From what I've seen the hate comes from two shady things they've done:
1)A sorta view botting on their Twitch stream where they would have the stream on their wiki site, so anyone on the wiki would be counted as a viewer. They were eventually banned for that.
2) Their wiki pages, at first at least, as just basic low info outlines of game topics, very shallow and are thought to be doing that just to "get in" the hype of a new game. (So what though, right? Every content creator does this).

As for it being a build guide, I wouldn't say it was, it was more a "I leveled with that and thought it was good and had interesting synergies", although it ended up structured pretty much the same so I can see your point.

I basically agree with neversink, it's especially the google/wiki stuff thats annoying imo. If fextralife tops google searches it will just mean that everyone will have a worse experience so that he can earn a buck.

Fextra life sucks twice as bad because they suck as a guide builder/information source AND they're very well known so a shit ton of normals are going to get incomplete/bad information because of this.

This is a rare case of *not* streamer drama. Fextralife and their wiki are a cancer on most gaming communities and NeverSink should be a millionaire due to all his work to make POE loot filters easy to use, manageable, and tolerable. He is right and it isn't even close.

From what I've heard it's because when a new game comes out they put up a guide immediately that is pretty much always wrong just so they can be first and then they fix it as they go. That and they view bot heavily.

I'm sorry...I haven't had wood this hard for a game since probably WotLK. Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring are next in line there.

Maybe twilight princess but its been too long and that ended up being not that great.

Fextra does definitely have that gay ass format on their site but it also has the following. Which is what I like the site for. Given I don't touch games until a bit after release so the glut of "bad guides" isn't something I've had to deal with a lot.
