Ill be on in a few hours been having shit luck with 70 maps but have piled up quite a few 69s - beginning to think the best way to move up tiers is just doing map turnins.

Hopefully they have a real content patch soon the standard league is definitely starting to stagnate. People have most gear and gems they want at this point so it's impossible to sell anything except the ultra rare/valuable uniques

So there is a new vendor recipe that became public this weekend. Apparently it's been in the game since closed beta and only a couple of people knew about it and made profits from it.

Hand in a level 20 skill gem + 1 GCP and it gives you a 20 quality level 1 skill gem back.

goddamnit I'm an idiot sometimes. Was jacking around with my game window resolution, stretching it across both my monitors to varying widths, testing it out, and I didn't realize that the game graphics don't update while you are re-sizing your window. Died to a random mob while jacking with it. Was lvl 53 in hardcore. Blech.

That is cool. This is the kind of recipe they need more of. Yeah it takes forever to level gems, but it makes something fairly rare and expensive attainable by anyone willing to put in some time. RNG can be such a bitch.

After I found out about it I went to look and see what the highest level gems I have...17 is the magic number for me. I have 2 70+ toons and only 1 is 74 and I havent done any maps over level 68. From reading more about it, the people who are consistently doing level 72ish+ maps are the ones who will profit most from that recipe while leveling gems on their offhands.

Sounds appropriate to me. People can bitch if they want but the people doing 72+ maps and getting gems to 20 spend a ton of time and currency to get to that point.

For the record, I'm not one of those people. I only do 70's once in a while and I'm fairly poor. Getting in to the mid 70's is going to be frustrating and expensive for someone with limited playtime like myself.

Hoping to sell these in bulk for chaos and chisels - really need those for the 72+ map game

lucky mofo. I have 3 different 5L chests, but have yet to pull off a 6L (of course, all 3 of those are now in softcore after I lost the hardcore characters, so in reality, I have none :/ )

I'm thinking I may buy a 77 map - even if we can't maintain, will probably get us some more mid level maps so its not such a pain to move up

I'm going to have low playtime for a while. New home project painting and flooring, plus work travel coming up

I can't ever decide. Everytime I die on hardcore I get super pissed and swear I'm going to just play softcore from now on, and then within a day or two I'm back rolling up a new hardcore character. I've got probably 7 or 8 softcore characters all anywhere from level 50-65 or so, and all decked out in nice gear, several 5l Chests, lot of uniques, etc. I really just need to pick one and play softcore probably. I don't have the patience to grind in hardcore to outlevel content by 10+ levels to be safe from dying. I try to push ahead too quick and end up making a mistake somewhere(usually in Act 3, goddamn lightning thorns and reflect mobs)

My last hardcore death might be the straw that broke the camels back though, it was unexpected while I was farming, so it took a majority of my farming gear with it(great 25% runspeed boots, tons of IIR/IIQ gear that I had spent months and months collecting)

If you're interested in playing again you should join me and hateyou if you can get your iiq/iir reasonably high. My goal is to start doing 70maps this week and never drop back down(starting with about 30)

Anyone have a melee-based build that is working well for them in end-game maps? 90% of my experience with PoE has been with ranged characters, LA Rangers, FP witches, dual sporkers, ethereal knife builds, etc.

With the somewhat recent changes to melee and their skill tree areas, I was just curious as to what builds actually work well end-game now, before I roll a new character. This will also be in Hardcore, which is why I've always shied away from melee, I worry a bit about their survivability.

Ground slam is map viable melee. Popular build that I was basing my guy on is the Lawnmower Man build (I didn't get to maps etc with him yet but the guy who did the build has videos of him doing maps all over youtube etc.).

Do you groundslam 2H mace, or 1H mace + shield. I would almost thing that you'd need a shield to survive as melee in high-end maps.

2h mace all the way, altho to be fair the build that I saw the guy was using a basically max-geared version. I believe there is an onslaught version of the build too tho on the forums.

You guys talking about the Melee/CI leap slam build? Seems like you need a few specific and expensive pieces of gear to make it work. I'm currently testing the new evasion changes, have a claw ranger up to act 2 merci so far. Have to be careful on larger packs but rapes bosses so far. This is on onslaught.
