I was considering trying puppeteer zombies, but it sounds like DD will work on them, and offerings might eat them.

Dang

Did a few de-rust runs on a scion to test some ideas for starters. Playing through the campain in PoE2 as much as I did really illustrates how absolute shit the campaign and gearing process in PoE1 is. I forgot how awful trying to maintain socket #s and colors while leveling and upgrading gear is.

Took the Scion, fully unascended, to yellow maps and its quite painless. Even with the shitty weapon which I somehow never got an upgrade for

Static Strike + Smite.

This blasts through the campaign because you get a bunch of synergies between the two skills and Static Strike snapshots. So you Smite + Ambush -> Static Strike -> Whirling Blades until Static falls off, then repeat. Scion is great for this because of the skill effect duration in the starting area. A1 is a little slow until you get Static Strike at level 12. Take Poacher's Mark at level 16 for extra single target damage and tankiness + frenzy charges.

EDIT: And I just realized I forgot Tinctures exist and wasn't using one... lol

Yeah, I honestly can't go back now. The experience is too awful to stomach. At this point I'll just wait for PoE2 to dump PoE development and get their shit together.

I was happy to down most of the ubers and a few valdos / 60% deli T17s on my Settlers character. Think it'll take new endgame content or a really cool league mechanic to get me to start over again.

I was going to play this, but socket and colours is enough of a deal breaker I think. What an awful system, I blame President Shinra.

I'd rather deal with the sockets then the slog that is POE2 campaign. On my 3rd character on POE2 now and its annoying how much back tracking I feel I'm doing and how large the zones are and how often I just run into dead ends trying to "get through it".

At least it looks nice I guess.

Granted I've run the POE1 campaign probably close to 75 times so maybe POE2 will become as mind numbing as POE1.

Sockets/colors are shitty but movement speed is just so much better. Before you're even out of Act 1 you're rocking a couple solid movement skills and quicksilver flasks. Frostblink how did I ever get by without you.

I prefer gear sockets and colors to what they've done in POE2. I like the complexity and all the variables to consider in POE1.

Can't say I agree that it's interesting or engaging to be playing a spell build and every single good upgrade that drops is Armour based so too bad so sad on your sockets. Evasion gear you might be able to make work, maybe. Depending on the skill you're playing.

PoE2 has different problems. Like shit layouts and huge zones. But the skill and gear progression systems are infinitely better while leveling.

The PoE2 system, while having a lot going for it, fights me nearly every step of the way unless I'm using the weapon type associated with the class I'm playing and upgrading recommended skills with recommended supports. I have no idea why it shows me a tab of skill gems for a weapon type I'm not wearing nor have in a weapon swap and do this every single time I open the window. It grates on me. I click off the little checkbox for recommended gems over and over due it to rechecking itself each time the UI is closed. It's just so many more clicks than it needs to be. I get what they're going for but I wish I could opt out of the whole thing or there was a Lily Roth style merchant I could interact with instead.

Yea, the gem UI sucks ass.

Shouldn't need to click on an uncut gem to open the damn thing either.

What I want is a combination of the two.

You buy a Lightning Arrow gem. It comes with one socket for a support. You assign it to a slot on your character. Each slot corresponds to a piece of equipment and has a maximum number of gems/sockets it can hold. Chest goes up to six, gloves/boots/hat 4, etc. Want more sockets on a skill? A series of currency items expand the amount. Get a new piece of armor? New weapon? No problem. The gem, its sockets and its supports can be allocated anywhere with the space to hold them. The gem has the sockets. The equipment just has the capacity. You also can have support for a chain of five or six gems and supports together like people sometimes do in PoE1. Your Grace, Discipline, Clarity, Herald, Enlighten, Empower daisy chain shit can work the same way it does now. If you're married to one support gem of each kind you just disable that specific interaction for PoE2.

I've been taking a couple characters through the campaign to make sure I'm not bricking a character by trying to do a thing too fast. It's crazy the degree that sockets, links and colors dwarf everything else an item can say. If an item is a big upgrade but you can't make the sockets work it's not an upgrade. Fresh PoE2 players showing up out of curiosity are going to be puzzled by why their kill monsters get loot game makes it so hard to wear what you find.

Sockets do trump all but it's way easier to craft the stats you need. Off coloring is also pretty easy in end game and with corrupted currency linking anything isn't too horrible.

TLI runs a sort of hybrid system where gear can roll capacity and you can reroll it with a currency. Capacity is based largely on ilvl. Interface is also so much better. You just open the interface wherever and switch your skills when you want. You essentially carry around a separate gem inventory everywhere.

How bad is it gonna be to gear up Conner's MFA whisperer? From what I've seen there's gonna be a lot of people playing it. He's saying it's 20div + indigon to get it into the crazy scaling territory, but if everyone's playing it is that number gonna inflate a lot, and how is it before that point to farm up the currency? I know pretty much nothing about past versions of the build.

He is DEFINITELY underestimating the value of his items, I leaned toward it but price checking that stuff led me to believe the "20 div" version is gonna be more like 40 minimum. 40 divines honestly though isn't crazy expensive in a settlers league. You will definitely get gouged though, they should rename the Mathil effect to the Conner effect.

Ya I ask because I played his MS of the zenith build for settlers, and prices just kept going crazy on everything. That's my big concern with it. Palstron's KB whisperer looks really fun too, might go with that instead.

well.... be prepared, both builds share essentially the same gear - dex/mana stacking.

I'm going KB as well :(

I will be very, very surprised if whisperer isn't at LEAST 50% of the playerbase

Does the second node(explode corpses when warcrying) mean you can't use that with General's Cry? Seems like some heavy anti synergy when the proceeding node gives so much warcry cdr.
