Had an awesome run through act 3 playing a melee shadow with a melee duelist friend of mine. We had some close calls with brutus 2.0 and some of the shield charger mobs. What a blast though, love this game.

yeah. I find it really hard to justify CI.

your effective health will be higher with health, evasion, resists, etc.

ways to make it work.
Ghost reaver, physical damage, life leech. Blood rage. life on hit.

so wand witches and shadows ought to be able to make use of it.
Will seriously need to stack defense still though. resists, evasion, es. probably get shield nodes.
Max resists at all times will do more for keeping your ES up then just stacking more ES. And some evasion will help with the physical.

Actually got a nice shield last night. kindof shifted my thoughts on how I was gearing shields.
Was running a typical +15% spell damage innate, some random % mod, spirit totem.
Got a evasion/es +30fire resist, +15% chaos resist shield.
Lost 5 average damage on my pulse per hit.

that spell damage is pretty trivial on shield, since its just adding into the rest of what you have. I would recommend going full defensive on your shield. Resists, block , etc is far more point for point valuable.
Even if its something like +15% innate, +46% spell damage mod. A high roll defensive mod is probably better.

Also, back with the ES delay, my math was bit off still. I have 95% es delay reduction. I was forgetting the 2 nodes in witch starter area.

Just loaded up the new open beta after being in the closed beta for 6+ months...

Did they totally jack with the field of view in this game? I can't zoom out nearly as far as I used to be able to in closed beta. I feel like the distance that I can see on my screen has been cut down at least 50%...the view is WAY too zoomed in now, I don't like playing it in it's current view at all, I feel like I cant see where the hell I'm going.

Anyone know of a manual work-around to let you zoom out more?

Pretty sure the FOV has never changed a significant amount, because people have been complaining that it's too zoomed in the entire time I've been reading the game's forums. It looks the same to me as it did a year ago. Personally I think they should have widened the view just a few degrees more and it would make a big difference without drastically affecting game balance. About the only workaround for it is to play in windowed mode and shrink the window vertically. PoE's widescreen mode is hor+, so the view gets much wider while staying the same vertically.

They also really need to put in a dithering option for walls, trees, pillars, etc.

For anyone that has either been in the beta for a while or has been power gaming since it opened. How is the replayability and item drops? Is it random enough and fun having to reroll characters for different classes and builds? Item drops actually feel rewarding? Ive only been able to play for like an hour so far. Just curious if its going to be a good long game like d2 was or if its going to be a one and done kind of game like d3.

Pretty sure being a small independent gaming company, they just didn't have the capital to put toward server stability for this amount of people (70k online last I saw). Hopefully everyone is buying micro transactions so they have some money to fix issues like this.

I have a +45% to minion damage gem that I had just traded for a legendary ring that was pretty dope and the fucking server crashed. At least I still have the gem to trade again when I can get back in game. Looks like they've added a queue now, I'm 13k in line rofl......

They did it yesterday too...I was #16000 in queue and I was able to get in within 5 mins.

Just got done with the Crematorium in A3, and I must say, I'm loving this game the more I play it, and this is my third toon that I've gotten 30+

Heres my build, a blood-leech marauder.http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-s...7vTvIv9kj3vg==

Im at 3.4% life regen per second so far, after I get Resolute Technique, Ill get two more nodes to get 4.2% Liferegen/sec. Its pretty nutty. I havent done any damage nodes because I'm going two handed and have had zero issues killing mobs. At level one I went straight down the lower strength path directly to bloodmagic, then to the Golem's Blood getting 1.5% life per second in the duelist tree + beserking for 15% atk speed. After that I started in my own tree going towards the HP + Trolls blood for 1.5% life regen per sec and now on my way to Resolute technique. After that Ill get the .8% left in the life regen in the duelist tree then maybe get some armor nodes, not sure yet.

Running Heavy Strike/Leap Slam + Fire Damage, Ground Slam + Life Leach per hit, and Warlords mark. Warlords mark is tits for my build with its 3% life leach, because It adds more to my 7% life leach from physical damage, totaling to 10% life leach from physical. Not to mention it adds E. Charges which give a nice boost to my armor. All of my life leach and life regen are making me nearly invincible. We'll see way comes my way in A3 though.

I also found a unique ring that Im using called Kaom's sign that does:
+ 25 health
+16 to Strength
2% of Physical Attack Damage Leeched back as Life
+1 Maximum Endurance Charge

Was a perfect find for my build.

Also having some fun with this. Even with the instability I like it much more than a year ago when I played.
Currently a lvl 36 witch near the end of act 3.

I scored my first unique, an axe.
I like the true uniqueness and power of these items, they inspire builds all by themselves.

Just brought the whole fucker down for maintenance. Sort of wondering how long this open beta will be sustainable for. I'm not sure what server expenses are at that scale, but I'm going to assume that their FTP and donation revenue will have trouble offsetting the costs.

TLDR; Peak concurrent users at 70k this morning crushed their infrastructure.

We're getting absolutely crushed under the number of players trying out Path of Exile, and this has manifested as a server crash that has been occurring hourly today. In addition, there is a very rare bug that caused some players to log in to accounts from other players. The scope of this bug is very limited (and in almost all cases, the players logged out without disturbing anything). Fixes for both are being worked on at the moment. Because the game experience is compromised and people are disconnected due to the crashes, we have turned the game servers off until they can be brought up in a more stable state. I will update this post as we go - it shouldn't be too long! Thanks again for your patience, and sorry about these launch issues. It's amazing to see such high demand for the game.

Edit: The bug where players log in to the wrong account only affected people queued on a login server where that login server had also crashed. We have a fix for this that we are implementing and will test/build/deploy soon.

Edit2: For those interested, player concurrency hit 69850 players before it was high enough to take down the realm. Also, the current server problems do not appear to be to do with the DDOS we endured on the weekend. These are scaling problems with our servers and software, so we can fix them.

Edit3: Jonathan has made a serverside patch for the accessing-wrong-account bug that we are manually applying to the realm at the moment. Thankfully the number of people affected looks small.

Every day they break the prior days record for concurrent. Does anyone else think its pretty amazing that a team of 15 people successfully funded/developed/launched a competing product against a flagship Blizzard game? Plus, they monetized PoE perfectly: F2P (absolutely huge in 2012/2013), zero pay2win; spend money in cash shop for extra stash tabs, cosmetic changes to character (e.g., nifty polygons for weapon)... compare/contrast to Blizzards model of $60 box cost and pay2win AH.
