Well this patch has broken my addiction to this game. Been playing Last Epoch learning all the systems there and will probably put in some serious time once their new patch comes out later this month. I'm still hoping POE2 turns out well, but I'm not going to put another 500 hours into this until some massive changes are done / campaign is actually complete.
I feel a good point to return to it is when all acts are done, but who knows when that is.

And yea, I'm not going to hate-play the game. Better to not inflate the CCU if you don't enjoy it.

i spectred a 'gilded beetle' out of keth, and it's so big and round that you can hide inside it and a lot of tiny swarmers can't melee you. kind of hilarious. I want to try that fly shitting beetle in act 3 and see if it does the same

Lmao at these shitters getting exposed because they need some brains and skill instead of just time invested.

I just beat Act 2 boss first try. ~10 hours, 20 deaths in total to get to Act 3.

Bosses are definitely slow, white mobs are fine though.

Huntress is the most god awful leveling experience you can possibly have across any ARPG. Whoever play tested this through the campaign (hopefully nobody) needs to be ridiculed into retirement.

This game is fundamentally at odds with itself. Trying to be both a skill game dark souls like and still have RNG mechanics like evasion, crit and other psuedo random does not work together. You put a skill like parry in the game and drive people to invest in it then the boss you're fighting actually has no auto attack for you to parry so you've pretty much just bricked your character. Can't evade spells sorry. As usual everything boils down to run around in a circle and cast something that (hopefully) you don't have to aim. Any other defensive mechanics you thought you had are novelty at best. Any other cool utility you thought you might invest in to enhance you're decision making? Lol nice wasted points faggot. That'll be some arbitrary amount of gold to respec sir. Experimenting in my game? I don't think so.

Amazing design. Am I being basked in the light of the vision?

There's parts of the game that are still fun. Several of the boss fights are 10/10 super sick. The main ARGP loot > progress > loot gameplay loop is still there and works pretty well once you get in to cruel and maps eventually. Some skills are pretty viscerally satisfying and even do okay damage.

The issue with all this is though, is that unless you're set up with a class/skill/gear combo that is above a certain power threshold, you don't get to have any of that fun. And boy if you're below the 'you must be this tall to ride the rollercoaster' line the game fucking sucks. It's pretty crazy how actually insanely frustrating and shit the gameplay feels if you're on the weak end of the power curve as you struggle to deal with every pack of white mobs, get pushed all over the map, stunlocked, and basically bullied around the game.

It's the exact opposite of the ARPG power fantasy if you bet on the wrong horse to start with.

Yes, up to lv40 and about to go back in time in Act 3 but got some IRL stuff slowing me down.

At about 14 hours.

It's pretty much the same difficulty as at launch, just need to tweak your build or gear if you get stuck.

Just for giggles I logged on to my 96 Infernalist, redid skill tree.

Ran a T16 with 23 Snipers, 2 Warriors and 2 Clerics. The speed was about the same as 0.1 when I entered my first map. The 3rd Rare killed 15 Snipers then slammed me to death.

And my Infernalist had probably 150+ Divines invested into it.

Jesus.

If you actually care to keep playing huntress:

Take your shield off, path to the Dance With Death keystone as soon as you can. Parry is a failed mechanic/idea and should be ignored entirely for now until or if they make massive changes to it.

Class feels pretty good with the 25% more skill speed with the keystone, and once you get to tier 2 supports and the level 30/40 skills you have tons of options to generate frenzy charges without parry.

The early game is absolute dog ass though and anyone trying to play huntress should cheese it with rake+stomp and taking only +str travel nodes for the first 25 levels.

May try this though I dont know if I have the gold to respec everything. Just beat the first Jamanra encounter and cant even uss the level 7 gem since I am missing 5 dex, but if I respec a str -> dex i lose 2 pieces of gear and rake ability.

Really trying to get to the fun part but for a brand new class it sure blows dick in the early game.

Probably late to the party mentioning this, but the witch has been totally castrated. I'm way too deep into leveling to want to start over with reassigning my passives.

Can't spam Hex Blast at all, literally does 0 damage because it won't work with blasphemy active.

My thoughts so far. I'm having a pretty easy time as a minion cuck. All snipers + flame wall srs. Specced into Lich with the unholy might passive 1st. Have some skill effect duration nodes which, i think, affect srs, flame wall (longer duration for increased projectile DMG), contagion and dark effigy.

Had to spec into a few random mana regen nodes to negate the 5% mana loss per second. But I'm good now.

I'm also dropping everything I can into the guild stash for every build so that those of you who don't want to play a FOTM build/leveler can have gear upgrades early.

I know for myself in particular, in 1.0 the alts felt easier, since we had a decent amount of rotatable upgrades available in guild stash.

I ended up going with the rake / blood stab or whatever / blood aura and it made a big difference for trash mobs......

Bosses still take way too long though......got to the zone before the real Jamanra fight and called it a night. Probably going to have to respec a ton once I get to Cruel but its feeling at least a little better.

Ugh I forgot about that fight, yeah with the lengths of my boss fights that one is gonna suck.
I got it down to about 1/4 to 1/8 without Mind over Matter but then I started dying to running out of flasks. Maybe possible but not worth it.

I think they could reduce the Health of every enemy in the game by half and it would still feel challenging.

The biggest problem for me is lack of support gems and gem sockets. They just don't drop.

This is the crux of the class. Parry would be an awesome mechanic in theory but the boss fights are mostly not designed around it in mind. Sure you can parry maybe half of the bosses, which in terms of POE design might as well be a bricked build.

Another mechanic is whirling slash. Cool in theory, but in what world do they think this game is made for a 3 cast "rune of power" type mechanic? Like what's the play here get AOE high enough for the whirlwind to take up the whole screen? Tons of attack speed? x to doubt.

I'm kind of settling on str stacking rake spam for now. Its boring, uninspiring and sub par but it gets the job done. Not sure if there's something with crit elemental twisters in this class or if bleed is the play. I'll see how the 40/50 skills feel, cause like you said it does look like it gets better.
