I gave these guys like 50-60 bucks, whatever it was back in the day. Weren't we supposed to get some coins or some underpants of juciliousness or some shit?

There should be coins to spend on cosmetics shit on your account, unless you spent it already. If it's not there I guess you need to contact support, but they might be overworked atm. Otherwise they're very nice about fixing this kind of shit from what I read.

Did you already spend your currency on more stash tabs or anything? I donated like $50 about a year ago, and immediately bought a crapload of custom stash tabs, and I still have them all. Think I have something like 20 tabs...

Just lost my Nemesis char cus of this dominus crash bug. Whenever I activate the final boss fight I crash immediately. Tried it twice just to see if the first time was a fluke. Turns out it wasn't a fluke, and I didn't get as lucky as I did the first time I crashed. sigh.

I got this and played it a bit back when you needed to pay something like $20 for early access. It was OK but nothing great. I see now from vids that they've really spruced it up a lot so I'm going to give it another shot. Is there a good noob guide (some sort of dos and don'ts) that someone can link?

Haha, guess I should have done a little research on Nemesis before I just jumped right in and started playing. Just got blown up and killed at level 22 by a rare mob that apparently had a modifier on it to explode for massive damage on death. Whoops.

Is there any advantage to playing Nemesis over just plain Hardcore? I haven't seen any different loot so far, and the rare mobs with the new/additional modifiers don't seem to drop any more loot than they normally would. Is it just purely added challenge?

Think I'm just tired of point click games. Got to level 5 and just logged off.

This game has some of the blandest sound effects ever.

The game starts real slow, but then ramps up to insane levels of action once you get a whole action bar worth of skills going.

The first hour can definitely be pretty boring though, but stick with it, it'll be worth it.

It's almost paced like an MMO. Your first hour is the equivalent of killing boars with your 1 attack skill. By the time you finish normal difficulty, things are so complex that it's more like boss raids by that point.

Did some maps and leveling, lag/desynch is still worse than Hitler with AIDs.

Maybe it will die down or get fixed at some point. I was suggested to spam some resynch macro (lol ru serious). Game's still good enough gameplay wise to be worth logging into.

Add Nirgon for some maps, was raping away and carrying hard last night.

Fun game - better than D3. Definitely gets better after the first act, but I agree with the sound effects/etc. I just fired up a few old podcasts and it was great. Went ranger w/ Split Arrow/Fire Trap/Rain of Arrows (sp?) and am just going around the tree picking up the +10 dex nodes to start, pulling groups of mobs and 2-3 shotting them. Game is a little complicated though, and still don't know what all the orbs do - tried the orb that "adds a random magic stat to magic item" on literally every piece of gear I had and wouldn't work. Desync is pretty freaking annoying as well - damn near died to the Warden dude because of it. Still though, I had a blast playing last night and was up unitl 1:30 without even realizing it. Does the gear get "cooler" looking later on? Are there armor sets/etc?

Not really, that's how the developer makes their money, by selling armor & weapon cosmetic effects/graphics, among other purely cosmetic things.

If you want a giant glowing sword that shoots flames and a lighted halo over your head, you have to pay for it.

The look and feel of this game in the first half dozen levels really sucks. First time I played I didn't like it at all.

If you stick it out a few more levels it's worth it. Following a vague build is a good idea too until you know the skill tree some more.

On orbs, the orb you're talking about(augmentation iirc but forgot) adds a magic mod to a magic item(which is blue, yellow is rare). However magic items can only have 2 mods, one prefix and one suffix, you can actually see it in their names. Rares can have up to 6mods, 3prefixes and 3 suffixes, however in that case you can't see which mods you have so you have to guess. Anyway for magic items you'd need one that doesn't have the full mods for augment to work. It's mostly useful when you're crafting stuff like flasks and maps.

For example you have a white quicksilver flask, you use 4(5? been too long) glassblower baubbles on it to increase it to 20% quality, then you use a transmute to make it magic(blue). It gets random mods, one or two. If the mods aren't what you want, you use an alteration to get another random set of mods. Sometimes it generates with only one mod, and it's a mod you want, for example Perpetual Flask(more charges gained). That's when you use augment to roll a suffix, for example Adrenaline(movement speed buff). But if you don't get adrenaline, you alt it again, and keep doing that. So augments are only really useful when you're alting stuff, you get only 1 mod and you like it so you augment for a 2nd mod.

Old thread but still relevant. Overall though you shouldn't be using most of your currency until later on, as it becomes more "valuable" when you make better items than to make newb stuff. There's exceptions and if you don't plan on playing a long time then might as well use them.

Definitely explains it, cheers for that. Heading home shortly to tinker with, but I was definitely just thinking of banking the currency until later levels.
