wow he has just no clue here.

ziz did push him on it ok. not dying, but having a slow kill speed is just as balanced as dying/not dying. loot per second is the same.
jon not understanding this while making an ARPG is horrible.

its the same problem with SSF and trade. SSF can't compete with 100k players selling loot. jon not making that connection or understanding how loot/second is the core underlaying stat for ARPGS is just holy fucking shit...

I wanted Ziz to ask if this was, details aside, the game that they wanted it to be. The pacing, the combat, the loot, etc. In broad strokes is this Path of Exile 2.

And then when Jonathan says yes cut the feed and start a live interview with the Last Epoch people.

Ya'll would have a point except they stated from the start that they're releasing half the acts, half the classes, half the weapons, and half the gems with an incomplete end game. While GGG deserves a lot of shit, this is pretty much the definition of early access.
THEY said they stopped treating it like early access. This is on them. Quit making excuses for game companies just because they built up good will in the past. That only lasts for so long. Go take a look at how Blizzard is doing nowadays. BioWare ring a bell?

There also needs to be some level of reward. Challenge without reward = monkey no push keys anymore

"Does Jonathan Rogers find Act 1 challenging night after night after getting home from work" is a fucking terrible benchmark to use. It does explain why packs of werewolves run at your meat as soon as you leave the starter town.

You need Jonathan and those like him on your team when you're building any kind of software project, game or otherwise. He's probably a brilliant developer and has come up with some insanely creative solutions to some real bugbear problems over the years.

The issue is he's not who you want to be in charge of a product. The Jonathan's of the software world are why 'project manager' is even a job title in the first place. Boundless creativity and (not so) borderline autism are not what you need to see a project completed.

You can see it all over the last few years of PoE2 development. Massive, structural shifts every 6 months because some new feature someone cooked up got implemented without any consideration to what it'd do to the rest of the game. People are pretty rightfully mad about how big zones/maps are, but guess what? They were totally fine 2.5 years ago when we still had flasks, but then they added WASD movement and the ability to move while using skills, and suddenly quicksilver flasks and player movement in general were on the chopping block because if the player is fast and can move while attacking then combat stops working etc.

Yea I think I was agreeing with the sentiment then taking his quote literally. But ignoring glaring weaknesses in your overall design choices because of your QA runs is pretty fucking short sighted not gonna lie.

Jesus. I don't use Convocation in PoE1 because it's an extra button I don't want to press and it's TOO GOOD for PoE2?

They don't need convocation, they just need to finetune AI summoning/movement.

I don't dislike Jonathan, I think you nailed it here. They would probably look better if they have Mark do more of the interviews and talking though.

can i do anything ot augment the bugs spawned by bloodtheif queen? i've tried a few supports and i haven't gotten firm proof they work on the skeeters.

Minion of minion scaling was a challenge in PoE1. I don't think there's any firm data for PoE2 yet.
