Im a dumbass and died in a no hp/mana corrupted area so im in normal now and going to stick it out till level 100 or whatever max is for my witch. If anyone dies and wants to get rid of some stuff, please let me know. Or if anyone has some nifty summoner items they want to sell. I have a bunch of everything and willing to give ya whatever you want for some better items.

Nylab in game on normal - been rocking a skele totem and just about 1900hp at level 48. Act 2 on cruel. No one seems to be online for all the shit they try to sell so im trying you guys.

Is there a RR guild with some activity on ambush? I've been playing in the original one in invasion, with my friend and I composing 2/3 of the active players.

While the most recent RIP was my fault I am still tired of how slow invasion feels. Groups are sparse. The challenge lies mostly in not getting bored. And after all the fixes the best way to play the new content is to avoid it.

I feel like giving this another go after not playing since the open beta - more speicifically, I stopped when the maximum level was 95-96 or so and as I understand, things have happened since then. Is there a consensus which league is the most enjoyable? I played strictly hardcore before and didn't have too much of a problem (my summoner could solo merciless piety in 10 seconds sooooooo easily) so I guess I just want some suggestions on what to play, should I just continue with my hc chars or are the new two leagues just that much cooler?

Invasion seems to be quieting down now that they've balanced out a lot of the one shot invasion bosses, you'll probably find normal HC dead till the league is almost over.

Forum - Announcements - Our First Two Week Charity Race Event - Path of Exile
From May 10 to 24 (US time), we'll be running a two week Path of Exile Ambush/Invasion race event to benefit the Child's Play charity. Child's Play is a charitable organisation that raises money to provide toys and games for children in over 70 hospitals worldwide.

To support the charity, we're introducing an exclusive new helmet skin called the Angelic Mask. It's only available during the two week event and 100% of the proceeds will be directly donated to the Child's Play charity on your behalf. It's priced at $5 which is hopefully a nice easy amount that everyone is comfortable donating. It goes on sale when the event starts this coming weekend.
Event Prizes:

Due to the generosity of our gaming hardware partners, we have some awesome prizes to give out. We've tried hard to make sure that everyone has a chance to win these hardware prizes, so we've pitched them at lower levels of participation.

We'll pick winners randomly from the people who reach the following levels or higher. The prize levels continue to stack as you level up. You can win prizes from multiple tiers.

Prizes available in the random draw include:

Level 15: 100x Stash Tab Bundles
Level 20: 100x Premium Stash Tab Bundles
Level 25: 10x Razer Mice
Level 30: 5x Razer Keyboards
Level 35: 5x NVIDIA High-performance Graphics Cards
Level 50: 10x Sets of all Seraph Microtransactions (Armour pieces, Wings, Weapon Effect and Footprint Effect)
Level 65: 5x Sets of Signed Prints of Original Early Concept Art
Level 85: 1x One hour private Q&A on Skype with Chris, Jonathan and Erik

In addition, the top 5 players (ranked by experience) will receive an Alternate Art Demigod's Bounty unique item.

Cool.

Btw, PoE has been my go to for unwinding after work again lately. elemental buzzsaw Scion.

So who else is going to be part of the two-week race? A friend convinced me to try it out. First time on a hardcore league. Going with a molten strike 1h/shield block build.

I dunno, this game just has way more pull to me than Diablo. Just keeps pulling me back in with the diverse builds and challenge.

If it wasn't for the damn awful loot system this would easily be my favorite game of all time. So close but so far away from greatness.

What exactly is wrong with the loot system?
From level 1-63? Nothing really, great game. From level 63+ into endgame? You better bot, buy gear with real cash, or do some serious no-lifer grinding to continue making meaningful progression. The drop rate on the good gear is absolutely abysmally bad.

Yeah , why i gave up this....i mean i played the shit out of this and dropped a good amount of cash for tabs along with buying into the beta....more then a box price of a full game. But RMT made playing this to actually maybe trade for gear damn near impossible , sad really....was/is a fun game. Just really like the self found route and its very difficult/time consuming to do that in this.

Sounds like exactly the same issues people say D3 has, even with trading

Loot isn't that hard to come by if you get a decent spec and into mapping. At the very least you farm chaos orb recipe and buy what you need from the no lifers. This is on HC of course, I'm sure the standard economy is fucked.

The problem is there is this weird disconnect between the no lifers, and normal players.

