Caliane, the thing with the casting in a door, its a known bug that you cant cast on mobs that are right on a wall, so ya doors suck ass

yeah, I know. its gotten worse too. used to just be doors, but now anything even near a wall, you cant fire pulse or spear at.
but still need a good alternative while the bug exists. all novas kindof suck.

huh, looking at the forums, I'm seeing some saying shock nova was op at some point? was terrible when I last played, is terrible now..

What's with Necromantic Aegis?

Necromantic Aegis:
All bonuses from an equipped Shield apply to your Minions instead of you.

So.. if I spec into some shield circles that give me shit like 20% increased Defences form equipped Shield // 1% additional Shield Block Chance ....my minions would receive that correct? Or would they only get the pure stats from my shield?(in which case that would be retarded)

Xzi i belive its just pure stats off the shield, could be wrong,

Caliane, i think rank 10 or so of shock nova had a high chance of shocking the target so first pulse would shock then added dmg from next ones

I think its great. Its a lot more in depth compared to D3. Its not as polished and has some issues like the casting bug Caliane described, but it has so many possible ways to build a character and combined with the currency system makes for a pretty enjoyable experience.

So what is the overall consensus on this game so far? Yay or nay?
I was wondering this as well. I downloaded it last night, but I have yet to actually create a char or anything. Out of curiosity is there anything that sucks as far as classes in this game? I generally play caster/mage type classes in most games and was going to potentially roll a witch I think it was?

You need to read a general overview of the game, Pyros had one written up on page 14/15 I believe.

Classes such as Marauder/Witch/etc don't matter too much. Everyone shares the same massive skill tree, so you will just start in a more caster friendly spot if you choose Witch, but you could easily go caster with any class.

As for whether this game is worth it. I believe it is. This game beats Diablo III and Torchlight II in my mind. The only thing I do miss is the fluid movements of Diablo but a little rigid animation doesn't kill all the massive innovations this game has made for the genre.

Found it, thanks for the info! I will certainly have to mess with the game and see because at first thought saying that basically anybody can do anything kind of turns me off. I come waaay back from EQ so class disparity is still a pretty big deal to me. I enjoy being able to do things that others can't but I assume that can still be accomplished via the path you take in the skill tree. I suppose the idea of the starting classification meaning nothing is what is bothering me. Thanks again for the info though!

So the build I decided to go with is a dual rapier duelist build. The selection of skills are as follows:

Defense: +Health %, Life Regen, % Life Leach, and Life on Hit will be the primary method of dealing with damage. The goal is to get the health pool large enough through passives and gear so damage taken is no longer as scary and regen will soak up a larger portion of damage taken.

Offense: The main damage skills used will be Frenzy and Flicker Strike. Frenzy to get charges and flicker to spam around the battlefield. Hopefully some damage will be avoided this way. Blood rage will be maintained to help boost each key area (attack speed, frenzy charges, life leach)

Mobility: Leap strike or whirling blades and possibly phase run will be used to move around the battle field and help get out of sticky situations.

Auras: The two auras that will be used will be Haste and Vitality. This is a sticky point for me, I would like to use the blood magic passive, however the auras would reserves vast amounts of my hp and render thee build useless. So I am deciding to instead place the main attack skills with a blood magic support gem and let the auras eat my mana that I will hardly use. If there is a way to get the auras to use blood magic without killing my HP let me know. I am only two points away from it.

Passives:Hereis the build at 85 skill points spent. The main points are to get Hp Nodes, Life regen and life leach, Increased frenzy charges, and increased critical chance and critical multiplier.

Andhereis the build at the unrealistic 111 point mark.

I decided to forgo the Iron reflexes and Unwavering Stance combo, since that pretty much makes armor your only mitigation stat. It does offer stun immunity, but my larger HP pool will hopefully serve as a buffer against that anyways.

Anyways let me know what you think. I am only level 17 atm and just got golem's blood, so I really don't know how this will actually work.

You can still have very specialized and unique builds. This system actually makes it less likely someone will have your build because you can build extremely odd builds. Whether they're good or not will be another question, but its possible.

Do you ever look "cool" in this game? From everything I've seen everyone, even high level players don't look that great. Obviously not expecting wow / d3 crazy awesome armor but is there anything? Flaming swords, etc.

Not really, most of the cool cosmetic stuff (flaming sword is among those) is bought with cash. There's even no place during character selection that shows a close up of your character, which is a serious mistake imo. I have no problem with that, if the game is about you fighting for your life in ruins of ancient civilization, then why not.

If you are wanting to see how an ARPG is done right, you should be playing this game. This is the direction Diablo 3 should have been taking...but they were too busy trying to figure out how they can wring as much cash out of a franchise instead of trying to progress the genre and make a GOOD game. I really hope this game makes GGG a LOT of money...because these guys deserve it. Can't wait to see what they come out with in the future.

You never look like the result of a pinball machine having sex with a neon light, but the endgame armor does look pretty cool, in a Dark Souls kind of way. Issue being, with ilvl and stuff, you can end up wearing much lower lvl armor than the high stuff because it has good stats/link and a high ilvl, so you still look pretty shitty half the time. All stuff that's particles based like magic effects, flaming swords, halos and shit is gonna be cosmetic though, or maybe the new race reward might have something unique like that but yeah other than that it's plain realistic armor unless you spend money for it.
