Meh,

I play both D3 and PoE. They are IMO different enough now to be comparing apples to oranges. D3 is absolutely shallow and fun for only a week or 2 at the start of every season, but even after all of the PoE optimizations and such over the years, D3 still "feels" better from a game play experience. I know it's been argued a few pages back, but adding an AH or some sort since drops are so atrocious and "fun" builds so gear dependent, while not directly related to game play, would make the game a hell of a lot more enjoyable for me.

EDIT: I just realized I just restated what Tenks said, except in long form...

I'm almost 100% convinced i'm going max block/spellblock 1h/shield sunder bleedsploison to start and will save for another build once the meta fleshes. It's just gonna be too good in this new skip map boss meta.

But I thought bleeds and poisons sucked.

Gladiator ascendancy makes mobs that are bleeding blow up and damage each other, plus gives you +damage on bleeding enemies. Insane pack clearing speed. Not great for bosses but I think everyone will be skipping bosses and if not you swap out static strike anyways.

Bleedsplosion more about the splosion then the bleed.

I guess if you're going to skip bosses, sunder makes the most sense. Skipping bosses seems kind boring though.

We'll see how long it takes to kill em. If a map takes 3-4 minutes to run (w/o killing boss) and a boss takes a minute to kill it just destroys efficiency. You're burning chaos and XP.

So I decided ED/Contagion probably isn't the best idea since it can be a problem with other people around, and I plan to duo about 90% of the time with a friend. Plus I think it's going to be worth sharing Zana dailies with a full group this time, even as annoying as that is.

We're thinking of both using this build: Forum - Ranger - [3.0 Raider]Ultimate EleBuzzsaw (Easily Clear All Content U-Lab/U-Atziri/Shaper etc) - Path of Exile to make gearing more efficient. Spec blades doesn't have any issues we'd run into while grouped, does it?

Wouldn't running the same build making gearing inefficient?

Not if you assume you will never get a single useful drop for any build. If all you do is farm currency and buy shit off poe.trade then hand-me-downs work out well.

I think I'm landing on a Terminus Est Berserker using Wild Strike. Someone tell me why this is dumb. I'm not saying it isn't, but I can't think of any obvious reasons why. I basically wanted to play a Wild Strike build and use Kaom's Heart at the same time.

kaom's heart is going to be sooo expensive in league given health is the new meta

I'm fine with having a league starter build with some expensive pieces of a gear. Kaom's Heart isn't a requirement for the build to function, but it does boost the eventual max HP over a dual wield setup.

Ya it all depends on the build. I put builds into three catagories:

1. Starter to make quick cash for future build (quick but usually not that scalable end game)

2. Starter and scalable endgame (usually a little slower getting into maps but once you make money it's great)

3. Rich man's build that only works with rich man's items (don't even think about this w/o items bought and paid for, destroys everything quickly)

In league, I usually go 1->3.

Looks like we'll be playing the same exact build. Here's the passive routing I came up with if interested: link

Skip map boss meta? I haven't played one bit of the beta. Please enlighten me.

I'll likely just follow whatever the number crunchers come up with in this thread:

Forum - Duelist - [2.6] Unstoppable Gladiator 78% Max Block/Spells. 240K DPS Static Strike. Low Budget League Starter - Path of Exile

Then once the meta settles in a couple weeks and I have some currency reroll something a little more unique.

I used that way back in... Rift league? It's fucking gross. I had a necro aurobot too and Sunder just plowed the field and fucking Static Strike sowed the oats, man. Static Strike was way, WAY undervalued. It absolutely fucking destroyed bosses. I almost duo'd Shaper with that build, which is nuts considering how much hp he gets for another person and how none of my gear was mirror worthy or anything. The key was Surrender and maxing chaos resist via items and jewels. Then it's just stack flat phys and attack speed and win. I also had red nightmare so I could drop my dumb Anvil. My tooltip DPS sitting my myself unbuffed, unflasked in my hideout was like 170k or something stupid.
