I went life with Eldritch on one test build and with that Atziris Foible or whatever neck its pretty insane with Disc aura. You can basically use any skill and Arctic Armour without any mana issues.

Waiting for this tree and nerf list sucks ass. Need to see what the ES changes they are keeping secret are as well as the Aura change which is going to completely change the entire games meta once again.

I don't think they will change too much about auras. It will break way too many builds. Chris Wilson (on the State of Exile podcast) made a big point about "learning their lesson" with the cwdt nerf, saying how they had a noticeable player loss because of all the builds that were broken and people realizing their characters no longer worked at all.

I think the nerfing of snapshotting and possibly a small reduction in effectiveness of wrath and anger is what we will see and not much more. Then maybe a slight nerf to low-life. They aren't going to run the risk of bricking the characters of 90% of support builds and a huge number of dps builds.

In the past Ive never noticed how long it takes them but is it usually fast we'll get the wheel pre patch? or hours in advance?

Taking time off of work for this release for 21st & 22nd because its 6pm EST on the 20th but if they dont release the skill wheel then I'll need time the 20th.

Edit: I hope to god they dont touch Aura's (again)

Hmm last time I played and there was a large change which was at release, they released it a couple days before and it was kinda exceptional, since they temporarily lifted the NDA from the alpha server to do it. Don't know if they've done it since. The way their skill calculator is made the only way for it to reflect the changes is to link directly to the alpha client but then they need to push a patch that's like the same as what we get on live and not more advanced and there's some security shit about downloading the client or whatever the fuck so they've been reluctant in the past.

Damn that sucks, Its a total tree revamp and total point reset for every league which means it probably wont be up soon. I know as of yesterday the devs were responding, pretty candidly too on Reddit that basically ES is getting redone as well and some other random comments.

Who knows about life too maybe with less nodes and more life per level CI wont be the only way to accomplish Uber.

Would be nice if they reset our bandit choices as well. I know you can pay 20 regrets to do it per act, but that's not exactly cheap for your average player.

I feel like GGG could tinker with the alpha client passive tree and push it to the offline skill tree program.

I for one would be giddy if they managed to do this.

Right that's what I said but they've always been like "eh it's a lot of work so we don't bother", not sure it'd change, but maybe.

It was posted somewhere that they were looking into a way to get the skilltree up (a few days) early. If nothing else they'll allow some streamers to show it off again and that guy making the offline tree should get it too.

Right that's how it went last time, that worked out fine but felt a bit weird, as long as you check reddit/ggg tracker though you find out about it.

They can just post a fucking screenshot of the tree and a list of brief descriptions for the new notable nodes. It's not that hard.

Someone zoomed in and mined the top right corner so Shadow + Witch and figured out most of the changes, there is a good thread on reddit with them.

I think its such a shame that the netcode in this game and generally less polished feel make it a no-go for a lot of people. I genuinely think this crafting expansion puts PoE so far ahead of D3 that its not even comparable, but the vast majority of hack/slash players play D3 for a few weeks and then quit without ever getting deep into PoE.

One of my friends plays exclusively self-found and got really bitter/jaded about PoE last year when his fail-build got crushed lategame. Mid-2013 PoE with zero trading and zero research was not a friendly place. I really really hope that the Masters can flesh this game out for the "average" player, who does NOT want to run a store thread on the forums and scan through indexers looking for opportunities.

Masters to smooth mid game progression, plus the dual end-game of Mapping and Atziri/Uber Atziri... COOL LOOT.... this game wafflestomps D3 so fucking hard when it comes to longevity.

I know I sound so fanboyish, I'm just sad that the playerbase isn't rewarding GGG as much as I think they should. They launched an indy competitor against one of Blizzard's flagship IPs and have kept up the good fight!

Believe me I am a convert from the Diablo world and while I like both you cant even compare D3 to PoE really now. D3 for me has cleaner character designs and overall their classes appeal to me more but the end game is lol. You do repetitive rifts with bosses you can AFK to beat with a key held down on the hardest difficulty. There is no risk in D3, everything is pretty much faceroll and you sure as hell dont lose hours of grinding for a death.

In PoE we have the freedom of character and skill design, end game raids, crafting, customized maps we design, and expanded crafting which allows for choosing specific stats. If we want to grind a jungle themed map with skeletons that shoot 8 GD arrows and 2 end bosses then we can make that. Every new league we get basically a brand new meta of builds with new content while D3 is the same boring shit.

I really want to love this game, but the polish keeps putting me off. If I want to just butcher some demons, I launch D3 and just roll around for an hour. If I want to play PoE, I need to look up a build, figure out which league I'm going to play, think whether I'll stick around long enough to maybe run the race starting in an hour, look up where to get the key skills... Not to mention the desync issues and the "feel". I'll see if I can make it at least to lvl 40 when the new season starts.

I really wish that they had something like races on demand. Put up various permanent races that can be run at any time of your choosing, but still have the time limit, and are only allowed once per account or something like that. I've tried a few races, but they are never at convenient times for me, and I can rarely both start on time, and finish because of that. They could easily set up a leaderboard for the various races, and leave it active for a day, or a week, or whatever. Just because they want to run a 1 hour race doesn't mean they necessarily need everyone playing it at the exact same time.

Yeah Desync is a thing that gets the best of us from time to time, however, the "Feel" is just the low base cast/move/attack speeds at the start. Get some nodes/gear to boost it and the game becomes less Feely.

While true the thing is this is what creates "skill" in this game. When you really gain a feel for the tree and how it works making a build or even copying one is suddenly very easy. All you really need to know is 1. What are the main skills used? 2. What if any uniques are required? 3. What are the critical tree nodes required?

Sure you can copy their guide for leveling, copy their bandit rewards, copy their skill tree exactly but if you know how the tree flows and what areas are generally best for your preferences then you can make nearly any build your own without spending more then 5 minutes reading up on it. Sure Diablo 3 is easier to jump into and lay waste to demons but the tradeoff is you don't get the depth of combos or personal skill tree preferences. Then they regurarly add new content, game-changing uniques, and fun game modes to keep you coming back. They have to because that is their only way to make money.
