Here is the Trickster RF tree I built which has over regen. I was thinking of slightly modifying it to add the duration nodes and using it for Scorching Ray. I went to 100 with RF last league which is very smooth but was thinking of maybe SR, CA, or even ED like you mentioned?

I love freezing pulse too, no shame bro. That was the first toon I took to max level, it was actually really fun to do as well.
It was my first run at RF and because of the purities + regen it was an amazing build to level with. You literally just shield charge only with insane defense and very high DPS. The only deaths I had were at 99 because I weapon swapped by mistake while using ephemeral edge so my regen went away and splat.
League "starter build" videos from the pros are starting to drop.
Mathil is probably in top 5 of most knowledgeable players of the game. He's in the small group of players that establish the meta.
For new and returning after a long break folks i'd highly recommend using on of the pro's starter league builds to learn/relearn the game. I'd consider myself a casual+ vet and I use a pro starter build almost every single league before making a more expensive / advanced build.
Tuco the stormburst inquisitor (his last build) may be right down your alley.
