well my idea is that Stormweaver Sorceress can apply shock and chill on all damage, add in the shatter on chill ring and the chain reaction will trigger without you needing to Freeze - so you just build around Shock which is guarenteed if you use lightning arrows and skill points.
This is good... right?

I have a level 85 crossbow stormweaver doing this with explosive shot and yes it does work.... for shocks. Shaper of Winter does not do anything to freeze/freeze buildup. Its specifically chill so you need the pocilkern ring which is the same as just getting some cold damage on gear. Adding cold damage to lightning arrow and doing dual herald is what Fubgun has been doing since basically day 1. There is no reason to go stormweaver for shocks with Lightning Arrow... in fact Shaper of Storms lessens the duration of shock. Lightning Arrow is going to shock on its own with enough damage anyway.
You use the shaper skills to apply chill/shock on non lightning/cold skills so you can make use of any additional effect.

heralds are attack only. don't work with spells.
cast on crit, cast on freeze, cast on shock are the caster chain options.
a few others. hexbloom, ele invocation, etc.
archmage also means 50-300% of all your spell damage is lightning anyway. or call of hte brotherhood, to blueflame cuffs to element swap. there's also painters gloves to even them out.

I unspecced the chill ascendancy to test.
Cold damage on gear doesn't work.
The shaper ability does work like you say, there's a weaker version in the regular tree.
I don't have a Deadeye and don't want to respec my Monk (it's Chayula anyway), so just trying to get an advantage from what I have - a Stormweaver in maps.
I think the benefit is going to be that you only have one added shock gem and one added freeze gem, with the ascendancy everything shocks so you can use other abilities like Freezing Salvo. I just need to test if it's actually useful to use other abilities.
Is shock duration important? Double shocks could be more DPS.

Pretty sure I just fucked up and sold something way too cheap. Got some tier 4 boots and I was too lazy to look it up on trade and just dumped it into my 5 exalt tab. I sold it a minute later, then immediately got hit with like 200 different people sending buy requests. Thankfully I don't remember the stats, so I can't look it up and hate myself.

On the plus side the price difference between something sitting in a tab forever and infinite buyers doesn't have to be all that large. If your messages were full of people trying to throw more money at you than the list price that probably means you fucked up.
Dude that one waterway map in A3 was brutal as well, hate that map with a passion....has no place in maps IMO.