Like you go read a "guide" on a build. And the guides NEVER give you leveling advice. They do not tell you what skills DO, or what supports they interact with.
Every single one will be like, "this is a cheap build, all you need is an Alpha howl, a 6l chest, and 9 20% qual skill gems". And thats it. a level 90 passive tree, and their gear list.

Man, if I had any of that shit, I wouldn't need your guide. And just listing your gear is not a guide either.
Same goes when trying to trade, or anything. if its not the BEST, its worth nothing.

Not all builds are like that. Sure, a great many are, and it is a pain as a new player trying to find guides that explain things. However, most of the guides labeled as "newbie" or some variant of that do lay out exactly how to spend your points and things like that.

People struggle with D3 which has 1/5th the depth this game has with builds and items, this for sure isnt a beginner friendly game.

Well I got a single 85 Bow ranger on Invasion. Was forced to toss salad TWICE by invasion bosses without the choice of jelly or syrup, until I learned about a mechanic that has helped me go way farther in the game as a Bow user.

I call it the Anal Puncture spec because I use Trap + Puncture and throw the traps right into tough bosses poopers. High top end damage bows are the least desirable kind thus the cheapest and therefore my favorite kind of bow. It hits so damn hard it let's me devote virtually everything else to defense which is so needed on Invasion.

0% block, no more than 4 link needed, and I've managed to 2-4 shot the lvl 71 Piety. Just yesterday got into the first 73-74 maps I've had drop and thrashed them, going to do more today and find it thrilling as I have no experience with these bosses .

JVIRUS in game name on Invasion, hit me up if you need something.

Thats pretty impressive for the 71 piety, she is not a pushover like her normal version. I miss that about PoE, having to think and use strategy for some bosses and maps. Everything is so faceroll easy with no risk in D3 but its still fun =)

Yeah, the vast majority are. its a kindof annoying. And like I said, trading can be a pain in the ass too for new players.
New players should focus entirely on the vendor recipes really. 6 links for jewelers. collecting "sets" for chaos. etc.

My current main is a 67 elemental buzzsaw scion. Looked up some guides for that, when I sat down to play again, since I was so out of touch with current gems, etc. The guides where hardly helpful at all.
Like, I ended up having to make a few alts, just to get the quest rewards for a few gems. The scion only gets one aura. haste iirc, I needed to make a templar for wrath, and maurader for anger or something like that. picked wrong with bloodmagic at one point too, so had to bring the marauder up to get that too. any competent guide should include info like that, when to take a quest reward. and/or if an alt will be needed to get a key gem, without trading. Or note if a key gem is drop only.
The guide also was really not helpful in leveling. For example, it said attack speed was key. 1 handed weapon is key. all your damage comes from auras.
Well, here is the problem. That is only true level 40+ish. Attack speed is king for an aura based spectral throw, AFTER your auras have +70% effect, and -60% mana reserved, allowing 3 of them or more.. and the level of the auras themselves are higher then level 4 or so. A single level 1 aura does not provide as much damage, on a 1.7-2.1 attack speed weapon, as big 2 handed weapon when you first get that aura.
LMP is also only good on ST at higher levels, when entering farm mode. It doesn't shotgun like freezing pulse, so LMP outright decreases your damage output. it ONLY gives you larger aoe. so, its outright poor for boss killing or progression. its only good when again, farming, and your dps output greatly exceeds the areas, hp totals.

Strongboxes are an amazing addition to the game.

Alot of the league stuff really. just so good. Rogue exiles, invasion bosses, vaal stuff..

Current charity league is wonderful.

Doing an easymode, raging spirit/zombie witch, for the charity league. Again, had a hard time finding a guide to really give some good advice on how they work, and what works best. Melee splash, multistrike, fast cast, fast attack seems to be the deal. Then go for auras here as well, particularly when it comes to passives. hp and aura buffs.
Not sure how to deal with life leach yet.
Also, witch doesnt get those melee gems... dont really want to play an alt to get them. but might have to.

Auras seem to be kindof OP nowadays.

What builds are people running on invasion/two-week race?

I am running a molten strike/block build that is really fun atm. I feel very tanky (LGOH seems op with molten strike and multistrike while leveling) and my dps is strong with few talents invested in dps.

Only lvl 55 atm, hope to hit merciless tonight. Have only had one close call really, a desync after opening a box that almost killed me.
